~If Images are worth a thousand words, hers sing a thousand Eternal songs~

The blood of a Guardian, the heart of an artist, no one can hide the truth from Amanda Hayworth. Focusing her visions through her camera lens, she reveals secrets no one plans to expose, even her own. To protect herself, Mandy hides her ability in plain sight, photographing local bands and showcasing the dramatic images on her website. Most bands beg for a feature article. But the new lead singer of one particular up and coming band isn’t like anyone she’s ever met. Lucien entangles her with his mystery and makes Mandy want things she’s never wanted before—strings.

Lucien Solvak has to impress an influential music blogger whose promotion could skyrocket his new band to stardom or flush them straight into the gutters. But the moment Mandy aims her camera his direction, he fears the images will expose his ties to the immortal he’s sworn to protect and destroy his one chance to live out his musical dream. Hiding from her camera is tough enough. Denying his growing feelings becomes an impossible feat, forcing Lucien to choose between oaths as a Guardian, his rock-star dreams, and the girl he wants.

Secrets define them. Lucien’s bind him to silence; Mandy’s bring her nothing but pain and disappointment. Only when they focus on what’s behind the images can they embrace their secrets for what they are—truth.

She is the IT girl, the one all the wanna be rock stars want to impress. Amanda blogs about musicians and is powerful enough to make or break them, so being photographed, talked about or even noticed by her is like winning the musical lotto. So why does the new lead singer for an established band want to avoid the spotlight or the camera?

Lucian is gorgeous, with the voice of an angel, and the beautiful woman behind the camera he just blocked has him feeling flashbulbs going off in his heart. Too bad she doesn’t mix business with pleasure, but can a compromise be made? They both hide secret lives, they both have so much to lose, but pictures never lie and with Mandy’s special ability, her camera tells her the color of the essence of the person in front of her, and Lucian’s photos are telling her nothing, which is telling her something huge, but she doesn’t catch on. She is a Guardian, he is a Guardian, but they are sworn to secrecy and it hurts. Will a twist of fate give them permission to be together or will they be forced to go their separate ways, while continuing their duties to protect immortals?

Images Eternal by Toni Decker puts paranormal romance onto a whole new track as this time out, the denial and the alpha tendencies seem to come from Mandy while Lucian is wearing his heart on his sleeve and desperate to have a chance with the woman he was meant to find and cherish. Refreshing, a little different and kind of hot, Toni Decker has a fresh tale to share with a fresh writing style that is sure to suck each reader in, one page at a time.

I was lucky enough to beta this book and it remains one of my favorites for 2014. The characters are so vivid, the story is well crafted and the imagery is incredibly beautiful. This story's world is one that haunts me still. And for a reader, there is nothing better than a story you can't forget. I looking forward to the next installment!

*This book was provided by the publisher/author to me for an honest review.

Toni Decker is a pair of unpolished diamonds!! The writing duo does not disappoint in the paranormal romance department!! I mean really! Mandy can see your secrets and does so stealthily behind the lenses of her camera. Lucien (Love the name BTW) is sexy on a stick with a dash of intrigue and rock star pizzazz!! He is hidden but not by stardom, but by the immortal world he protects. CAN IT GET ANY BETTER!!

Why yes it can! The two authors have perfected their skills and were able to bring depth to their characters and build a world that is undeniable. If I could write a two word review it would be ~ READ IT!!!

The romance sizzles, the mystery keeps you guessing and the best part about it is that book two is already released!!! No waiting my NERDS!! Grab both books and start reading!!

Toni Decker my fine little writing duo I tip my Nerd Girl hat to you twice and even give you applause!!!

His reason for keeping his debut with Demon Dogs secret appeared to revolve around his master marketing plan, but in reality, music was Lucien’s only chance to find purpose outside his hidden life. A life he could never expose.

In this first book of The Shoalman Chronicles by Toni Decker we get introducet to a world full of passion. Mandy is a passionated music blogger and one of the big names in the local scene. Lucien, the new lead singer of Demon Dogs, is a mysterious, but talented guy with an aversion of Mandy’s camera. Between both of them there is a world full of mysteries, demons, curses and Romani traditions.

