I was given a free copy of this book as part of the blog tour for The Seraphina Series

Seraphina's Initiation was an excellent follow up to the first book in the series, Seraphina's Awakening! I thoroughly enjoyed this novel, much more than the previous one. Looking back, I think the first one was a major set up novel, and this is where all the action begins!! Seraphina's Initiation picks up right where the last book left off, and it just takes off from there. There is non-stop action and excitement from beginning to end!

One of the problems I had with the first book was that it felt very slow and predictable at times. This was not an issue at all in this sequel! There were many exciting plot twists that I never saw coming and made the story more interesting. This book is all about Seraphina learning to use her powers, and it made for some truly fantastic scenes! We also learn more about how Seraphina become who she is now.

Seraphina continues to grow throughout the novel, and truly was a stand out character. I loved her even more than I did in the first one, and she was a very realistic character. She still questioned everything and wanted answers to the questions that were plaguing her. Nate is by her side every step of the way, helping and guiding her through her struggles of accepting who she is now. Nate was AMAZING in this story. Gone is the awkward development that was his character. In its place is a strong male lead that truly loves and cares for Sera. Plus, it doesn't hurt that he's absolutely yummy. Jack still has a great storyline, but I still dislike him. I always felt that there was something fishy about his character (I won't tell you whether or not I was right though), and I hated how naive Sera was toward him. I wanted to shake some sense into her.

The plot is definitely much faster than the first story, and it worked very well. I didn't have any problem following the story, and the faster plot also worked much better with the present-tense this book is written in. I'm still not a huge fan of present-tense stories, but Ms. Hutchinson does a great job at making sure you still connect to the characters.

If you liked the first book in this series, you definitely need to check this sequel out!! There are a lot of improvements from the first book that made this series even better than it already was. Ms. Hutchinson is a fantastic writer and I like the direction the story is going in. Definitely add this to your TBR now!

Happy reading :)

Seraphina’s Initiation
By Sheena Hutchinson

Seraphina’s Initiation is book two in the Seraphina series and another awesome book by Sheena.
Jack:
Is once again feeling the supernatural world surrounding him. Does he want the supernatural world interfering in his life the answer is no. As much as he wants it to stop there does not seem an end to it. When Jack experiences the supernatural world, he becomes engulfed in the light that it omits, it also causes him to double over while trying to regain his breathe. No matter how many times he asks the spirits to go away and leave him alone they refuse.
Nathaniel:
Now classified as a Fallen Angel because he previously helped Sera in a way he should not have. He is now anxious as he waits for Sera to make her decision about moving in with him, as each day passes the more his anxiety grows. He
also comes to think it has been such a long time since he was Sera’s Guardian Angel and thinks about all that has happened and the changes that have happened in both their lives. While Nathaniel is a newly fallen angel Sera is a recently chosen angel. Once Sera has made her decision to move in with Nathaniel he will train her in the hope it keeps her safer.
Seraphina:
Sera made her decision to move in with Nate after Lucifer appeared in her mirror threatening all those she loves. As she is packing the last box in her car she has a tearful farewell with her parents. Nate senses her arrival and meets her out front with a nice hot drink which she appreciates. When Nate shows her, her bedroom she is in awe of how beautiful the room looks, she is also more amazed with the size of her walk-in robe and the new clothes it contains.
Sera asks Nate when she will see her parents again and he tells her he is not sure. Nate is also not sure what Sera’s calling will be.
And so, the training begins…..

Seraphina’s Initiation is the second book in the Seraphina series by Sheena Hutchinson. The author has really supercharged this instalment. It is full of action and excitement, in fact I felt that the first book laid all the groundwork to prepare us for this book. The story is a fast paced and enthralling second addition to the series- Ms. Hutchinson seems to be really hitting her stride now and I am intrigued by the storyline and where the story seems to be headed.
I recommend reading the first book before starting this one, as it isn’t a standalone and you will be able to follow and enjoy the story better having read book one first.
This story picks up where the first one left off, Seraphina has been thrust into a world of Angels and Demons, where good vs evil- she is discovering herself and all that she is capable of. We learn with her, how she has come to this point and why she is the way she is- learning all about her powers in the process.
I loved how much Sera and Nate have grown as characters, since the first book, and through this story. I loved Nate so much more in this story- he really seemed to come into his own.
I am looking forward to the next story, where Sera is set to face the ultimate test.

Thank you, Ms. Hutchinson!

Seraphina's Initiation is book two in the Seraphina series. After reading book 1 you are captivated and will want to keep reading more and more about these characters. In this second book we read more about Seraphina and Amanda and also Nate. seraphina starts having these dreams but not just dreams more like nightmares as she is trying to work all this out. Lucifer pays her a visit to make things even more complicated. As She begins to learn more and more about herself while her man-gel starts training her. This wonderful read will keep you engrossed as they go through this crazy journey together. Once this book is done you are going to want to keep reading more i really hope this series never ends the way Sheena write this series you wont tire of it.

I've been waiting for this book and it certainly didn't disappoint. This book is kind of a preclude to the big show with Lucifer in the next book. We get to see Sera almost get comfortable in her skin with the help of Nate and to a certain degree, Jack. I love how the author has written this series. I'm definitely ready for the showdown in the next book. Sera will be a sight to behold, that's for sure.

Come by my blog for the book tour, with a great giveaway. Just click the tour banner below.

