I've been looking for this book for years, and didn't even realize it. Molly Cone's "The Trouble with Toby" has always been one of my favorite old YA books, and it occurred to me a few weeks ago to try to track down "Only Jane." It arrived yesterday and I read it and remembered it from my youth, especially the line about how some girls look better with thick eyebrows.

I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed this story of a 14 year-old girl who thought of herself as being plain, shy, and too serious while her best friend was flamboyant and careless. This is the kind of story I liked to read in my teen-age years and still like.
