I sat on the other side of Bill Covington's huge antique desk with my head hung, while he sat expressionless staring at me with his fingers interlocked behind his neck.
He finally spoke and when he did, my blood pressure sky rocketed.
"It has been my experience that women who act in a juvenile manner such as you; need to be treated as such."
"Excuse me," I cautiously asked looking up through my eyelashes.
"You heard me, if you are going to conduct yourself as a child, then you should be punished as one."
"And just how do you plan on doing that?" I asked calmly through clenched teeth.
Without missing a beat he stated: "Go stand in the corner."
"Like hell I will!" I screeched.
He leaned in and chuckled, "Well I could take my belt off and turn you over my knee, but we don't know each other that well.... Yet... I'm waiting," he calmly stated.
"Well you will be waiting until hell freezes over!"
By now I was not only meeting his gaze--I was flat out challenging it. Who the hell did this little twerp think that he was anyway?
He innocently eyed me, "I know what you are thinking. You are thinking that you don't need this job and that you can make it on your own."
I was shaking my head agreeing, if he thought that I was standing in that corner he had lost his mind.
"You're right, you may be able to get by without this account, but by the time that I get done with you--you won't be able to get a job anywhere in this town."
To keep up with all things Suzanne Steele you can find her on Facebook and her wordpress blog. Everything there is up to date. She loves her beautiful readers. Suzanne Steele is an Amazon Bestselling Author and television host for a TV program in the Charlotte NC area. She focuses on volunteer work and is very heavily involved in giving back to her local community. The month of October will be spent focusing on breast cancer awareness. Suzanne has a penchant for writing about dark characters with twisted behavioral patterns. If you're looking for the typical romance, this is probably not the author for you. Her characters are very alpha in nature and many times they operate under obsession for the object of their affection; rather than love. Though she does believe in happily ever afters, her characters many times have a bumpy ride getting there. She also writes under the pseudonym Stormy Dawn Weathers for her writings that aren't so darkly laced with a true realism of shock and awe. Suzanne Steele does not believe in holding back when it comes to writing about how dark and depraved her characters are in the core of their primal natures.
Come on, let's be honest here!! What Bill did was abuse of POWER and not the good kind. I love an OTT controlling alpha male as much as the next girl, but I would like to feel the love too.
Bill forced Angle into a relationship and Angel had no choice in the matter. He treats her like shit in and out of the bedroom and she doesn't make much resistance. (she called herself a STRONG woman) *eye roll* It was hard to see the connection between them, If only the sex scenes had been delicious, I would have been just a little bit happy, but Noooo, they were too short and just too boring. One thing I hate in the books I read, is when we don't get a solution to the problems that take place during the story. It all goes a bit fast and it's up to us to figure out how we've got there! No HEA, I'm not even sure I'll call it an HFN!!
Angel(ica) is having a bad day when the delivery man comes to her office. She gets an attitude with him, and later finds out he is the CEO of the company she works for. He, Bill, calls her into his office and he punishes her for her behavior, and she has to make it up to him. Eventually he manipulates her into a "fake" engagement.
First of all, if you work in a corporate office, if you care so much about your career, i'm going to need to for you to know what the CEO looks like, especially if you work in the same building.
This book is degrading. This goes far beyond controlling. Maybe I misunderstood what this book was about, and was misled by the cover. Angel had to stand in the corner, crawl on her knees to get her job back. Bill choked her. If she had REALLY wanted to she could have gotten evidence of him doing such things, especially touching her sexually, and sued him. But I know that's not what the book is a about. I just can't stand they way she is being treated, and how she accepts it. They both get off on it. The fact that she always has to guess at his moods, and can't answer questions right seems kind of abusive to me.
I am fully aware if what type if author Suzanne Steele is, but this book rubbed me the wrong way. And the sex wasn't as hot as in some of the other books.
I really want to read Talon and Miller's stories.
Beyond the plot there were inconsistencies. One sentence she says he takes off her shirts and g string. A few pages, he removes her boy shorts. And she got Bill and Kirk's names mixed up at one point. It needs a bit more editin.
Overall not my favorite, especially since it has a HFN.