As a blogger and musician, I needed to read this book. To mix it with this mystery-story made it even more interesting and unique. I loved the way both worlds are connected with each other. Mandy is able to see what I would call “aura” of the people she photographs. She has no idea, why she is able to see some people wrapped in a dark haze – people with dark secrets like Jay, the drummer and one of her ex-lovers. Or people full of light, like herself and her mother. Or people wrapped in a kaleidoscope of colors like Lucien. The idea was really nice and Toni Decker knew how to interwine it with Romani secrets and some supernatural elements. And it works – because the language is very descriptive at some points, but definitely not in the whole book.
Lucien’s fate is somehow tied with hers. Both are deeply fascinated by and attracted to each other, so it gets clear quite early, that they have some very special connection.
I also was surprised by how Decker develops the relationships with other characters. There aren’t that many characters in the book, but she gave enough space to everyone. Especially the relationship between Mandy and her father started quite difficult and had to develop a lot. But without making it a second action – it’s always linked to the main story and has a reason to be there.
The relationship between Lucien and his kind of peevish boss Robert Shoalman was more difficult. I am still not sure if I got it right – but maybe that’s intended and will get clearer with the next books. Lucien is his guardian. He has no idea how to do his job, but it’s his fate. Robert himself is cursed – he has to suffer and to paint for the demons.

“Finish loading.” Robert stated. “We will discuss this later.”
“I made a mistake-“
“Mistakes get people killed in my world,” Robert snapped.

Unfortunately, we never get to know what kind of demons that are. Monsters? Devils? And is Lucien some kind of an angel? I’m still wondering and I wished, there would be more details.
The art motive gets a lot of space, too. Probably, it will be more important in the next books. I really liked the descriptions and the whole idea of combining arts with the story.

The plot itself is divided into many, many scenes. That makes the story lively and it never gets boring, but it also was a bit exhausting. Anyway, I never had the feeling, some of the scenes had no sense or could be deleted. Decker really knows how to find the middle way.

I also would like to mention a point that could be good to know for other readers. This book has a lot of sexual content. Not explicit, but there is nearly permanently a sexual tension between the two main characters. If you’re looking for a fluffy love story, this is maybe not the right book for you.

“Get a grip”, Lucien muttered to himself. “It’s not like you could sing your way into her bed.” He couldn’t even take her to his place. A stranger in his world wasn’t only unwelcomed, but forbidden.

4 of 5 stars, because it’s a great and creative mixture of elements that never gets boring, but at some points I wished there were more information to get a clue of what is going on.

New Adult, Paranormal Romance

Well paced, a good page turner with chapter endings that enticed you to keep reading (without making you unable to do so). The characters are likable and believable and through them the author brings in New Adult themes without having the story be unnecessarily angst-ridden. The paranormal element, while understated, adds that extra to challenge the character's motivations and drive stronger conflict.

One of the better books I've read all year.

Images Eternal by Toni Decker is an amazing five star read, it’s the first book in the Shoalman chronicles. Book two being Shoalman immortal. They are fast paced and have you hooked in the first few pages easier than hook a duck at the fairground.
Amanda Hayworth or Mandy as most people know her is a music blogger who is gaining a rep for knowing the best new bands and featuring them and some amazing photography on her website. Somehow managing to capture the essence of a person, most people think she has photo shopped her pictures but only she knows the truth.
Lucien Solvak is the lead singer of the Demon Dogs, a band that never seems to go far as just as they get there something happens like they lose a member of the band to another band or they lose them to their addiction. Until Lucian showed up that was, with his crazy white tattoos and eargasmic voice that gives even the drummer Jay a hard on. Mandy can’t tear her ears from Lucien and he just intrigues her so much more when he demands that she doesn’t take any photos of him.
The no photo rule is apparently part of his major re-brand and marketing idea, but Lucien is really just scared someone will figure who he or his uncle are and the people they are hiding from will find them. Then Lucien would truly feel that he isn’t good enough as a Guardian, something he worries about enough already.
Mandy and Lucien come to an agreement and exclusive interview for Mandys website will guarantee the band the publicity they need, in return she gets to take one photo a day, something she can’t understand how she will do at first as her camera is an extension of her very being.
The authors that are Toni Decker have really done this book proud, they have pulled it all together so even though there are several storylines that are all pulling together you don’t get lost. The support characters are all well written and have a place, there isn’t one person who is there to just fill space. Each character has their own voice and is able to tell their story. I can’t wait to read Shoalman immortal, and plan to put off the rest of my TBR pile to read I straight away.

