Fed up with the farm life and his one-time love of training horses, John Wilson has traded his tattered boots and jeans for power suits and cufflinks. Through hard work and determination, John has just graduated from law school and is focused on a fresh start. Refusing to let his bitter past hinder his future, John is intent on moving forward with his new life.
Except there’s one last thing he has to do—settle old debts before he can truly move on.
Unfortunately, settling debts involves him returning to a life he’s worked hard to forget. A mind-numbing summer working on a horse farm awaits him, and he’s dreading every damn minute of it.
Edie James is mourning the loss of her grandfather when John Wilson shows up in his perfectly tailored suit, reeking sexiness and city elegance—everything she’s not. Their meeting is less than pleasant as they both distastefully size up one another.
She thinks he’s arrogant and a white-collar yuppie.
He thinks she’s a simple, goody two-shoes farm girl.
Edie’s grandfather made a new will before he passed leaving stipulations in order for Edie to inherit the family farm. And as if that wasn’t enough of a challenge, the suit has to work on the farm with her for three months to settle a debt he owed to her grandfather.
And he’s moving in with her.
With a rocky start, the two seemingly polar opposites call a truce and attempt to be friends. As their unexpected friendship blooms, an attraction develops and both realize their first impression of each other is far from the truth. Now this once dreaded summer is set to be the hottest and most unforgettable they've ever had.
"Home is a place where love resides and rests easy. love should always be easy."
It is a sweet romance (with lots of hot moments) about finding your place in life and what feels like home.
Edie inherits her grandfather's horse farm under two conditions: 1. to keep the 75% of the current clientelle for 6 months and 2. to place a horse third in the local championship. This seems like no trouble to Edie except her clients start to take their horses elsewhere mistrusting her age and gender. On top of that, her grandfather's will states that an unknown man must come and work for her during the summer to settle an old debt and she must accept it.
Enter John, or "the suit" as Edie calls the handsome lawyer, who stands on her doorstep ready to take charge on the farm and apparently her heart as well.
They both have their dreams and well-out plans for life but it seems that life has other plans for them. I really enjoyed watching them struggle with their feelings and the chemistry that was obvious from the start. I loved how John didn't shy away and was honest with himself and his feelings, you don't get heroes like that usually.
What annoyed me at the beginning (and kept me for giving this book a 5 star rating) was the slut shaming. Edie is one moment a prude (desperatelly trying to hold on to the good-girl image the whole town has for her) and the next invites John to a role-playing, no-strings-attached relationship with an expire date. You can't just say that any grown-up woman who chooses to have a non-commital relationship with a man is a slut and then go a start one yourself. Fortunatelly this was just at the very beginning of the story and it was easy for me to overlook it, but I can see that some readers might choose to DNF the story due to this.
The side characters are also great, I loved their BFFs, Parker and Nikki (and thrilled that there is a second book about them) and Joey who works at the farm and is like a brother to Edie.
If you like steamy romances with I-can-do-it-as-well-as-a-man Heroines, I-look-good-in-a-suit-but-I'm-not-afraid-to sweat-either Heroes and of course horses, then this book is definitely one you should read.
It's official. B.N. Toler can write any kind of genre. And totally rock it!!!!! This book was sooo good.
Edie is having a pretty rough time of it. Her grandfather, who was her only surviving family, just passed away. She lives in a small country town so everyone knew him, and she can't seem to get away from all the sympathetic glances. She's pretty much known as the town good girl, and as much as she wishes otherwise, she would mostly just like to keep the towns opinion the way it is. Besides, she now has a horse farm to run alone, and won't have much time for anything else. Little does she know her grandfather had set up something else entirely.
In comes the Suit. His job is to help Edie try to meet the requirements of her Grandfather's will. He has to stay with her for three months, and then he can go back to his life. Thing is, these three months are the closest thing to torture he thinks he can get. These three months are going to bring back things from his past that he has ran from for years. So, he plays the part of the Suit. Never giving away that there is a whole other layer to him no one knows anything about anymore.