Like her other books this is another hot as hell read. If you like possessive, controlling, obsessed hotties make sure you have a change of panties this one has some steamy, hot moments with some kink!
Angel is a 40 year old commercial writer. Bill Cunningham is a 32 year old businessman. When Angel mistakes Bill for a delivery boy on a rough day and treats him rudely, Bill decides to use her indiscretion to get her under his thumb. He calls her to his office and tells her that if she’s going to act like a child he’s going to treat her like a child – she is, of course, mortified that she mistook the CEO of the company that holds her largest account to be a delivery boy and even more so that she was rude to him. She’s not sure about how to respond to Bill’s crazy requests – he wants her to stand in the corner, like a child, and when she balks, he threatens to not only pull his business but to use his influence to get all her other accounts to leave her as well. Angel complies. The next day he calls her to his office again, this time telling her that she now needs to be in her office during business hours – even though strictly speaking she doesn’t work for him, and she has other accounts, additionally while he’s talking to her, he starts manhandling her. When Angel tells him, very professionally, that he has no right to manhandle her, or threaten her or demand anything of her because she doesn’t want his account anymore – she no longer works for him. (I’m right there with you, sister – what a creep!) I like my stories kinky, probably kinkier than most, but what Bill does to Angel next isn’t kinky, it is cruel and abusive. When Angel tells him to let go of her, because she is leaving, he reminds her of his threat from the day before – “What part of you won’t be able to get a job in this town did you not understand?” Bill does indeed have enough power to take everything away from Angel. And he’s childish enough and arrogant enough to think it’s a game. When Angel comes crawling back after enough of her accounts leave her that she’s unable to support herself – he offers her the job of gopher with a desk in his office. To top it off, later on in the book, Bill has the stupidity and audacity to look down on a man in Angel’s history who stole from her – what exactly does he think he did to her?
From here the story goes exactly where you would expect. Bill forces Angel to move in with him, there’s lots of BDSM sex, he’s very possessive. Someone threatens Angel’s wellbeing. Someone else expresses interest in Angel. Bill responds like a he-man in both instances.
I could not get past what Bill did to get Angel to begin with. He brow-beat her into being with him. I’ll admit it’s a fine line with these stories, and a difficult one to articulate. I hate to say – I know it when I see it… If the stalker cop hadn’t been such a whack-job himself, I would have been rooting for him, he knew that Bill was not much different than the man who stalked Angel and beat her up! Bill gave me the hee-bee-jeebies and it ruined everything and just made me feel sorry for Angel.
I have to say I love the alpha males in Suzanne Steele's books, she sure knows how to write a sexy as hell man. Angel is a 40yr old independent woman who has been burned by a man in the past. Bill Covington is 32, rich, dominant & CEO of his own company that he took from his piece of shit Father that left him & his Mother to live in total poverty. Angel mistakes Bill for a delivery guy when he brings a package to her office & is less than friendly to him. Bill is very attracted to Angel & tells her he is going to punish her for acting like a rude brat. This is a quick read with a great story & lots & lots of steam.
I absolutely love the writing style of Suzanne Steele! The alpha males are absolute but I love that Angel is no slouch though, she is alpha queen ;) again, I like that there are several stories in one book. The continuity of this whole series is seamless! Kudos! Must read more !!!
This was the first book I read by This author and I loved it so much devoured all her other books!she writes about supreme alphas males so make sure u have a spare set of panties and understand that obsession is a kind of love too!
Loved it! Not suprising considering I havent read a book by Suzanne Steele i didnt love. Billy and Angel pull you in to their story and i love how characters from other books take part in their lives. I couldn't stop reading.
Loved this book! I have already read Dauntless MC and read this is the book Talon was introduced in so I had to read. I was not disappointed! I'm a fan of Suzanne`s dark romance. In this book you also continue with Miller`s story from The Govenor to lead into The Contract.
Good read. Perfectly alpha. Little bit of intrigue and crazy train with Bill's brother and the cop. Interesting story introduced for next book with Miller.
Don't Judge a book is my favorite. Every time a new book comes out ; I have to read this one. I wish I was in this book. It is wonderful. I love Bill he is intense and sexy.
