I received a copy of the ARC from Goodreads Lovers of Paranormal group in exchange for an honest review.

Cheated by Danielle Thorne is an original young adult paranormal novel.

Athena is hoping to complete her high school experience without any paranormal drama. She has been keeping her paranormal experiences a secret and dealing with her fears on her own. This is a huge burden for this eighteen year old as she also continues to deal with bereavement issues—the loss of her mother and grandfather.

This fast paced plot keeps the reader wondering what lies ahead. As the story unfolds the reader will understand the meaning of the title and its importance to the plot. Her older sister and a few good friends support Athena--their loyalty is critical to the story. Their voices are age appropriate and convincing. Athena and her friends are not dysfunctional but solid and responsible young adults. The paranormal element in this story is unique. An enjoyable read.

I received a copy of the ARC from Goodreads Lovers of Paranormal in exchange for an honest review.

The story portrays believable high-school age characters in a realistic setting. The main character, Athena Gray, has an interesting ability that puts her in an impossible (but still relatable) situation. She can ignore her ability or embrace it, keep her circumstances to herself or share it with others. The concept of her gift is original and well illustrated.

As a sequel, the novel does a thorough job of playing catch-up from the prior story, doling items of information here and there.

Although a bit of slow starter with much time spent on character development, the plot picks up speed in the second half and engages the reader, involving all the major players.

Overall, a quick, fun read that makes one wonder what will happen next.

I was given this book in exchange for an honest review (Lop or Lovers of Paranormal)

i really liked reading this book though i felt the need to read the first book of series in between at certain places, but still author made sure that reader doesn't left lost even if the first book is not read.

Athena can see the ghosts and also helps them cross over but she is hoping to complete high school without paranormal activities but it never goes as it planned.
i really liked how supportive her friends and sister are, and it s coz of them she is coping up pretty well with all these paranormal things happening in her life. I would have loved to read more of Dan & Athena.

All in all i enjoyed reading this book and will definitely try to catch hold of its first part to know more of Athena and her ghost seeing powers.

Athena Gray has the ability to help ghosts cross over, but the ghosts are getting in the way of her senior year of high school. I think Athena is a good character and she cares very much for the people in her life. I feel that the first half of the book was a little slow for me. I liked the idea of the story but the first half of the book needed some work. It didn’t keep me engaged as much as I thought it would. I was looking for more action in it but I did get to know the characters a little better in it. I feel like about Chapter 5 the books took a hold of me and didn’t let me go the rest of the book. I did like where the author took the characters towards the end when Athena started to work more with her ability. I did like the ending and it was a good book once the story caught hold of me. I think anyone that likes to read about necromancy will like this book.
