Sacrifice

Rate this book
For years my life was in a state of Adjournment…

Fate had constructed a plan to push me away… to save me…

There was a danger I never knew existed, one I had never sensed.

My family positioned themselves around me.

Like Hanging Pawns, they shielded me from it and I lived blissfully unaware… until now.

Now, I know there are rules to this game...

Sacrifices to be made in order to get to End Game.

What would I Sacrifice for one more moment... one last look? Touch? Kiss?

Emersyn Valis is an author from the east coast, but not the beachy part. When she's not carting her three kids, a cat who thinks he's human, and a hamster who eats Reese's around, she can be seen with a book in her hand or on her face when she drops it from falling asleep and reading.

The ending!!! WTF?!?!

Simon was ridiculously sweet in this book. He was there for Sydney when she needed him, even if she didn't want to need him. I felt like they just accidentally fell back into a relationship. After everything that happened back at her parents house I thought she was going to walk away from Simon, nothing was set, and they didn't make any plans. Then this book started and Simon was just sort of always there.

There's stuff that happens with Priscilla and drama with the parties they go to, other socialites and the romantic lives of Sydney's sisters, Molly and Morgan along with Sydney's friends Lexi and Mea. All of this is interesting and enjoyable to read but I felt like it was all kind of filler. I want way more substantial stuff from Sydney and Simon. You're just patiently waiting for the juicy stuff to hit the pages. While I enjoy Sydney's sisters and her friends and I enjoy Simon's brothers, the story wasn't really supposed to be about them.

I spent a good of book wondering where the fuck all this is going. Wondering when I'm going to be let in on all the big secrets, and then the ending comes and I find out there are more players than I thought there were and that the accident from Sidney's past was more than just an accident. So much planning and plotting went into the events that changed Sydney's life. I can't wait to have all the answers!

Make sure you read book one Adjournment and book two Hanging Pawns before you read this fantastic story.

This is Sidney and Simons story. I so love these two characters. The author did a fantastic job with this story. I was literally gripped from start to finish. I cannot put into words how much I love this series. I can't say much about the storyline without spoilers. All I'm gonna say is these books are must reads. After that cliffhanger I'm looking forward to reading the next book on the series. Loved it.

“‘I’ve waited all day for this,’ he breathes, not waiting for the click of the door to make his attack. His hands grasp my neck, and his fingers spread through my hair, pulling me against his waiting lips, holding me against him as though he’s afraid I’ll pull away.”

5 sacrifice me stars!!! Twisted and suspenseful!

What a crazy, twisted book this was!!! I was left on the edge of my seat… page after page!! I loved getting Sidney and Simon’s story!! My review will be vague, because I don’t want to give anything away with my review!! I will say that this book will grab you by the throat and it won’t let go until the end!!! Yes, it’s that good!

“The past has a way of coming back to us, knocking us off our feet when we least expect it.”
~ Madness

Wow! Just wow! This book blew me away. So many questions that I had from the first 2 books (Adjournment and Hanging Pawns) were answered but yet not all of them and even more have been raised. These books are some of my favorites. There is love, romance, suspense, mystery. You will laugh out loud so much throughout this book. I not only love Sidney and Simon but the whole gang.

Sidney is back to her old self after so many tears of just being a shell. She is feisty, loyal, loving, forgiving, hilarious, and she can scheme with the best of them. I love Sidney now that she has freed herself from the self imposed personality exile. When she gets together with everyone the reader is sure to laugh so much. There was a few times reading this that my husband looked over at me like I was crazy because I was laughing so much. Sidney has some tough choices to make in this book and I could see her personal growth as she faced those choices. She is no longer the little girl that needs protected but she is the one who does the protecting.

Simon is as hot as ever in this book. We learn more about him and how much he loves Sidney. Although Sidney thought he was out of her life all those years they were apart, Simon never let his mind wander too far from Sidney. It is the little things that the reader learns about that will make you fall in love with Simon even more.