I loved Edie and Johnny together. From first glance they already felt a pull toward one another, they just focused on other things to fight it. And, as an avid book reader, I totally appreciated how Edie used her love of books to her advantage. Wink wink!! I just wonder how many of us have wanted to do the same thing. And, what a tremendous guy The Suit was to go along with her antics. SOOOO HOT!!!!
I guess, if I was going to take away anything from the book, at all, I think she let Johnny off the hook too easily. No, I'm not all for unneeded drama. Not at all what I'm saying. I just think if it were me, I probably would have never forgiven him as fast as she did. I give them total props for being able to talk it out like mature adults, totally, completely. I just think ...fool me once, shame on you...fool me twice, shame on me...I don't know. I'm not making a huge thing out of this, and like I said,I don't think the story needed any overdramatics. I think she could've stood her ground a little more. Especially, the second time when he had been given the chance to spill all to begin with. Maybe, I'm wrong...what do I know, lol. I loved everything else so who cares, right?
The ending though, omg, these two were so perfect in the end. I loved them just being them together. If you have read it you know what I mean. I saw where Nikki is going to get her own story and I can NOT wait to read hers. It is going to be amazing!!! I sincerely loved this story. I grew up on a horse ranch and I always brace myself for stories that deal with horses because they can be unrealistic sometimes. But this one was perfect!! I love this author and can't wait to see what else she comes up with!!!
ARC provided by author in exchange for an honest review.
Country meets city for a hot summer romance. And a strong pull from a cover that spoke to me. Different - a lonely tree and a fully clothed man! Worked for me - don't exactly know why but I'm especially glad that it did. After reading this well put together contemp romance and one of the best books I've read this year, I can definitely say that the "suit" fit and he wore it well in many ways.
Edie and John shook the boredom out of my system from the last few attempts to find that something a little extra special, new and refreshing. I loved the writing, the characters, the dialog -- well, suffice to say that I just loved the whole dang shebang!
The sizzle and heated encounters and the way this author projected them was such fun to read and a real treat to watch unfold.
I'm not saying anything else to avoid spoiling the full effect of what readers will find to be a favorite read. I'm betting on it! And I enthusiastically recommend it to one and all.
This is the second book i've read by B.N. Toler (my first one was Where one goes - one of the best novels I've read in 2015) so I was kinda hoping I'd have at least similar reaction I got after reading the book I just mentioned.
Well, surprise, surprise I got even more from this jam...
and i love when it all just comes to me like a big wrapped-up-with –a-red-bow-kinda gift! And when I opened the gift it didn't explode in my face instead it brought me laughter and some HAAAWT, steamy scenes I won't forget any time soon...
The lovable charachters, especially the heroine Edie James – she was awesome! A witty and funny , bold 23 year old who gripped the life by the balls, no matter how hard, painful and challenging things it brought to her – she dealt with the loss of her grandfather who raised her to be the woman she is today – lovable, open, smart and thoughtful, kind, talented and a true hardworker who loved and lived her dream as a horse trainer on her grandpa's farm...his death fell hard on her chest (cause she has to live up to the expectations and prove her own abilities in order to save and keep the farm )BUT it also brought a novice, a change and another challenge into her life in the form of a handsome soon to be lawyer Johnny Wilson aka The Suit.
Edie
Now, Johnny was a character I simply adored, he crawled under my skin in an instant and he wasn't a prick, he was vivid, palpable three dimensional character who developed and grew in front of my eyes -from the elusive man who came into „our“ lives (well, mine and Edie's LOL) with a task to fulfill Edie's granpa's will to the man who found himself again alowing himself to fall in love and remember who he truly is, behind „the suit“ he wears, behind the ilusion of a life he thought he wanted yet only escaping and hiding from himself.