LOVED IT! I was so intrigued by Mandy and her ability to "see" more than the pictures she takes. Lucien was a hot number that had more on his shoulders than most 18-yr-olds. His dream to share his music is at risk if he lets Mandy see too much through her camera lens. I loved how Lucien pretended to be a roadie. Too cute (and clever). I enjoyed her game of the restaurant where she has connections and lives near by. The date is a cute set up. That camera is almost an extension of Mandy's right arm. To set it down is a struggle for her, as she wants to see what things really are through it. She saw more of her ex, and drummer of the band, than he realizes. He has more going on that we get to know. I like how the name and music morphs and changes as Lucien becomes more involved with the band. I like how protective Mandy is of her best friend (we begin to find out why...). I also like how she seems to have her finger on the pulse of the music scene. Her pics and endorsement can make or break a band's chances at fame. Loads happen that kept me glued to the book. I was mad a couple of times about everything, but I loved to read on and have it resolved. The imagery used at the concery with the glass hall and Robert and all was cool! I can't wait to read book 2!

This was a great read with shrouded mysteries.

Although the beginning wasn't that much interesting for me till the better part of the story. But once you've gotten to the interesting you wouldn't want to stop reading it.

I liked the characters enough but it wasn't Lucien and Amanda that got my interest but Robert. Won't spoil anymore than that. I actually liked Jay too. I have mixed feelings about him since he seems pretty okay except how Manda described him. I also felt sorry for him.

Now back to Lucien and Amanda. I was surprised about the age with Amanda there. Not that there's wasn't anything wrong with it but it's different. I rarely come across books that's like that and I enjoyed reading their relationship immensely. I also wish to know more about the Romani heritage and of being a guardian since that wasn't explained clearly.

I got a sneak peek of the next book and I'm loving it. Truth be told, I was looking forward to reading more about them but that doesn't mean I did not enjoy Lucien and Amanda's story.

The idea of being able to use your camera to see "more" is unique. I really liked Mandy and I believe that others will feel a connection with this young lady. She is bright and ambitious and she takes what she does seriously. The only thing I would have liked to have had in this book is more of the paranormal aspect. I want to know more about the guardians and I kept waiting for more details but they didn't come. I want to know more about Mama T and both Luciens and Mandy's tats. I am hoping that the next book gives me more insight. If your looking for some romance with a little bit of the paranormal then this book is for you. You will really enjoy the passion between Lucien and Mandy.

I didn't feel like reading, I had felt down for like a week, but I picked up this book since I had planned to read it a week ago.

After first chapter I was curious enough to continue, after the first two chapters I was so immersed in the story that I read it all in one sitting. It has been months since a book took me so deep under with so strong and well defined characters and well planned plot line of a paranormal romance, that is not over the top.

I feel like I have found a readers hidden gem in the writer duo Toni Decker, I've already put book two of The Shoalman Chronicles on my TBR list for some rainy afternoon.

4 GR stars from me.

Wow! What a fantastic start to a series. Right from the beginning this book drew me into the mysterious and complex lives of its characters, Lucien and Amanda. Their worlds collide and an undeniable attraction between them grows but they both have secrets and obligations that a this attractions could put at risk. I loved getting to know these vibrant characters as their story unfolded but I have a feeling that there is much more to learn about the secrets that they keep and I am already looking forward to reading more of this series and seeing what secrets are uncovered next.

I was wary about getting this and, well, for me I was right to be. The synopsis sounded like it had the potential to be at least okay, but it fell flat even from that low expectation.

This was truly a hard book to get through but I had to because of a few reading challenges I'm in. Everything about the book bothered me. From the shallowness and vapidness of the characters to the insipid writing and plot. It was not immersive at all and tedious.

Maybe things get better and are more thoroughly explained in the following books of this series, but I'm not inclined to continue it to find out.

"Images Eternal" is the first book of the Shoalman Chronicles, which is a paranormal romance and new adult trilogy. This book can be read as a standalone because the story of the couple ends here, but I would advise to read the following books as well because not all the questions were answered.

Images Eternal deals with the story of Amanda "Mandy" Hayworth, a young woman with the passion for music and photography. She keeps a blog on the music bands of her town and it seems as if she is so influential to the point that these groups sink or shine thanks to her words. She also has a gift, she can read people's auras through her pictures.
A group Mandy has endorsed in the past, Demon Dogs, is in need of a new feature on her blog because they have just changed singer and they need a boost. The new singer is Lucien Solvak, a mysterious dark-haired guy with deep blue eyes that doesn't want his pictures taken for Mandy's article. Mandy is intrigued by the reasons and the secret Lucien may be hiding or protecting, and while she tries to get to know him, she also finds interesting facts about herself.