This story maybe mostly about Sidney and Simon but everyone around them plays a large part in their story. You can’t help but feel invested in their lives just as much as you are in Sidney and Simon’s. The author has created an amazing world to get lost in. I am anxiously awaiting the next book End Game. I need my questions answered and I need more of the whole gang but especially Simon!!

Favorite Quotes:

“I love the sound of your voice, but your words always ruin it.”

“She’s like one of those STDs you can’t get rid of… she won’t kill you, but she seems to pop up at the worst times leaving you to explain her presence.”

“This is my whole theory on aliens. We are like the Sandals resorts of the planets. So they come here and go to Vegas to gamble and have sex with our hookers,”

My Review:

This series and author just gets better and better, and I am now totally enthralled. I have become accustomed to the ping-pinging of Sidney’s thoughts and the conversations she has with family and friends, and as Sidney is more relaxed, open and adventuresome, the narrative of Sacrifice, and the observations she makes throughout are less intense and angry. The love, fun, and humor are more prevalent in this volume and the steam, mystery, and suspense have also picked up in pace. I am completely spellbound and will be glued to my kindle for the rest of the day reading the concluding book of End Game.

What in the ever loving hell is the author thinking??? Yet another cliffhanger only this one is worse. I could not believe the end of this book. My kindle was thrown at the nearest piece of furniture that would not destroy it while I cursed the authors evil brain for doing this to me yet again. I've got to get to book four asap and pray this author has come to her senses and gives us what we want!! So this one starts out with Simon and Sydney basically in a relationship, something that kind of came as a shock. It seems I'm missing some pieces between books two and three, hopefully book four will answer all my questions and NOT end in a cliffhanger!! This series has been up and down for me but I've been unable to stop, I absolutely have to know how it ends.

I laughed more at this book than I did the first two. The different couples and how all the friends interact seem like real connections. The end of this book was a little confusing, everything happened really fast, and some things didn't make sense, but I'm hoping that everything gets tied up in the last book.

I was given this book in exchange for an honest review.

Books written in first person are a hit-or-miss thing for me. There are a few authors that have forced me to overcome my first-person phobia (yes, that’s a thing). Emersyn Vallis is one of them. Where some authors “talk AT you”, Emersyn Vallis “talks TO you.” She pulls you in and allows you to become a part of the story as if you are living it right alongside the characters.

Sacrifice, the third book in the series where all the pieces start to fall into place. I laughed and cried as the twisted tale of Sidney and Simon continues. Sacrifice is the beginning of the end for everyone and sacrifices must be made. Will it be Sidney or Simon? Ends in a cliffhanger… stop do not throw you e-reader at the wall, you still have one more book.

The entire series is centered around Sidney Chandler (a snarky, sarcastic, panic attack prone, make-up artist with a serious peanut butter cup addiction), Simon McAllister (one third of the McAllister triplets, Sidney’s sexy arrogant ex, who still holds her heart), and a long history of events that tore them apart.

Sidney is completely lovable, full of angst and a hair trigger temper she tries desperately to control. Simon is one of those characters you’re not sure how to read. He’s an enigma, but you can’t help but hate love him so hard.

It doesn’t end with them. Every single secondary character, plays an integral part in the history that was once S&S. There’s Sidney’s older sisters – twins Morgan and Molly (both of whom have a penchant for violence, dirty Shirley Temples, and may or may not need medication). Lexi, Sidney’s business partner, best friend and roommate (an avid reader and alien conspiracy theorist, who doesn’t hear half the innuendo that comes out of her mouth). Simon’s womb mates Chase (the know it all) and Dean (the “weak” one)–both are just as hot and intriguing as Simon. Sidney’s mother- aka Madness (who has a Bailey’s addiction), the triplet’s mother Judith aka Pain in the A**, Sidney’s Grams (who has no filter and I really want to be just like her when I grow up), their friends Josh, Brett, Jacob, and Mea… and a few surprise characters along the way. I won’t spoil it.

