Dominion #4

Resurrection

Rate this book
Eve Hayden had no idea what to expect the night she went in search of a translator for an 800-year old French illuminated manuscript but it certainly wasn’t what she found -- Michel and Julien de Cernay: 800-year old identical twin vampire brothers – beautiful, tempermental opposites, both wanting her for themselves.

Michel -- dark, brooding, control-freak, former priest who broke his vows the night he was turned into a vampire. Julien -- impetuous, valiant, passionate, a brave knight who lost his life on a battlefield when a vampire claimed him.

Caught between the two brothers, Eve searches for the truth about her mother's death, her birth, and the fight to prevent Dominion – vampire rule over humans. Eve's mother gave her life to keep Eve safe, but was unable to protect herself. Now, Eve can't escape this fate nor can she escape them -- even if she wanted to.

This is her story.

In Book 4, the return of Soren and some startling revelations force Eve to make choices that break her heart.

This just gets worse by the page. I only struggled through this out of obligation, thinking this would be the last book, and I should just finish it if I had read the first 3. How wrong I was. There is one more to come...
I had enough of the plot never going anywhere, all the misdirection, lies and confusion. Nothing is as it seems, and this is just really annoying, rather than being intersting and intriguing. Eve never knows the truth, noone is telling her anything real, they feed her (and us) informations which seems like the truth at the time only having to turn out to be a big fat lie. Everyone is against everyone, or is it really, because everyone plays everyone else, thinking that they are just so clever and they got the better of the other, which again turns out not be the case at all. We never know who really wants what, who fights against whom, who is allied with whom and all if it is just one big mess.
Eve is still hung up on both brothers, even worked out a 'fuck schedule' to be able to have them both. How lovely... Then - again - all goes to shit and everything turns on its head again. They are still fighting Soren, fighting Blackstone, fighting each other, but does Soren fight Blackstone or vise versa? What is the end game? There is just no end in sight. It's so bloody annoying, it drives me crazy. I wish I've never started this series.

Ugh...after Retribution I was hoping this would be the end, but it's not. Well, maybe it is because I don't care to read any more of this story. There's just so much nonsense and drama going on, it's exhausting.

This series just seems to be getting worse by the book. I loved the first book and the main characters as well. I'm really growing tired of Eve's character and how childish she has been since the third book.

hmm. How to rate this book?? I was angry, sad, and fed up at times. I want to love Michel, but he keeps lying and saying it's for the greater good. I can't believe he did all that he did, to become mortal again, just so he can return to being a priest. I am annoyed at him for that choicem, when he put Eve and julien through so much, just to abandon them to go back to the church. So that's why I think he is still fooling us, and his end game is not what we think. I'm hoping the three of them will be happy, and that his motives will prove true, and not selfish. I was angry at Eve's mother, for not only letting Eve believe that Michel killed her, but for leaving her alone, and committing her sane father to an asylum. Nothing could make me forgive that. I adore Julien, but still want things to work with Michel too. It was a real rollercoaster, and I'm sure book 5 will have me choosing sides, again. Soren, Blackstone, the Plague,Forced ascention, becoming mortal, what's next??? I can't wait for the next book, so I can have some peace. I just hope that Eve grows a spine.

3.5 stars. Well, what can I say. I feel that this series is going downhill considering I couldn't put the first book down. The book/series just seem to be going in circles and not really progressing forward.

In this book, Eve was particularly annoying. She is extremely childish in her behaviour. Why people put up with her, I don't know.

But there is only one book left (which I've already bought) so I will finish the series.

Great story and characters, but so much time spent in each book with the main character having to learn things over and over- is she stupid, do they keep making her forget without our knowledge?

She knows by the middle of book 4 that Soren can read her mind all the time, but the first chapter of book five sees her thinking it's only when they share blood as she was told that before.

She makes her mind up about the brothers then changes for no reason, all in all a lot of vacillating back and forth, round and round where it's not necessary- I think the author is trying for these massive, suspenseful plot twists, like Jeffery Deaver or Archer or King, but she doesn't have the skill or knowledge to do it.

Maybe she just didn't keep track well enough of her story, I'm not sure but it's frustrating.