Ever since the first words of the first chapter, I knew I was gonna love this book. It is in the third person POV but the personalities of the characters are shown very well. I love how the characters and their actions are described because you can tell the authors (Toni and Kira Decker) did an amazing job creating the atmosphere of this series. The characters are far from the stereotypes and they have a mind of their own. Lucien is not your usual playboy who treats the woman with no care until he has sex with her. He is a young guy who has insecurities and is kind of cute. He wants to follow his dreams and stay with the girl he likes but also dedicate himself to his duties. Mandy is also not your usual woman. She is feisty, she wants to find love but she is also scared to be deceived, that is why she protects herself from others behind her camera. Things change when Lucien and Mandy meet. They are protecting themselves because they think the other may not understand how they live and their responsibilities, but they soon discover that may not be true; they can actually help themselves and each other through their journey to protect who they love and stay together. I would love for their "job" (let's call it like this not to spoil who reads the review) to be explored more in the second book. We were told what Lucien does and I got what is Mandy's quest as well, but the characters who had to explain things, let's say it ike this, haven't directly said "hey, you're this/that and these are your origins".

Besides this, I can't tell anything bad about this book, because I loved it in its entirety!

If you love new adult books with a slight fantasy/paranormal touch and a strong female character who doesn't have men ordering her things, this is the book for you.

Mandy Hayworth is a blogger. Not just an ordinary blogger but one with a following. She was also a photographer who captured images of people and their underlying essence. The photos revealed exactly who the person is beyond the facade they put up. Mandy’s blogs make or break the up and coming rock bands. One of the rock bands she was following is Demon Dogs. The band was talented and their songs were captivating but were plagued by band member problems. Rumour has it that they hired a new lead singer but there was a mystery surrounding him. It seemed as if he deliberately dodges the spotlight. On her first stakeout to photograph the new guy, she met Lucien who she mistook as a setup crew.

Music was Lucien’s dream. He wanted to share his music with the world and what better vehicle than the band? Lucien was gifted. He had a presence that enthrals his audience and the voice of an angel. His music was his mother’s legacy. His mother passed away, leaving him and his sister in the care of his grandmother. Lucien keeps a secret. He is the guardian to Robert Shoalman, an immortal cursed to paint emotions on canvasses. He is being hounded by a demon and Lucien has sworn to protect him.

Mandy’s and Lucien’s worlds collide. She agreed to do an exclusive with the band. She used to date the drummer, Jay but decided his essence was too dark. Besides, she had a secret of her own, a secret she swore to protect. Mandy and Lucien were drawn to each other. There was undeniable attraction beyond the physical. It seemed that fate pulled them together. Will they end up together and survive the complexities of both their worlds?

This book is a well-written paranormal romance. It is the first of the series but can be read as a standalone. No cliffhanger. The author was a master in peeling the layers off both characters chapter by chapter, revealing who they really are, who they were meant to be. Mandy and Lucien danced around each other in so many chapters keeping this reader on her toes. Would they finally will have their happily ever after till the last chapters? The last few, however, were not hurriedly written but were a great build up to the conclusion. They also made the next book in the series sound interesting to pick up. Not all of the mystery surrounding the Shoalman collection were revealed. The author was adept at describing the intense emotions of the characters and wrote the book with the POVs of Mandy and Lucien. It was a bit hard to believe that Lucien was only 18 because of his physical attributes, responsibilities, and capabilities belong to someone a lot older than his eighteen years. There is still so much mystery to be uncovered in this book despite its length but I am sure more will be revealed in the next one. I rate this book three stars.

Images Eternal is an entertaining read especially for suited for readers who enjoy romance driven novels. Die hard paranormal lovers, however, may feel a little short-changed.

There is an instant and intense attraction between the two main characters, Mandy & Lucien, these two getting together is the main storyline. It felt a little one tracked to me. There are hints of subplots but nothing substantial, I felt myself craving environment.

Lucien is genuine, devoted, and passionate; and he has a solid set of scruples. I truly believed as much as he wanted his music career and the girl he doesn't regret the vows he made and wouldn't betray them for anything. I'm usually not a fan of the tried and true good guy (boring) but I loved Lucien!