Full of suspense, snarky humor, intrigue, intelligence, complex characters and plot line–The Fated Series is a roller coaster ride to the very end. With plenty of sexy times, secondary relationships, laughs, tears, and surprises along the way to make it a ride you don’t want to miss.

Embrace the Cups and Fear the Madness–do yourself a favor read this series! Well done Emersyn Vallis I really hated to see it end. I highly recommend the entire series and will read it again.

4 1/2 STAR THOUGHTS

HOW?! WHY?! That did not just end like that! I should have known and prepared myself after the first 2 books, but once again BAM another CLIFFHANGER! Hello, I need the next book like NOW! I need more Sidney and Simon! I love these two together! And if it is even possible I think I laughed out loud (hysterically a few times) more times than I should probably admit! I love this group of friends/family!

**DO NOT CONTINUE READING IF YOU HAVEN'T READ ADJOURNMENT AND HANGING PAWNS**

"How did I get here? Not this specific seat exactly… I mean here, in this part of my life, where I never would have considered being."

Now that Sidney is finally back to her "real" self and her and Simon are "sort of" together, everything seems to be falling back into place. Her and Simon are definitely together, just hasn't been made official. In some ways Sidney is hesitant to proclaim her love for someone. She still has a guard up and their love-hate relationship is hilarious. But she can't deny what one look at him does to her. He is the definition of swoon worthy! I love how protective he is of her. And them too together is explosive and HOT!

"You know when something big is about to happen, and you can't really explain what it is. You just feel the momentum of this thing building. It twists and turns in the pit of your stomach, making you both excited and nauseous with anticipation. That's what I feel like."

Sidney is having nightmares again, but not about something that hasn't happened yet, this nightmare has already happened. Reluctantly she lets Simon be there for her, growing there connection to a new level. Old enemies are back causing trouble, but sometimes the danger lies where you never expected it. New questions and more drama. Will Simon and Sidney ever find their way to forever? Or will a sacrifice take it all from them.

"A sacrifice in chess is the act of voluntarily giving up a piece to ones' opponent in order to obtain other kinds of advantages, e.g. an attack…"

I NEED MORE! Yes I will beg, please write faster! And I hope we will finally get all the answers we need! I loved this book and getting to know these characters and their relationships even more. As if the Chandler sisters and those sexy McAllister brothers weren't funny enough with their one liners, Mea, Lexi, and Sidney are beyond hilarious. Can't wait to see what is next!

Review on behalf of The Book Boyfriend Addict
“Sidney, when I kiss you it will be because I’m the last boy you’ll ever kiss…not the first. You’re going to kiss lots of men in your life…but I’m going to be the final one.”

Sacrifice continues on with Sydney and Simon’s story and boy do I love Simon even more. Sydney is still trying to guard her heart and for good reason however more and more he is starting to win her over. Now that they are out of their bubble in the Hampton's they now have to deal with whatever obstacles life throws at them and there are a bunch. With their amazing friends and siblings, they take everything in stride and are determined not to let anything get in their way of their fate.

Sydney is everything you want in a main character she is a mixture of fierce, feisty, loyal, loving and just the right mix of bat shit crazy!! Her inner musing and quick wit kept me laughing throughout the book. When you add in her and Simon’s family and you can’t help but share passages of the book with anyone around you because you are laughing so hard.

“We’re celebrating our friendship tonight.” We exchange a sly grin. “To Crazy and Baggage…a match made in absolute hell.” She winks at me and I agree.

With the humor there also comes the drama and danger. The secrets that have been hinted at are starting to be revealed, which brings the overarching suspense of the book from the background to front and center. There are new players and new dangers in this book that will make you what to immediately start the next book because you can’t wait to find out what happens next and how it all ties together.