Johnny
(of course, it's gonna be this guy, don't know who he is but he represents the Suit)
Edie and Johnny together, people that's a whole different sphere we're going into...my God!
They have this arrangement that just comes in handy and they indulge this heat and chemistry they both feel but are reluctant to „name“ it or „label“ it cause it's restricted by the three months time limit of what they have together (that's the clause in the will Edie's grandpa had written stating that it's the amount of time Johnny needs to spend working and helping Edie on a farm) and in the end he turned out to be quite a prophet.
Sweet Jesus and all the saints above...I was just taken, blown away but the authentically written love (no, scratch that) sex scenes, love came later....
and that was just awesome „role play“ played out in there...
i could actually feel and re-live (now, don't think I'm a perv or smth) but It was so fuckin „real“ i had to pinch myself several times to remind myself of where I am at the moment...
(maybe I should have done that instead of pinching...hahah)
I felt alive, i felt aroused and I felt happy afterwards... LOL
Now if that is NOT the right reason to read this excellent piece of reading material just made for the summer time, then I don't know what is!
Funny, light, stemy hot and fresh romance novel I warmly recommened.
B.N. Toler is one of the most original new authors in today's market. She and I stumbled across each other on Goodreads and she asked if I would like to read her first book Healer which is a paranormal I want to say romance but it fits more in the Urban Fantasy genre I think but is so original it is hard to categorize. I really impressed with her fresh perspective of the genre and how she lets both the characters and story grow throughout the book. She followed this debut up with Hybrid and I was in her thrall. When she approached me not much later to read Wrecking Ball her contemporary romance debut I was eager yet a bit concerned it was so incredibly different from her other novels but again her originality took the novel into a whole new direction from most of the CR in the marketplace. I received an email a few weeks ago asking if I would read her newest novel and write an honest review I was all over it and once again her spin on this contemporary new adult novel gave it a freshness and her characters who are so outside the box have you loving them from page 1.
I read this book in 1 night it kept me up but I just had to see how two such different characters as Edie and John turned their conflicted meeting into something special and how they would get together. In her usual unique way B.N. Toler grew these characters as the story progresses they not only discovered who they wanted to be but grew together over the summer from a new adult couple just spreading their wings in the adult world into an adult couple ready to take on challenges and face the world together.
I loved the male character John, or johnny or Suit ...all three names were very distinctive parts of his personality and his journey to find himself. Edie was a bit more stable, she knew what she wanted but she had some stereotyping she needed to overcome and need to gain self confidence.
I don't want to giveaway the vehicle that B.N. T. used for her steamy sex scenes but I LOVED IT!! I think it is every romance readers dream.
I give this novel a 4.5 star rating and a HUGE recommendation...it is a must read and a perfect way for you to transition your summer reading into a fall favorite. I can't wait to see what B. N. Toler comes up with next, I know it will be something unique!
☆ I received an ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review. Thank you!! ☆
B.N. Toler is one of those underestimated writers that you find, but, once you give her the chance, you'll realize that she's a total gem.
I personally had the luxury of being introduced to B.N. through her The Healer series and after that I was totally hooked on her writing and was curious for more.
For this particular read, I was highly intrigued with how she was going to pull off a story like this. But, she managed to do it with steam, laughs, style, and most importantly, heart.
The Suit drives home a lot of realistic values and situations of adversity that we face in life, while mixing in factors such as drive, determination, and irrevocable attraction into the picture.
I loved the characterizations of both Edie and Johnny and their chemistry. Can you say sizzling much? I had to fan myself from all of the sexual tension they brought to each page they were in proximity of each other.
Not to mention... their personal plights were just genuine and honest that you just couldn't help but feel with them through all of their ups, downs, struggles and triumphs. It was so authentic and veritable.