Mandy, on the other hand, is not my favorite character. I'm not into slut shaming but the girl comes off too promiscuous for my taste. She has a no strings policy yet persistently pursues Lucien even when he ignores her texts and calls for days. Where's a good friend to take your phone when you need one? She has daddy issues but doesn't seem to mind sitting pretty on his dime, all while giving the air of being independent, headstrong, and accomplished. She's basically a wanna be badass but I forgive her because I like all the other characters so much.

Towards the end Mandy has some seriously heavy information laid on her about her world and her life, and it's a nonevent. One day she's a possibly suspicious but mostly clueless girl, the next a game player in a dangerous paranormal world... literally no reaction. I'm willing to overlook personality differences but her apathy on several matters hurt the read.

The paranormal aspects of Images Eternal are vague. Basically there are guardians, who may or may not be guardian angels; they certainly don't have an angelic vibe but there are a few angel references. And obviously there are the people they guard; one is an undefined immortal and I suspect the other will be supernaturally gifted as well. I'm pretty excited to hear their stories but I am hoping for more structure and substance in book two.

There is huge emphasis on the arts; music, paintings, photography. This seems to be the most notable preternatural element; the characters express, inspire, or assess others through their chosen artistic medium. Nobody saving the world in this book but I like the originality.

Images Eternal was slow to draw me in but once I got into it I enjoyed the read in spite of my grievances. I look forward to the second installment and appreciate the opportunity to read and review this book.

“And people were finally starting to take notice of the complexity of the images she captures, the layers of emotions that hid amongst the subjects. She was just waiting for someone to hear the songs each one sang."

Armed with the photography skills of a veteran and the wit and charm of a world class writer, Mandy is the biggest and brightest driving force behind the city’s local music scene. Once her camera flashes, keeping your secrets safe no longer becomes an option. Up next on Mandy’s must capture list is the new mysterious lead singer for Demon Dogs, which proves to be much more difficult than she had ever imagined. With a city full of talented yet mediocre musicians vying for her love, Mandy’s sole interest lies within getting that perfect shot of the new man behind the plan. What doesn’t he want Mandy to find out?

Lucien’s secret could very well mean the difference between the life and death of the one person he’s sworn to protect. With Mandy prodding him to become more exposed, for the band’s sake, Lucien fears this brand new exposure will lead to bigger issues than even he could imagine. As Robert becomes more vulnerable, Mandy becomes more valuable and Lucien must choose which path he ultimately wants to take.

Decker has managed to create, in my personal opinion, the perfect ratio of elements, the perfect gradual expansion of a story and combines the unique perspective of a camera lens and tattoos into this whirlwind, snarky, sexy paranormal adventure that will leave you connecting dots long after you turn the last page.

The character development was phenomenal. She gave you enough to hook you in, enough to experience the dilemmas of what both main characters were exposed to but opened the door for further books to come in and expand upon the world that binds these two together. Secondary character development was definitely on point as well and I look forward to becoming immersed within this world in the not too distant future.

I loved this book; I have no negative criticisms about it. I really enjoyed that Lucien was a younger character who encountered this older, tougher, made her own way girl, but finds a way to react appropriately to most situations and ends up being kind of “that awesome guy” who you want to root for in the end.

If you are looking for a different take on the paranormal realm (at least in my limited exposure) and enjoy a puzzle that slowly comes together without you realizing it, this book is definitely one you need to get to. Bravo Toni!

It seemed this story was not what it seemed. There were twists and turns to be read throughout the story. Some of the mystery to the story was solved at the end of the story but there were still questions to be answered. Mandy and Lucien made for interesting characters. I kept asking myself “what were they all about?” since I had not read anything on this story prior to reading it. I liked Mandy because she was a strong resourceful young woman determined to get what she wants. Sometimes, to get what you want you must stand in the pouring rain to get the job done!!! It would not be first time or the last for Mandy. It seems Mandy is well known in the community along with being an “important somebody” in the music industry. Mandy does a really good job in exposing up and coming bands that are trying to make it big in the industry. She also has an eye for seeing someone for who they truly are under the mask everyone else sees. Hmmmmmm…..This all sound really interesting and a real page turner. Lucien is her newest victim to say the least. Supposedly, a guy named Lucien was going to make a local band famous and save them from their current disaster. I liked Lucien because he so mysterious and described as a gorgeous rock star who was also a strong character. Mandy was going to make it her business to figure out the infamous Lucien. Her first mission regarding Lucien was to get a picture of him but he was not having it. What is the real reason he won’t let her take a picture which would be could awesome publicity for the band.