There is only so much I can say to ensure I don’t give anything away but this series went from a 4 Star to a 5 Star for me with the addition of this book. I am extremely impressed that this is Emersyn’s first series with Adjournment being her first book. The plot line and interactions of the characters are so well thought out and it certainly has me guessing. I feel every emotion that Sydney feels while reading the book and I find myself asking the same questions she is. If you want to check out a great series from a great author I highly recommend this one and I can’t wait for the conclusion in End Game!!

“What was it you used to say? ‘Life is only lived once, so live it.’ You could stand to take a page from your own book.”

Pay attention to the silence...it speaks louder than words...

We pick up right where Hanging Pawns left off, and the best part is that it's all from Sidney's point of view! Sidney has been having nightmares of something that has happened to her. She hasn't had the opportunity to tell Simon just yet that she loves him, and feels that if she does then he could potentially leave, and not come back for her. While Sidney was in a shell of a world, she has come out more in this book, and is definitely a different person throughout the entire book.

Simon is back, and lovable as always. I did not like him in Adjournment and really feel that he has redeemed himself in Sacrifice. Throughout the book he is always leaving peanut butter cups for Sidney which seems to be her go-to choice of calming remedies. He is also sure to always put Sidney ahead of himself, and never once thinks that she is a thought in the back of his mind. Although they are not officially together, there is definitely some steamy chemistry between the two, and I LOVE IT!!

A lot of questions that appeared in Adjournment and Hanging Pawns were answered in Sacrifice. As always though, there are still more questions that I am really hoping will be answered come End Game. There is a cliffhanger at the end of this book, and it will not disappoint you, at all! I wasn't sure whether I wanted to throw my Kindle, or cry. Sidney is the most selfless book character in the 45 books that I have read this year!

I really like that Emersyn takes the time to include Mea, Lexi, Dean, Morgan, Molly, Chase, and so many of the other characters throughout the book. I think that this is a pivotal point for this series, and that it sets it aside from the other books that are out there. There is never a dull moment with this group, and I feel like a lot of readers can relate to the entire series, and each character individually. Emersyn has just done a wonderful job in keeping the series going, and I am really looking forward to the finishing touches on the Fates.

Emersyn Vallis has done a wonderful job on the Fate Series. Adjournment, Hanging Pawns, and now Sacrifice are definitely in my definite recommend list, and re-read list for 2014/2015.

Left me throwing my kindle….

This is the third installment of the Fate series and returns to focus on Sidney and Simon. You definitely have to read the series in order as the secrets and nuances are revealed slowly and in tantalizing bits through each novel. The history of these two lovers is anything but smooth and throughout the pages of each chapter we learn more about what has brought them to this point. They’ve known each other since they were kids, next door neighbors, amidst two loud and loving families. Their connection was never lost through almost a decade of separation. What happened to drive them apart has been slowly revealed from the first book and still has not been fully explained. With their families and friends ever present, they offer the buffer they want but also the catalyst they need to move forward. Could they finally work through and overcome the tragedy of the past to build a future together? Would fate allow them the chance?

I was not kidding! I read the last page, the last sentence, the last word, go to turn the page… and that was it. The kindle was thrown! I love this series and my disappointment in this cliffhanger ending is tempered by the fact that I get to read another book in the series – awesome! The books have been a treat – the stories are well-written while the dialogue is wonderfully smart and sarcastic. I have smiled more, snickered, and just laughed out loud more times than I can count. At the same time the emotions and love that drive the characters has brought a lump to my throat as well. The main and secondary characters alike are real, flawed, yet totally endearing. Even those you want to roll your eyes at are likeable in their own way. My only complaint is the next book isn’t available yet! I need to know what happens – bring it on!

Reviewed for Paranormal Romance and Authors that Rock.

If you have read any of my other reviews, you know how much I abhor cliffhanger endings. I always have, and I always will, but it seems like that is more and more where authors are going. I say this as a warning that this book, like many other series books these days, ends on a cliffhanger. That leads me to also say that there isn't really a HEA for the main characters, either.