So, in short: I REALLY liked this novel, and while I do like that this is being made into a series, I just wish I could have been informed beforehand. Other than that, great first installment Ms. Toler!! I can’t wait for more Edie and “The Suit” a.k.a Johnny!!♥♥
4,5 surprising stars ! I was expecting something cheesy and full of drama... Boy, was I wrong! It was a little bit cheesy toward the end - like in every book - but the rest of the story was realistic, sexy and fun. Love it !
Ok I am a little embarrassed to say I loved the Suit a whole lot more than I thought I would. Not that I thought it would be terrible because it came highly recommended by my bestie T'irla, but I couldn't see how it would be different from any other "summer fling" romance. But like all romances it is the characters that make it and I loved Edie and John. Their chemistry was hot and the build up was a little fast in the beginning, but otherwise was completely believable. This was my first BNT book and I look forward to reading more.
I liked this better than I thought I would when I read the description. The plot is pretty generic. But the characters were good and all the bits of generic plot blended together pleasantly, so not a bad read!
I will not retell the story for the sake of this review because this is one of those stories that is best enjoyed when one reads it for themself. But, I will say that I loved the story line for The Suit. It was clean, simple, and very sweet. The characters, Edie James and John "Suit" Wilson" were endearing and the overall story was more than engaging. Toler's has a very unique way of merging together elements that were both sweet and very sexy. There were several "acted out" scenes from the romance books that Edie liked to read, and let me tell you...SEXY!!! You wouldn't think a story about a farm girl would be sexy. But let me disavow you of that notion. Toler definitely kicked this story up with the subtly erotic elements woven throughout it. Edie was a good girl on the outside but oh so bad on the inside, and John was more than a match for her. I loved John as well because he too was not who and what he seemed upon first blush. He appeared very staid and upper-crust on the outside with his tailored suits and darkly sexy looks. However, he shared a background that was similar to Edie's although he did everything in his power to run from his past. What started off as a temporary hook-up between the characters evolved into so much more because each found in the other something they never expected -- a best friend and soul mate. Oh they fought it hard enough, especially poor John. Bless his heart. He really did want to escape the "farm life" but Edie showed him the beauty and simplicity of the life he wanted to escape. For those who don't like angst in their romance (raises hand in agreement), you won't find much in The Suit. There is a minuscule amount from Edie when John returns to his real life but it didn't last long and he quickly assuaged it with his return.
I would highly recommend The Suit for anyone looking for a spicy contemporary romance. The primary and secondary characters, namely Nikki and Parker, make the story interesting, funny and, most importantly, very enjoyable.
This was such an unexpected 5 star read. When I first came upon this book, I assumed it was going to be just another romance, that I like (b/cas let's be real, I'm not that hard to please in the romance bk dept), but it was a very cute read.
"Mr. Suit Mmm Mmm mmm" Who doesn't love a man in a suit? And just wait till you find out what's underneath that suit of his. No, but John and Edie (pronounced E-Dee) were so freakin cute together. I absolutely loved this book, and will definitely be keeping my eye out on this author for .
Definitely recommend this book to all my goodread friends- its a hidden, unexpected, delight of a read! And yes, yes I did do the creepy smile, the whole time I was reading in public.
Over and out! Till next time..or should I say next book.["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>
I am so in love with this book, it is absolutely amazing, probably one of my top 5 books this year!! I highly recommend it, it is a wonderful love story. This book made me laugh, blush, mad, and cry.. twice. Ugh I never classified myself as a hopeless romantic... but this confirms it.
This was a nice easy relatively angst free read. Edie James has just lost her grandfather, Bud James. . She has lived on his farm in Holly Springs, North Carolina, helping to train and board his horses since she lost her mother at an early age. She never knew her father and her mom was estranged from her own father. When she passed away, Edie was going to be placed in foster care, but her grandfather was contacted and he took her in. After a rocky beginning, the two had a deep love for one another and Edie is devastated by his death part of the condition of his will states she must keep up the percentage of horses boarded and training to his previous level in order to keep the farm. She eats, breaths and lives for this business and will do anything to keep it afloat. Good thing for her, she has a crazy, gorgeous best friend, Nikki, to tempt her to have a beer or two at Earl's, Holly Springs' local watering hole. Dierk Reynolds the town's wannabee stud, pursues her shamelessly, but she just doesn't feel it.