As the story goes along, Mandy and Lucien do their best to figure each other out. Each of these characters tried to figure the other out while protecting themselves from emotional hardship. I found this story to be unique with fun and exciting characters. I gave this story 4 stars.

Mandy Hayworth loves finding new local bands. Her music blog can make or break a band. Her blog also gives her an outlet for her other passion in life: photography. Her camera never lies to her since she can see her subjects souls in her pictures. Lucien Solvak has just joined a new band and knows with the right exposure they could get a record deal. Lucien’s boss and uncle sees the band as a distraction that could lead to unfortunate consequences if Lucien’s duties as a Guardian are revealed. Lucien is determined to prove his uncle wrong but when Mandy Hayworth insists on photographing him, his loyalty to his uncle is put to the test. Can Lucien protect his uncle, preform his music, and get Mandy to commit to a relationship with him?
With the glut of paranormal romances on the market, authors have to do something unique to stand out. Decker has written a beautiful story with vivid descriptions and uses Romani culture to make it stand out. While a lot is left unexplained in the book, the main focus is on the Guardians, who protect their charges from evil. The two charges in this book are both painters, who are driven almost to extremes in painting their powerful pieces of art.
One of the main things I liked about this book was the vivid descriptions the author uses. The images stay with you long after you are done reading. As a reader there is nothing better than actually feeling like you are there in person. The first meeting between Mandy and Lucien was absolutely breath taking in its imagery. I can still see it playing out in my head as I write this review!
The attraction between Lucien and Mandy is off the charts. There is a lot of pushing and pulling between the two as outside factors affect them. Lucien doesn’t think he can bring Mandy into his world and Mandy doesn’t do commitment. It is well worth the wait because when these two finally got together it was electric.
Images Eternal is the first book in the Shoalman Chronicles. Featuring gorgeous, vivid imagery and a unique story line, this book certainly stands out in the Paranormal Romance genre. Anyone who loves paranormal romance should give this book a read.

Images Internal by Toni Decker
4/5 Stars

Amanda Hayworth daughter of the wealthiest man in Baltimore, can have anything her heart desires. She is determined not to use her father's connections to get where she wants to be in her life. As a extraordinary photographer, most people can't fathom why her camera is the only love she's willing to invest time in. What most people don't know is that through the lens of her trusted camera she can what people truly are about. Not just the picture but beyond the images, their true natures shine through for her to see. She uses her talents to write a blog about local music acts in the area that are wanting exposure. It's in this capacity that Amanda is introduced to the secret new lead singer who's joined the band Demon Dogs.

I give Images Eternal, book 1 of the Shoalman Chronicles by Toni Decker four stars.

Mandy Hayworth is a photographer and music blogger that can make or break local bands. She always seems to know just what pictures to take and she sees people for who they really are through her lens, with the help of her supernatural abilities.

A drummer from one local band is a friend of hers and now has a new singer after parting ways with their previous, troubled lead vocalist. She know there’s potential there and can’t wait to get a shot of this new singer who she is told has a to-die-for voice. If she can just get a picture of him, she’ll know if he’s for real or just an ego. Problem is, he refuses to have his picture taken. He finally relents to an exclusive interview and some pictures if she agrees to a date. She quickly agrees. Could this singer break her vow never to again get involved in a musician again?

Lucien Solvak has long dreamed of being a star musician. He has always loved singing and playing guitar. It is his escape. When he is singing, that is the only thing in the world to him. In order to get publicity for his new band, he has to give interviews to the sexy and sassy blogger, Mandy. Spending time with her is not a problem, but not revealing the many secrets he has makes thing more difficult to even try to take things further. Not to mention that there are things he has sworn to take care of, of the supernatural type. That is his priority. Will he have to give up his dream and this amazing girl?

This was a good supernatural romance. It is mainly a romance with not too much extra going on. But there are hints that there could be more going on in future books. The characters are not extremely complex, but they are still enjoyable. I thought this was a light, fun, yet steamy read.

*SPOILER FREE REVIEW*

I'm not going to rate this book because it was (sadly) a DNF for me. Wouldn't be fair since I only read a portion of it.

I really wanted to love Images Eternal. I went in with the best intentions. Mostly because I was gifted my copy by one of the two authors of this book. And she's really really nice, you guys! So when she asked me, I thought, "Eh, what the heck, for a buddy, I'll do it."