I have previously read Hanging Pawns, which is the second book in this series, but I've not yet had a chance to read Adjournment. It has also been quite some time since I read Hanging Pawns. Those two things leave me at a disadvantage because many things are referenced in this book which occurred in the characters' pasts and there is minimal "catch up".

All that being said, you'll see I still gave the book 4 stars. That is for the character development. I really enjoyed seeing the world through Sidney's eyes. She has an interesting view of the world and you can really tell how much she loves Simon. She also, despite her distaste for physical affection at the beginning of the book, loves her family and friends. I also found myself a little jealous of her for the devotion that Simon shows to her.

I need to read the first book of the series, and re-read the second. Doing that might cause me to re-think my rating. However, many series books I've read try to at least give a passing nod to catching up readers for whom the book they are reading is the first book of theirs that they've read. I would have liked to have seen a bit more of that. The ending also seemed to come out of left field for me. Again, that might be because I was missing some of the story. The book was an entertaining read, nonetheless. The love scenes aren't terribly frequent and are not very graphic. However, they are present enough that I wouldn't recommend the book to anyone younger than 17.

Arc received in exchange for an honest review.

Sacrifice is book 3 in the Fate series, and is the continuation of Simon and Sydney's story. Please read Adjournment and Hanging Pawns (book 1&2) before reading Sacrifice, the previous stories give all the background into the Chandler/ McAllister family's history.

This series although slow to start off, has taken hold of me and Sacrifice started to answer some of my questions while leaving many more new ones. Sydney has grown up, moved on and has finally given herself to Simon, they have always been in love with each other, but circumstances kept them apart. Not anymore....

Their relationship goes beyond sex... he is her anchor, but their hilarious banter of love/hate had me cracking up a number of times and receiving strange looks while I burst out laughing, in public.... I just adore their characters. Along with Simon's brothers Chase and Dean, Sydney's twin sister's Morgan and Molly, Syd's best friend's Lexi, Mea, Jacob and Josh this close knit group cause more trouble than a group of unwatched children in a candy shop.

As Sydney comes to terms with Mea and her past she forgives and lets her in... She very quickly becomes a close friend to Sydney and working on set her her hubby brings them even closer.

Although this series is about Sydney and Simon I loved the way Emersyn wrote in the other family members and their apparent love for each other. This is a great cast of characters that are not only loveable, but funny, quick witted and undeniably fiercely protective of each other.... But this cliffhanger has me questioning if being protective can save one of their own.

I anxiously await End game, the final book in the Fate series....

Sacrifice is book 3 in The Fate series. You must read Adjournment (book 1) and Hanging Pawns (book2) to be able to follow whats going on in this book. This story is focused on Simon and Sidney but all of the characters are present in this book as well. With that being said, these books are a must read!

Simon and Sidney's story is amazing. I was hooked from the very first chapter. The first two books left us with so many questions. While most of them were answered in this book, naturally you are left with even more questions by the end. And lets talk about the end....that cliffhanger. I had to double check to make sure i didn't crack the screen on my kindle when i sent it flying across the room. I tried to turn the page and to my dismay, there were no more pages to turn. How could you do that to us, Mrs Vallis???????

The character development is on point and Mrs Vallis did a phenomenal job with this series. Sidney is such a loving and selfless character. Simon wasn't my favorite hero but he really grew on me with this book and I love him now. You really see how much Simon cares for her, and learn that after all of these years, she was never far from his heart or mind. The two have grown so much, both as individuals and as a couple. The witty and sarcastic dialogue and the scheming that goes on with this group of friends will have you laughing so hard you cry. If that isn't enough to keep you turning the pages faster than you'd like, the suspense and romance will surely do it for you.

