I especially liked the progressive way the story of converting was told. Although I read it for confirmation of my own trip into my Jewish life, I found some important information that needed reinforcing.
This book has helped me understand and become more familiar with converting. It has guided me to look deeper into the reasons i should consider conversion. Great and easy read.
Aside from a couple misnomers, such as Yom Kippur always being observed on the Sabbath (not true), and it’s description of circumcision, it’s a good introductory guide for converts. I just wish it had included Conservative Judaism as well.
As a convert to Judaism, I find it hard to conceptualize what this rich culture, religion, and tradition is. There is never a point where one has learned all there is to know regardless of being born into Judaism or through conversion. This book offered an excellent overview with minimal errors though there were some that were spotted throughout. I find this to be a helpful introductory guide about what to expect and information that is relevant to determine if a conversion is for you.
This isn't the sort of book that I am usually drawn to; I prefer novels. Still, I am naturally curious about Judaism and when I was asked to read/review this book, I accepted without hesitation. I find religions to be fascinating and the author did a nice job laying the information out for the reader. It was well organized and written in a reader-friendly voice.
This is a must-read for anyone interested in converting to Judaism. I re-read the explanation of all the Jewish holidays, as this is very important to know for a convert.
I generally stick to reading YA novels, however, I have been interested in Judaism for a number of years. This is something that helped me to understand some of the major aspects of Judaism, and has encouraged me to read up further. I would definitely recommend this books to everyone!
This book help to know and examine your heart and true feelings in converting. What you will need to know, what you should be willing to learn and the road is a long process. It neither encourages but doesn't discourage you. It's up to you.
I have a clearer understanding of converting to Judaism after reading this book. For me, I am more prepared for conversion. The style of writing used was helpful, mostly because the different points were laid out consecutively. Very good reference material.
