As daughter of a man in charge of the CIA, Gemma Harrison knew her father was overprotective. She just didn't think it went as far as assigning a man she can't stand to be her bodyguard under the rouse of a fake marriage after receiving threats on his daughter's life. Now she has to plan a fake wedding to a guy - okay, maybe he's attractive and has a butterfly-inducing Southern accent - but she was only twenty years old! She wasn't expecting to settle down so soon, especially not when she had a crush on her community college's star athlete, Troy. Now that Agent Dixon Black is constantly with her, her dreams of making out in the backseat of Troy's Camaro are completely ruined. Full disclosure: I am an acquired taste. I'm a typical blonde Orange County suburbanite who says 'like' more than necessary, laughs loud and probably obnoxiously, and loves to dance in the rain. I'm a 23 year old college graduate with more than a few tricks up my sleeve, and I also happen to be a pretty big Ducks fan. Oh, and I'm a writer. Like, for real.

A) I didn't feel any connection between MCs.
B) horrible horrible grammar. Some sentences had their meaning completely changed, you would be like "WHY would they say THAT" and two sentences later you'd realise a "not" has been misused throughout the whole book.

This was a good book. I'm not surprised though. In this book we have Gemma and Dixon. They are to plan a fake wedding together. However, we knew that things were going to get real for them in the end. Thankfully in the end Dixon came to his senses and they were going to be a real couple.

With fake dating and danger how could I say no to this book! It was a very short enjoyable read. I did like the characters. The thing I did not like was the age difference (it is SIXTEEN YEARS) which is too big of a gap for me. I also did not like in the beginning Gamma only describing the main character as a redneck. I think it was a little rude especially with how much she repeated it.

Sweet romance between a emotionally reserved CIA tough guy agent and a slightly ditzy cute college student. A study of contrasts

description

Positives:

1. Age-play - there's something so hot and taboo about an older guy and a younger girl. She's 20 years old to his 35

2. Personality clash, he's the quiet, reserved tough guy CIA agent, while she resembles Cher from Clueless (but with bigger boobs and not as easily led)

3. The romance between them wasn't totally angst-y and silly. And no insta-lust (hate that)

4. I liked that Dixon wasn't your typical billionaire tall dark and handsome hero. He had dark copper hair (highly unique and unusual for a chick-lit) and came from a humble background

-------------------------------

Negatives:

1. Not enough chemistry. The author ought to have shown us more of when Gemma and Dixon weren't talking to each other. When he was just her body-guard. The build-up would have been better

2. Was way too far-fetched

3. Some of the story had gaps. I'm sure she mentioned he has 2 sisters, but at their "engagement party" he has a drug addicted brother turn up. It would have been better if Dixon had a conventional family.

3. Although Gemma is like Cher from Clueless she also isn't your typical college student. She chooses not to drink, doesn't like partying, but loves to read, go sailing and play soccer (football). I liked that she was comfortable in herself not to try to fit in to the image of college student out having a wild time.

------------------------

Overall an enjoyable book with loads of funny moments.

A romantic spy comedy. That’s not a list of words I thought I’d ever group together, but there they are. The author herself even pokes fun at the themes she’s playing with: younger woman/older man, boss’s daughter, opposites attract. You get the picture. Gemma likes to think that she’s modelled her life after the heroines of her favorite movies: Legally Blonde and Clueless. Dixon could be the dictionary definition of the strong, silent type. He’s there to protect her life, but she’s not completely certain there’s even a real threat. I think both of those movies are apt comparisons to this book. They’re light and fluffy with some unexpected depths hidden beneath. Dixon and Gemma’s story was certainly fun to read. The perfect change of pace from the dark, angsty reads that have come my way recently.

Gemma is a typical 20-year-old college student, except that she's being threatened because of her father's position in the CIA. Dixon (love his name!) works for him, and is assigned to protect her. Her parents decide that they should pretend to be getting married - a little far-fetched considering their age difference. They spend tons of time together, what with planning the wedding and all. She inadvertently pushes all of his buttons when she presses him for information on his family and previous love interest. When everything is resolved and she's finally safe, she reveals to him that she's fallen in love with him, and he doesn't deal with that very well. This is the time I've read a book from this author that's outside her terrific hockey romances. Overall, I enjoyed the book.

