FROM VILLAGE UNDERDOG TO LEADER OF A TEAM NO ONE BELIEVED IN
A TEAM DIVIDED. A DREAM WORTH FIGHTING FOR.
Jack Scorer's dream of a pro contract at Kingsdown Academy is gone. Instead, he's offered an impossible captain a brand-new team deep in the English countryside—with zero reputation, no budget, and a crumbling stadium on a forgotten hilltop.
Littleton Wanderers is divided from day one—street-smart city kids with flair and attitude versus village locals who’ve been overlooked their entire lives. Caught in the middle, Jack tries to keep the peace by living two separate lives. But as pressure builds, his web of lies begins to unravel.
When the mismatched team unexpectedly starts winning and the sleepy village erupts with football fever, Jack’s secret world begins to crack. A bitter rivalry threatens to expose his divided loyalties—and destroy everything they’ve built together.
Can he unite his team before it’s too late? Or will the pressure of wearing the Number 9 finally prove too much? If Jack can’t find the courage to face the truth—and himself—he won’t just lose the team. He’ll lose everything.

This was really a fun, fast read. There’s loads of on-pitch action, which is gripping stuff. But there’s also honest moments about friendship, honesty, and stepping up as a leader. My kid loves both reading and soccer and they couldn’t put it down. Total winner of an underdog story.