Sigh. I suck. I couldn't even finish it. I have been worrying over this for days, not wanting to write this review coz, as I said, I really like the author. She's a sweetheart. But, I have to be honest and I hope she'll understand that. :)

If you know me, you know that I'm not big on YA or NA. I give NA books a try every now and then, most end up in my "meh" pile. And I can probably count in one hand the number of YA books I've genuinely enjoyed. I think my brain can't relate to teens, even mature ones. Same for college age characters. Half the time, I want to smack them on the head and give them the scary mom look.

Okay, back to Images Eternal. I had a hard time with it from the very beginning. The heroine's voice felt very passive to me, and I like my heroines with a strong confident voice. The hero didn't do much for me. *sad face*

It had some very unique and interesting details, that's for sure.

Alas, after a few attempts at this book, I decided it's probably not the book for me. I just can't get into young people problems. *shakes fist in the air* Damn you crazy kids, get off my lawn!

See?

Anyway...

YA/NA readers: Please don't take my word for it. Read Images Eternal and make up your own mind. You'll probably really like it. Happy Readings!

A fast paced fantasy story

Image Eternal by Toni Decker is the first book in the Shoalman Chronicles and is about Amanda Hayworth and Lucien Solvak. Amanda AKA Mandy is a very talented photographer who has a passion for photographing musicians and finding local talent. With an endorsement by Mandy Hayworth on her successful blog a small band has the potential to explode on the music scene. Mandy also has a very special talent...or gift, she can capture a person's true self in pictures, she can see if they are lying or honest, if someone is evil or angelic, she can see love or hate. Mandy is very special. Lucien is an extremely talented singer who recently became the front man to a local band. As soon as Mandy sees Lucien she is instantly intrigued by his gorgeous looks, his amazing voice and his refusal to allow Mandy to take his picture. Lucien is very mysterious but he has to be, he is the Guardian of an Immortal who is being hunted by a demon and if Lucien lets his guard down people could die. Besides there is no way Mandy would ever understand his secret life full of Immortals, demons and Guardians....or would she.......
This was a good start to an intriguing series. The author did a very good job laying down the foot work for the series in this book and I'm interested to see where the next book will take the readers and whom the main characters will be. This story is written in third person through both Lucien's and Mandy's point of view. The book is well written and very fast paced. Due to adult content and language I recommend readers be over the age 18. I this book 4 stars and recommend it to anyone looking for a fantasy read that is a bit different than most books out there in this genre.

Images Eternal (The Shoalman Chronicles Book 1)
By: Toni Decker
5 out of 5 stars

The story Images Eternal (The Shoalman Chronicles Book 1) by Toni Decker is science fiction/fantasy romance book. It tells the tale of Mandy, who is a music blogger and photographer trying to get the scoop on the band Demon Dogs new singer. She has the reputation for either putting a band on top of letting them free fall off the charts. Lucien is the newest band member and is committed to keeping all of his secrets hidden. Then he meets Mandy. Once they touch there is not stopping them from wanting more of each other. With Lucien guarding himself and his life is their love doomed to failure or will these two hold on to each other as tight as they can?

This is a really wonderful story. I love the characters especially Mandy. She is a tough, independent woman who knows what she wants and goes after it. She also takes others into account when making a decision and has no problem admitting she may have been wrong. What can I say about Lucien? Based on his description and the way he sings it is no wonder Mandy calls him a rock God! You also can depend on both Mandy’s best friend and roommate to give her opinion and the band members to give their two cents to Lucien. I don’t want to talk too much regarding the story so as not to give anything away. I just have to say that you will not be disappointed reading this book. Settle in for the afternoon as you will not want to put this book down!

This book was refreshing as it treated the language and the love scenes with young readers in mind. I would still suggest that it be read by anyone who is 16 years or older. It would really depend on the maturity of the teen.

Images Eternal has got to be the most amazing book I have read.
This story grabs your interest from the very first page and keeps you flipping those pages like there is no tomorrow. I started reading at 9 p.m and ended up finishing in one sitting, yes the story was that exceptional! It's's always a surprise when an author has such an amazing way with their words, I love when a book manages to pull you into a new and exciting world and keeps you thinking about it long after you have closed it's covers!
Toni Decker has written her way into my heart with this book, she has created such an intriguing cast of character's in this series.
Amanda, Lucian, Robert, Mama T and Kyrissa 's stories flowed from the pages with so much heart and soul, you really get pulled in by their raw emotions and the love they all have for each other.
This series is all about love and understanding, the love of family and the sacrifices they make for them.
I absolutely loved every minute I spent immersed in these pages, words alone cannot do it justice, I'm looking forward to reading part 2 of the series and seeing what's in store for Kyrissa and Robert.
I want to thank the author for providing this amazing book for free for an honest review, and can't wait to read more from this talented author in the future!!