This is romantic, amusing and sweet. Dixon is tough, unemotional and brutal in the beginning, but as time goes on he becomes charming, amusing, relaxed and cheeky. Hired as a bodyguard for his boss's daughter, Dixon agrees to a fake engagement so that he can be with her all the time. Gemma is smart, optimistic and a bit flakey, and she doesn't like Dixon. She's tired of him following her, so when her father suggests the fake engagement, she's not happy. And proceeds to let Dixon know this every time she's forced to be in his company. Dixon thinks that she's a spoiled, airhead rich girl. The more time they spend together, and get to know each other, the more they like each other. Danger visits Gemma, and makes her rely on Dixon and makes Dixon see her in a different light.

A quick, sweet read with a bit of danger thrown in.💓

Gemma is a twenty-year-old college student who happens to be the daughter of the head of the CIA. She's never really quite gotten that she could be in danger because of it. That is until her dad arranges for her to have a bodyguard. Agent Dixon Black is thirty-five and thinks Gemma is a spoiled little princess... he's not too far off the mark. But Gemma is deeper than most people think and she doesn't get the point of her father's new security plan. Having said all of that... this story is really easy to read and pretty clean. But there is more going on and it's interesting to see how they deal with what is thrown at them.💕😊💕

Gemma is the daughter of a senior Cia Officer and when her life is put in danger her parents are quick to come up with an answer. She needs to be protected 24/7 and how it wont look out of place??? They want to marry her off to a CIA agent Dixon Black. Gemma and her best friend had come up with the code name Code Blue for Dixon due to his blue eyes. At first it is awkward but there chemistry is a slow simmer. But it isn't long till feeling start to come into play.
Altho I did enjoy reading their story I did have a Constance feeling something was missing for me and I really didnt like the ending.

I volunteered to read this ARC for an honest review. I enjoyed this story about Dixon and Gemma. She's available twenty year old student who's father works for the CIA. He's the head of a secretive department. When her safe is in danger, her parents assign her a body guard. Gemma and her BFF Gillian try to runaway but Dixon catches them. When her life is threatened, her parents up the ante, Dixon will become her fiance and plan a wedding. They have chemistry, everyone but then sees. They settle into a routine but when her life is threatened, Dixon comes to the rescue. This is a great tale about a love that builds over time. I love the cake tasting scene.

Too clean
Although the story and the rise of feelings are well written and described, I was disappointed because it was too clean, too smooth. When a former FBI agent, who works now for the CIA, as a undercover agent for the CIA boss, we expect more action, more passion. But finally, it's pretty quiet, except towards the end. The relationship between Gemma, the daughter of the boss of the CIA who is threatened and Dixon, the agent assigned to him to become her fake husband, is quite soft and definitely it lacks passion. There is a little too much muted in all this.

Sweet read

Another short, sweet read. I didn't think I'd like this when I realized Gemma was 20 and Dixon 35. The author does a great job of making the dialogue and situations believable between them. Dixon is CIA and works for her dad. Someone is threatening Gemma's life in order to get to her dad. Her father comes up with the idea that Dixon should pose as Gemma's fiancee so he can be close to protect her. The story line involving the person after her is weak but the story line between Dixon and Gemma is good. Relax, enjoy and read this book.

This was a great book to read. The characters are well developed and engaging with an easy flowing storyline. The bodyguard will fake a relationship with the bosses daughter to keep her safe. Is it hate or is it love the question kept me turning the pages to get my answer while throwing some twist and turns to keep more interested.

Gemma is the daughter of the head of the CIA and she doesn't think about danger. When her dad starts getting threats on her life he arranges for her to have a bodyguard. Her bodyguard, Dixon, turns out to be a gorgeous man with a sexy southern accent. A fake engagement, a fifteen year age difference and a couple that turn out to be perfect for each other. This is an entertaining, fun, sweet quick read.

This was quite on the corny, but interesting side of reading. There were instances of unbelievable, and some of intense drama. The characters are really bland, but when an author mixes comedy and mystery suspense it's hard to get good insight to the meat of the story. I really didn't understand the true focus of the story, or were there many?

Save the Date

A slow starter but once you into it it was hard stop reading for mundane things like eating etc. I enjoyed this book and wished they had got before Harvey was killed. Some of the dialogue was a bit mixed up with bad spelling and English sentences but it did not make a difference to the plot line

It’s not the story of the year but I appreciate it’s not an instant love story. It’s great to see 2 people so opposite who come together. Yes it is a bit naive but sometimes is just what you need

I absolutely loved this! The story was amazing! I completely fell in love with Dixon. I kind of wished the ending had more. I would have loved to see what came afterwards, but it was still pretty good. I would probably read this again. So worth it!

Gemma’s parents are overprotective but justifiably so. To keep her safe they use the ruse she is marrying her bodyguard. Somewhat predictable but hey that’s what we love right? I voluntarily read an arc of this book.