I fully enjoyed reading this series and luckily for me, End Game is available now so i will be diving into ASAP. I cannot recommend this series enough. Mrs Vallis has created a wonderful fictional world to get lost in. This is one series you do not want to pass up!

Ok, so I am on a roll now, my third book of the series in the last three days, so it is all beginning to fall into place…or at least that is what I thought! Because believe me you need all your faculties about you with this read because the author does it again, she builds the tension, loads the characters and then …bang…another cliff hanger!
I like that Sidney came out of her shell more in this book, that even though she was having nightmares, she was sort of finding herself through them, it was as if she was piecing herself together bit by bit and that made for some fascinating reading.
Her emotional state was so fragile that at times that her reasoning was easy to think of as being flawed but she had good reason and despite the fact that Simon worshipped the ground she walked on, she still couldn’t find it in her to admit to him that she loved him.
With Simon, there is never any doubt, she is it for him and he is willing to do whatever it takes to show her that he is beside her every step of the way, I loved Simon in this story, I think he finally came into his own. The chemistry between him and Sidney was intense and while they may not have totally gotten their act together, I was keeping my fingers crossed that, that was only a matter of time.
As I said earlier the author loaded the book with the secondary characters that we have already come to know and love, and she also pitched in with some of the answers to the questions that had been niggling away at me. I got my answers but cleverly, not all of them.

Mea has been trying to get Sidney to agree to make her, her personal assistant. Sidney tells Mea that she doesn't like women and reminded her that she is Josh's personal assistant. When Mea told her that Josh was getting boring, Sidney finally agreed to her becoming her assistant. Sidney doesn't do cuddling so she said that Mea could sleep on the couch and she could cuddle with Lexi. What? Really! I am so glad that book 4 End Game is out after ending like that. Cliffie alert fortunately the 4th book is out now and ready to read. Before reading Sacrifice I highly recommend that you read these books in order. The order is: Adjournment #1 Hanging Pawns #2 Sacrifice #3 and End Game #4 and Adjournment at the time of reading The Fate Series is free for the time being. No idea how long that will last.

I have really enjoyed reading The Fate Series. Even though this is Simon’s and Sidney’s story there are other characters that are a huge part of this series. They are Josh and Mea, Brett & Lexi, Morgan and Chase, Dean & Molly. I wish I had a relationship with friends and family like this when I was younger.

There are some laugh out loud moments in this book. A lot of playful teasing going on. Which I loved. I don’t want to go to deep into who everyone is because I don’t want to give away any spoilers. This is a cute series that is also scorching hot at times.

I did find at times I felt confused with all the characters yet I wouldn’t want anyone to be cut. I love them all. And, I think the author does a great job keeping them all separated but, I wanted to make up a flow chart or something to help me keep them organized in my brain.

I can’t wait to delve into book 4 End Game but, it needs to wait a bit so I can get caught up on my ARC’s for TaSTy WordGasms. Sacrifice was not an ARC. I give it 4.5 Stars.

I cried in this book. The twisted tale of the Chandler and McAllister families is very intriguing. The sacrifices that Simon made- sigh. I just hurt thinking about it.

Clues are being dropped for Sidney. Mysterious appearances of personal items in odd places. Challenges are being brought out in the open. But what is the end game? What will be sacrificed?

Ive seen other reviews that say that the first book is confusing and leaves gaps but i disagree if you dont read the first one you really dont understand the connections in 2, 3, and 4.

We jump back in to Simon and Sidney's story where we left off after Adjournment. This series is amply named and the comparison to a chess game is right on. If you enjoy books that keep you guess and don't give away all that will happen this is it for you. I don't want to go into much detail because everything is strategically set up so you learn certain things at certain time I will say I cannot wait for how this is all going to end. Just remember what happens in Vegas doesn't always stay in Vegas. Love love love all the characters and the individuality they each have that makes a great dynamic

Sydney is amazing and beautiful and always my favorite character.Such a strong and amazing girl.