Images Eternal by Toni Decker is Book 1 in The Shoalman Chronicle and I can’t wait for book 2. This book is a stand alone and will not leave you with a cliffhanger waiting for book 2.

In this book Lucien is a Guardian with a love for music. Not only does he love music but it is a critical part of who he is, but his duties as Guardian, and the secrets that come with it have always come first. This has never been a problem for him until he met Mandy. Mandy is a photographer who scouts the local music talent and has the ability to make or break the local bands, but she has secrets of her own. She has a history with the band that Lucien has just joined and they must work together to create the new image for Demon Dogs. This becomes a battle of wills as they both work hard to keep their secrets while trying to fight the serious connection that they both share. In the end their secrets are not theirs to share, and there are many obstacles to overcome.

This book starts out with a ton of questions about the secrets that they hold close to their chests and it does take a while to understand what is happening but stick with it, because the end is worth it. I would have liked to see more information come sooner in the book because I felt that it kept me from making a deeper connection with the characters but it all worked out in the end and I am looking forward to the next installment of The Shoalman Chronicles.

I I received this book in exchange for an honest review (LoP or Lovers of Paranormal)

I almost didn't finish the book because the first chapters didn't pull me in. The story picks up from the middle and things started to get interesting. But wasn't enough to pull me in. (Sigh.) I really wanted to like this book because I LOVED the synopsis. But like I said, the story didn't pull me in. (I know, I keep saying that.) Which is sad. Because the story had so much potential. The characters had so much to offer. I think the authors could have revealed more about the Romani culture, considering this is the first book in the series. At least give the reader an idea what kind of world they're getting into.

What does it mean to be a guardian? What exactly are the demons they were trying to hide from? Later in the story, Mandy is also revealed as a guardian. I think that was a milestone in the story, but it was presented like it was commonplace and not to be bothered from. Also, Mandy had issues with his father. And they made amends just like that, in an instant.

What made the story interesting was the sexual attraction between Lucien and Mandy. But as a reader, I need more than sexual tension between characters. I needed more depth in the story.

I would still recommend others to read this book. Maybe you're going to like more than I did.

Mandy can tell everything she needs to know about a person with just one picture. Well everyone except Lucien, and that bugs the hell out of her. A big time music blogger and photographer she has launched more than a few local bands into stardom with her raw photos and keen ear for music. Demon Dogs is that next band destined for stardom, but there is a new lead singer no one knows who it is or what he even looks like. Mandy makes it her mission to find out.

Lucien is a guardian to the immortals and Robert is the one he is chosen to protect. A painter whos work is highly sought after and is shrouded in mystery. No one knows the face behind the Shoalman Collection, and Lucien is bound and determined to keep it that way. Lucien also happens to be the new lead singer of Demon Dogs and will soon be faced with a choice continue to persue music or remain a guardian.

Mandy and Lucien cannot deny the instant attraction they have to each other, nor can they deny the amazing talent they both possess. A single verbal contract of exclusivity starts it all, with both speaking loaded phrases it burns an uncontrollable fire in them both.

For this being a sci fi romance this book is written very well, the story line is very realistic and easy to be drawn into. And the whole time you are just shouting kiss already!

Mandy is a flirt, a flirt who wants no strings attached. She also says no to rock stars after an experience she vows she won't repeat. She is a hotshot music blogger whose positive opinion can help shoot you straight to the top. Lucien is rock star amongst other things. After joining the band Demon Dogs he begins to work hard to ensure their success. The one person who can get them there is Mandy and when the two meet things start to heat up. Secrets surround both of their lives, choices have been made that neither can control. Can they look past the image to see the truth behind all the lies?

WOW! I went into this book blind, I hadn't read anything about it until I read the first word. Let me just tell you this one blew me away. It was rock star with a twist and I loved how it kept me going. The characters were fantastic and swept me off my feet instantly. Both having been through so much I could really feel their emotions throughout the story. I do not have enough good things to say. If you like rock stars with some supernatural twists mixed in, I strongly urge you to pick up a copy of this one today. I will definitely be adding the second book in the series to my personal TBR.