Okay.. (It took me a while to finish this...) I really love Michel over Julien.. But did you ever felt that the story should be done and over already? I felt that in this book... I expected that it'll be finished but then surprise! Conclusion on summer of this year...

It's like a dead end... and that the situation on the plague and Soren and then Blackwell...? I felt, will there ever be peace and freedom from the pending Dominion..? Will Eve, Michel and Julien be ever be together? How about Dylan? And then Eve's Mom... It's like they poured all the worst situations on this installment.. And it made catch my breath....

Oh well, it's just me. Let's wait for the conclusion.

Okay, well, when I started this series I really loved it. I loved the characters and plot. Even all the twists worked for a while, but......come on how long can an author drag this out? It just feels like this book was a repeat of the previous with a few tweaks. If we don't have some kind of resolution soon I'll just have to abandon poor Eve. I mean at this point she seems to be crying more than Frodo and poor, poor Sam.

Seriously... EVERYTHING should have been resolved by now. It seems we are always completely back at square one so this author can just continue getting a paycheck.

I have decided to go with a 4 star review despite a bit of disappointment I have with this book.
First let me be positive. The book has a good plot with good characters. The world the author has created has huge potential to be a wonderful, dark, intricate and seriously demented place. The vampires have great abilities, the angels even more. At time, the dialogue between the characters is engaging, realistic and believable.

But, here is where I believe there is some flaws. (And I don't do this often, but these things stood out too much)
The world that the author has created never really gets explored. She created such a potentially rich environment with the plague and spent all their time in just a few locations. Then giving her vampires abilities and then never using them, (i.e. a telepathic link. Eve shares blood with a vampire. Ok, she shared blood with both Michel and Julien but never once did she even contact them telepathically. Don't you think that might have come in handy Little details like that are found thought out the book.
Now, let's talk about Eve. She is the most crying, weak, insecure supposed heroine. I thought in the third book she was getting better, but she regressed. Constantly whining about why she can't have her happy days on the beach with Michel or wait, is it Julien? I can't keep up with her.
Then there is the constant repetition of thing we already know. Like an update on what has happened so far in the story, like we have not been reading the book this whole time or were not paying attention. Or worst, it felt like she was just try to fill a word quota.
As I said before, this store is really quite good. It has great bones, otherwise I would have not continued reading it. Nor would I have given it 4 stars.

I loved this book but I really hate cliffhangers. I was under the impression that this was a 4 book series, but no, there's another installment and I believe the last book coming in September 2015. I'll just have to wait but I'm not a patient person. LOL

Now, as for this book. I'm a fan! There were a few things that I'm not too sure about and I had a harder time grasping in this book, but it's still a great read. No, these are not stand alone books but the story is moving along and it's getting to the good stuff.

By the way, who is Franklin? I thought that Eve's foster father was Thompson? Maybe I'm wrong. I guess I'll have to read the series again, just in case I missed something. LOL That's the one sure way to know if I love a story. I read it so fast the first time that I can miss things. So I'm on my way to re-read this series and pray that September isn't too far away.

4.5 dark, evil, heart-wrenching ****'s for Resurrection

Another excellent book in the Dominion Series! This one is dark and definitely graphic, along with major plot twists and horrific events. A few questions answered, but new questions arise. And despite actions that occur, Eve is still torn between her beloved twins, Michel and Julien. Who will she pick?! (I know my choice...)

Only one more book in the series -- for Eve to defeat Soren, Blackstone and Dominion, and to make a difficult choice that might tear her heart apart.

Huge cliffhanger at the end UGGGGGGHHHH Great read. Soren plays a twisted game between Julian, Michel and Eve. Hes always playing the three against each other. Its horrible. Eve still can't decide who to choose between the two brothers and Soren plays to that. Soren and Michel are always trying to control Eves decisions and Julian is always so laid back. But Eve must decide because it might become a life or death situation.

My least favorite book among the series. There's only one more book remaining and there is no character development whatsoever for the heroine. With all the shit that happened to Eve, she is still the obstinate and stubborn girl she was when the series started. This is really going down fast. Her indecision and going back and forth between the brothers at first was really interesting but four books of it? I almost tagged this one as DNF.

Still good

This is a good build up from the last book to the next. The only bad part was that it seems to drag and was used as a filler. Can't wait to see what happens next.