5 stars all the way

**I received this book from Enticing Journey in exchange for a fair and honest review.**
I was quite shocked that this book goes back to Sidney’s POV, much like the first book. I enjoy Sidney and Simon as characters, they are witty, creative, and emotional.
Unfortunately, this book seemed kind of stale or a slow start. I loved the first and second book and this book was tough to get started. However, once you get it started, it flows quite well.
I love reading just how into Sidney Simon is. I love every time that Sidney is needing a peanut butter cup fix Simon is always there with them. It is so frustrating that they don’t just admit to their love for one another rather than beating around the bush.
Priscilla is still around and at times back with a vengeance! Her character really ruffles my feathers at the antics she is up to. The author does such an incredible job writing her character and evoking emotion from her readers in such a manner.
This author absolutely loves her cliff hangers! Be prepared to be left hanging once you finish this book, just as the first two. Don’t fret too much as the author does a great job bringing the books together so far!

If you find yourself in a life or death situation, what are you willing to sacrifies?

Sydney, Morgan, Molly, Mea, Lexi, Dean, Chase, Josh and Simon are taking you into another phase of this wild journey that will leave you feeling emotionally drained.

Sydney is finally celebrating her 30th birthday with all her family and friends. Molly has gone away with planning one huge party for her but like always there will always be something lurking in the shadows.

Simon and the rest of the gang will finally celebrate with Sydney on her big day, however this new happy phase will not last long the horrible evil that is lurking in the shadows will strike and someone will have to be sacrificed.

Oh my this installment is so good you will be left with your jaw on the floor and your heart beating so fast you will want to read the last book of the series right away.

I for once love this series not only it has the perfect amount of suspense it balanced out with the funny scenes. Let's not forget how hot the sex scenes between Sydney and Simor are. You do not want to miss this book/series.

Gifted by author for an honest review.

The third book in the Fate series takes us back to Simon and Sidney and while I really enjoyed the story, I'm so confused!

There are so many laugh out loud moments, I love the humour and especially love the sarcasm.

Sidney is such an amazing character. She's tough, loyal and has a will of steel yet behind all of that is compassion and love.

There are moments in this story that take you back in time, showing you some of Sidney's best memories of her childhood with Simon and they are incredibly beautiful!

All of the best characters are back in Sacrifice and their bonds are stronger than ever, they're still playing hilarious tricks on one another which offer some the best moments in the book.

The ending really confused me though and I don't know if that's a fault on my part or if the author purposely meant to leave me this way ( if so, very clever Emersyn Vallis aka Penishead!)

I'm off now to read book four in the series, End Game and will hopefully get some answers! ( If not I will be putting on my best pair of heels and I will find you Miss Emersyn!)

Oh and if you're still not sure on whether to try this series, Sidney on pain pills? I laughed so hard I pulled my stomach muscles!

Once you think this series has a secret, it just keeps getting bigger. I really enjoyed this book. I got to see Sidney and Simon in a great moment. I also got to find out a little more about the other characters and how the families knew each other. This entire series was read from start to finish in a matter of a week. Sidney and Simon are so real, it isn't the mucky stuff, the fights, the bickering, it's refreshing. You have to read the entire series in one sitting because of each cliff hanger. The stories just keep getting deeper and deeper. You will continue to be surprised in this series. A truly amazing read so far.

Blurb:
For years my life was in a state of Adjournment…

Fate had constructed a plan to push me away… to save me…

There was a danger I never knew existed, one I had never sensed.

My family positioned themselves around me.

Like Hanging Pawns, they shielded me from it and I lived blissfully unaware… until now.

Now, I know there are rules to this game...

Sacrifices to be made in order to get to End Game.

What would I Sacrifice for one more moment... one last look? Touch? Kiss?

The answer is simple…

Everything.

