Although the length is short, the story bursts with emotion. What is more heartbreaking than not being with the one you love? Ms. O’Neal provides an impossible situation thwarting young people who want desperately to plan a future but a major issue stands in their way. Michael is a great hero, supportive and protective of Sarah’s needs. Sarah is loyal and loving to her family. Wonderful characterizations (including the secondary characters) swept me into their trauma and I needed to know how their problem would be resolved. A great start to a western historical series.