John Wilson has just fininshed law school. Although he grew up on a farm that had been in his family for generations, he is a long way away from that life. His grandfather, JR Wilson was a renowned trainer, who had one of his horses, Denver's Bronco win 2 of the 3 races in his quest for the Triple Crown. But his father ran the business into the ground. He died before the farm was lost. John was left with a mountain of debt but Bud James came to his rescue. He loaned him the money to pay off the debts. John still ended up having to sell, but he was able to put himself through law school with the money left over after the sale. The bitterness over his father's actions has never left him. He vows to never go back to that life. New York is where he wants to live and practice. He is getting ready to take the bar exam. But he has one thing he must do this summer. Bud wanted John to help out Eddie with the farm. This is John's way of paying back the debt that Bud helped him with, and even though he knows legally he could buy out this request, it was this man's dying wish and he will fulfill it.
When Edie and John first meet, sparks fly. Not necessarily good ones. Edie looks at John in his suit and tie and instantly she nicknames him, Suit. He is everything that the big city represents. She went to school there for a few years, met a guy, fell in love, lost her virginity and got dumped. Seems that her boyfriend was having some fun on the side and as soon as the sheets were cool, Edie was out on her ass. City life is not for her and she is content with farm living. John is attracted to Edie, but recognizes that they their lifestyles are night and day.
"Well, I left because of a guy. Not that you care, but I thought I was in love. He waited for me for two years and when I finally gave it up to him, he sent me a text message saying he wanted to break up. Apparently he found a new girl to chase. I later found out he wasn't really waiting for me at all and had been cheating on me the entire time. So I was devastated and I decided to come home where I belong."
John had been dating Ainsley for the last two months, but when he decided to go away to North Carolina for the summer, he told her they should take a break and see how things were after he got back. She's hot in bed, is the kind of career woman he could see himself marrying, but he doesn't think this relationship is going anywhere and thinks he will make this clear to her when he sees her again.
Slowly Edie and John learn to work together. Their attraction is always there, but both hold back on giving into it. Until finally the damn breaks and the sexual waters flow when Edie suggest a sex only, no strings relationship for the summer. John will be leaving, there won't be any hurt feelings and why shouldn't they have fun with each other? Especially when Edie would love to role play to her trashy romance novels she reads. John is down with that idea and it's game on!
Edie James is quite a woman. I'll never make fun of her choice in literature again. Who knew these shitty romance novels could be so fucking hot? Who knew the little farm girl could completely knock me on my ass? I have seriously underestimated Edie James.
So they share nights of fantasies filled with stewardesses, fake British accents, strangers meeting in bars, and the ever popular sexy siren in need of a big, strong lawyer,
"They didn't trust me not to run. I have a reputation for being very naughty."
"What's your name?"
She bats her eyes at me." My name is Anita...Anita Hardcock."
Wow. Just wow. This woman is going to make me lose my mind. Anita Hardcock is dirty code for I need a hard c#ck.
But there are secrets John is keeping from Edie and when she finds out about them, will she be able to forgive him? John has two job interviews and his bar exam waiting for him in New York. Can he walk away from the one person he never thought he would find?
I look up at him and sigh. "You know what I love most about these romance novels I read?"