I have to say this author certainly has mastered the art of jaw dropping cliffhangers! I'm dying to see how everything turns out in the final book. There was a couple BIG revelations in this book, yet still so many questions to answer.
There were quite a few things in this book that didn't quite work for me. First of all, there is a lot happening with the secondary relationships between Sidney's twin sisters and Simon's other two triplet brothers, as well as Lexi and Brett. I found it all rather hard to keep track of. I would have preferred if the story focused more on just Sydney and Simon and maybe gave Morgan & Molly (with Dean and Chase) their own stories because as much as there was revealed about their relationships, there is much opportunity to go deeper.
Quite a few times I found that what I was reading was a little vague or didn't make sense. However, I wasn't always sure if that's because there was a hint being dropped or if it was just because it needed to be worded more clearly.
Overall, I'm very impressed with the plot line. I'm a sucker for a book with secrets and I'm certainly hooked on this series for that reason.

Sacrifice (The Fate Series Book3)

Book three is back to Simon and Sidney and I’m so glad that these characters are back. Even though sometimes books are rushed to fit everything in together, it’s not the same with this series. Everything is planned and smooth and it never leaves you feeling as if it’ cramped.
It might be my favourite book in the series, even though it did end in a cliff hanger but that just makes me want to read End Game even more.

The Characters.

Simon! I love him even more now thanks to the peanut butter thing. You’ll understand once you read the book but if that doesn’t show he loves Sidney then I honestly don’t know what will.
Sidney! I feel like we get to know her, the real Sidney so much more in this book. She’s more fun and is even stronger than before.
I also love all the secondary characters! I will say one thing though, I LOVE VEGAS. Everyone together is gold!

I can’t wait to read End Game, if it’s going to be anything like this one then it’s going to be awesome!

5 stars!

I just love The Hamptons..and Peanut Butter Cups!, May 26, 2016

I received this book as an ARC.

This story continues with Sidney and Simon’s relationship growing to a level of seriousness that Sidney tries to dismiss. She has to admit that Simon has been her soul mate since childhood. Simon tries to keep Sidney calm and yet keep her focused on him. This story is hilarious in his attempts to control Sidney’s attempts at being an independent adult in complete control of her life...and using peanut butter cups as her drug of choice! I love how Simon pursues Sidney and she doesn’t really know it. Mea sneaks into Sidney’s heart, the twin sisters worm their way into Sidney’s everyday life despite her attempts at avoiding all the family drama. This story will keep you paying attention to all of the details the author is giving you to solve a couple of mysteries woven into the storyline. The story starts to get more intriguing at every page and has you deciding on the outcome before all is revealed.

Sacrifice (book 3) by Emersyn Vallis

I received an ARC for an honest review.

This is a must read series!

You will need to read Adjournment and Hanging Pawns before this book.

This book left me wanting more and left me with some questions which I'm sure I will have answered in the next book.

You get love, mystery and suspense all in one. I love books that can encompass all of that into one book.

I laughed out loud from reading sacrifice, you would think by the title that it would be sad but it's not.

Sidney is back to her old self after being an empty shell for a long time. I have been like that before and it's not fun.

Sidney is a loyal, feisty, loving and hilarious girl. She is like me in some ways, we are loyal and feisty.

You see personal growth in Sacrifice and can feel what Sidney goes through. You feel every emotion she feels too.

We learn a lot about Simon in this book and how much he loves Sidney. He never strayed from her either which says he is loyal to her. You will love Simon too and it's the little things that you fall in love that he dies for Sidney.

*A Copy of this Book Was Given To Me By The Author In Exchange For An Honest Review*

I cannot stress too strongly that to enjoy this you must read the first two books in the series first – Adjournment and Hanging Pawns.
This (Book Three) is the story of Sidney and Simon.
You meet all the characters again and the tale is told from Sidney’s point of view; something I was very pleased about as she was my personal favourite in Book Two. The only spoiler I will give is that it ends with a cliff-hanger and you will be keen to read the conclusion in End Game, published 24th April 2015. I will now read and review that.