OMG!!!!!!! I LOVE IT!!! Where do I start???? I love the role playing of books, I mean really its never been done (that I know of). Soo many books have "booknerd" girls in it but I have not read a book where she wants to act out a sex scene in a book. Then I had to question myself as to why have I not done it? Edie is one hell of a girl I mean truly special to get John to love the country again. John is HOT, what man can pull of a suit and cowboy look??? (Not many) Edie and a real girl, Southern sweetheart, lover of book, hard worker. But she is a real normal girl. Lots of book say "she is just a normal girl" and really its super close but Edie is REAL, she also is hard, (for her) as it can come across as little bitchiness. There really isn't many people out there who are sweet in most things in life but Edie is. Edie wants nothing more then to shed her innocent side, she is dying to show her town she can be wild. Yes I love Edie's wild side and how John can't get enough of it. He can keep up with her and I'm sure show her more, make her do more to grow, to experience all things in life. I can't get over how I have never seen role play from books before, I am not kidding. I'm not saying its not been done there are still a lot of books I haven't read but with as many that say she reads books none of them come close to saying they want to play out the sex scenes. And with Johns story at the end just ties it all together..... perfect
I have much respect for B N Toler!! I just adore her and all her work. She is one of those authors that is still undiscovered by most, if I could I would make everyone check out a book of hers and read it just so I can look at them and say "See!!! I told you, now welcome to club." If your a fan of Toler's then read The Suit, its as well written as all her books. I love how Toler can create a world not many people know but yet you understand everything that is happening in it. I know nothing about horses yet I didn't find myself questioning things that where mentioned. I would tell anyone who likes romance books to read The Suit (you can thank me later)and fall in love with Edie and John and get into Toler's world.
The Suit is about Edie James and what she is going through when she loses her grandfather. She lives on a horse farm in Holly Springs, North Carolina, born and raised.
When her grandfather dies, he leaves her to care for the farm but under his stipulations... Which are noted in his will.
With this walks in John Wilson, a long time friend of Bud. Bud leaves him a letter asking him to help Edie for the summer, making sure she follows all the steps she needs to take to keep the farm.
But when attraction comes in to play, things become heated. And John Wilson has a past no one saw coming.
This was my first novel I read by B N Toler: Author and she did not disappoint. The Suit is a very well written book with a lot of amazing elements to it. John is a hot hunk with dreams of big city living but when Edie, the country girl with the love of her farm and horses gets under his skin in more ways than one, the Suit falls under her spell.
This story has very relatable elements and watching the characters grow and fall in love is always magical. This book will no doubt hold you under its spell.
You will fall in love with these characters. I sure did. I look forward to book 2 in the series coming Spring 2015.
Pick up this book, it won't disappoint! And don't forget to check out B.N. Toler's other novels!
I was expecting something cheesy and full of drama... I was wrong! It was a little bit cheesy toward the end - like in every book - but the rest of the story was realistic, sexy and fun. Love it ! This is the one of the books which I will give 5 stars.
4.5 stars - light and sweet read with some kinky steam :) Dual POV and a lovely HEA. Missed out on the 5 star as it bordered on becoming too predictable and corny at times and towards the end but defo a book I can re-read when I'm in the mood for some light fun and likeable MC's
Беше изключително приятно-зарибяващо четиво за разнообразяване на изключително случните ми работни часове. Еди и Джони бяха големи сладури от началото до края!
It is the second time that I have read this book. It was on my favorite shelve and it still deserves to be there. I love this book just as much as the first time! I couldn’t stop reading, just like the first time. This is a amazing read and I highly recommend this steamy book with the perfect pace. Also all the characters are great and Edie and Suit are perfect for each other.
In the small town, Holly Springs, Edie James just lost her grandfather. After his funeral, she meets this man in a suit, which gets him the nickname ‘Suit’. Suit is a lawyer that her grandfather contacted for a change in his will; extra conditions for her to get the family farm with the horses. Her grandfather wants Edie to see the world and she must be sure that she wants to keep the farm, because it is hard work and she is a young woman. Edie loves the farm and it is her home, so she wants to keep living there and keep on training the horses.
Johnny Wilson, better known as Suit, lived on a farm and around horses as a kid and he doesn’t want anything to do with it anymore. Edie’s grandfather was an old family friend and Johnny promised to live with them for three months before he died. So Johnny moves in with Edie and they become friends and eventually friends with benefits. As foreplay, they reenact the erotic scenes from romantic books that she loves to read. It doesn’t take long for them to start develop feelings for each other. Edie doesn’t to want to develop these feelings, because after three months Johnny will move to New York and he will forget about her and the wonderful moments they shared. Johnny also doesn’t want to develop these feelings, because he doesn’t want to get involved with a farm girl and the life he ran from. Edie and Johnny want to be together, but they both know that there is no future for them as a couple.
Edie James is a very strong woman and a hard worker. She didn’t have the easiest life and now she just lost her beloved grandfather. She is sad of course, but goes on and she keeps on working at the farm. She is very determined to keep the farm. Everybody sees her as a ‘good and innocent’ woman, but she isn’t. She has a dirty mind and dirty fantasies. She suggested that they reenact erotic scenes. I found this unique and awesome! Johnny Wilson is a dream guy! He also didn’t have the easiest life and that is the reason why he wants to live in New York. He knows what he wants and where he wants to be, but then Edie James comes in his life and he starts to question everything. He is a hard worker and very helpful at the farm. He is also a jealous guy and that was funny to read. He was absolutely perfect at the end of book! I loved that scene and it was my favorite part of the whole book. I love them both and as a couple. It was beautiful to read how their relationship evolves and how they just can’t live without each other at the end.
The secondary characters in this book are also awesome, especially Nikki. She is the best friend of Edie. She looks like Barbie and has a potty mouth. Parker is the best friend of Johnny. They meet during this book and I want to read what happened during those days. They are the couple in the next book in this series (series of standalones) and they look to be made for each other, but I don’t think it will be an easy relationship. So I’m very excited for their story and I’m happy that I don’t have to wait long for it. I do hope that Johnny and Edie will make appearances in the next book. I would love to read more about this couple, because they aren’t long an official couple by the end of the book. This book does end beautiful!
After her grandfather dies, Edie is all ready to take over his stables and train horses. But because no one realized she has been the one doing the training, customers start pulling their horses. After the funeral, Edie and her friends go to the local bar where she meets "The Suit" John. John is there not only to pay his respects, but to finish business.
Edie's grandfather had John write up a will, that said, in order for her to keep the farm, she had to have 1 horse come in at least 3rd and she had to have 75% of the business he had. After the shock wore off, Edie knew she had a horse that could win, but with everyone pulling out she was worried about losing her home.
John had grown up on farm, his grandfather being one of the top trainers on the East Coast. But when he died, things fell a part. When he finally realized how bad it was, Edie's grandfather came and helped him save his farm plus pay for school. So when asked to do 2 things John couldnt say no. He had to draw up the will and spend a summer on the Edie's farm.
Now 2 strangers have to live together for a full summer. With John's city boy lawyer attitude and Edie's laid back country girl life. I absolutely loved this book...you will laugh most of the time but cry too. This is a MUST MUST read for all genres!!
5 STAR novel that has a little bit of everything; love, lose, jealousy, and comedy! Great storyline with amazing characters. Laugh out loud funny when the leading man gets caught reading the leading lady's SMUT book!!! I can't wait to see what happens for Parker and Nikki in book two!!! Edie has just lost her grandfather, the only family she had. It's going to be a struggle to keep the family farm, especially since finding the stipulations set forth in her grandfather's will. John is ready to take the bar exam and start his life as a lawyer. His plans are put on hold when an elderly family friend comes to him with a favor. First book read by this author. I loved it! To be honest, I thought it would drag. But I kept eating everything up and next you know, the end. Really though, it was pretty gradual. It's a lust at first sight then falling in love with each other story. Assumptions get thrown around (which I don't particularly like). But I love stories that have actual dialogue to show the characters falling in love. Which this definitely had. Add on some role play. Yes, lots of role playing. And it all makes a nice tied off HEA. The next one is going to be the fun loving, foul mouth best friends of John and Edie. Excited for that!