I really liked this book, it was a perfect sequel to the first book. It moved a bit fast but it was intense and really interesting. I was hooked right away, which is not surprising since I loved the first book.

I loved watching Seraphina grow and learn about her powers. We also learn more about her and how she became the way she is now.

There are some awesome plot twists that I found interesting.
I still love Nate, and even more now after reading this 2nd book. I dislike Jack still, always thought there was something fishy about him, and still think Seraphina is so naive when it comes to him,

I do not want to put spoilers, so keeping this short.

I think anyone who likes paranormal romance books will love this series too.
I give this book 5 out of 5 stars.

I received this book from the author for my honest review.

I received book 2 in exchange for a honest review.

After reading book 1, you are compelled to keep reading into book 2. The Initiation picks up exactly where the Awakening leaves off. I love stories about good vs evil, angels vs the devil. This story definitely lived up to my expectations from book 1. The characters were very likable and it was easy to picture what was going on, even when strange things were happening. As we found in book 1, Nate became a fallen angel when he saved Sera from dying. This gave her unspeakable power. The love that Nate has for Sera seems so pure. He is so yummy and the things he does for her make you swoon, wishing for a love like that. . The story is very fast paced and it's easy to get through the story to find out what is going on. The reader's point of view matches Sera's the whole time. As she finds out what she can do and who she is, it opens up more questions. The story is very well written, and even what could be a complicated scene to describe is written perfectly and it keeps the reader engaged through to the end, wishing for more. I am definitely looking forward to reading more in this series. I would recommend this to any paranormal fan, but you need to read book 1 to understand what is happening in book 2.

I was sent both books and I have to say I loved this series. First off Nate is dreamy. There isn’t another word that fits him so well. No one man should be that perfect though, and he has his faults. He isn’t used to humans and their emotions. And when he saves Seraphina he becomes an fallen angel. He is pretty bad ass though. Now Seraphina is an angel already, somehow, we still haven’t figured that one out, but Nate gave her his blood to keep her from dying and that is when her angel side woke up. Her powers are unlike anything Nate has seen and together they fight against evil.

The characters are very likeable. Even the evil ones are easy to like and hate at the same time. The mystery surrounding Seraphina makes the book all that better. Of course her attitude and the way she reacts to things, always temper first think later, gets old. I just want her to sit back and realize what the hell her actions cause later on. That they hurt people, and endanger not just herself but others. I guess all characters are like that in some way though.

All in all though this series is a great read! I can’t wait to see how Seraphina came about, and where her origins really lie!

This such a solid, well written series! I love the genre and am always on the lookout for something new and so I found book one Seraphina: the awakening and devoured it in one sitting. Much like I did this one tonight, it's fast paced with shorter chapter length which I always love. I even enjoyed the point of view shifts with some chapters, typically I'm not a fan of this literary device but with this author she totally makes it work within the story so it feels organic and exactly how the story should flow. The action is bigger in this book in my opinion, and I hope there are many more books in the series because I can't wait to see what happens next for these characters. The dialogue is snappy and it is smooth between the characters unlike some other YA books I have read in the past it is definitely one of the strengths of the book, which there are many and I may be a little more specific after this one is actually released because I flat out refuse to post spoilers or specifics about the story line in my reviews but trust me on this one you are gonna love it!

Wow.... just wow!
I started reading this one and I had to stop myself from reading and message Sheena to tell her how much I was laughing about some of the character interactions.
We pick up right where book one leaves off and we have Nate and Sera really working hard to fight the evil that is taking over the town. Sera learns about herself, about her powers and she learns more about Jack.
Jack, Jack, Jack.... oh my. You HAVE TO READ THIS BOOK!!
I refuse to spoil anything for you, but there are some AMAZING reveals in book two, and in true Sheena Hutchinson fashion- we are left with a cliffhanger. Don't worry, I messaged her about that too!
It's few stories that get you so involved hat you literally feel for the characters, I was laughing, and getting nervous... and of course I gave up a nights sleep to read it.
You wont regret reading this series!
It's enough to make you believe in Angels.

I received an arc copy of this book from the author in exchange for my honest opinion. I read the Awakening and it was a much needed breath of fresh air from the previous books I was reading. Yes don't get me wrong I love paranormal romance, but this take it to another level and shows you a true love between two, friends, and life. The Initiation picks up exactly where the Awakening leaves off. I love stories about good vs evil, angels vs the devil. This the characters and this story definitely lived up to my expectations. I'm not going to post any spoilers, but I will say the end will leave you wanting more! I highly recommend this book!

**I was given the opportunity to read "Seraphina: The Awakening" and "Seraphina: Initiation" as part of the series' blog tour.**

SERAPHINA: INITIATION picks up after the first book, with Seraphina a newly changed woman and moved in with her fallen angel boyfriend. She's still trying to adjust to life as a demon slayer, a woman with new looks and new powers, and her guardian angel Nathaniel must begin training her. It's good vs. evil, there are secrets to be revealed, battles to be fought, and more questions will be asked as the devil comes to town in his quest for Sera.

If you enjoy Guardian Angel romances, good vs evil paranormal battles, you just might want to check it out!

Here´s my quick review::

The book had its own story. I felt like it was a unique story that hasn´t been already written. I´ll admit that I felt like it was going to fast and couldn´t absorb what was going on, but it held my interest. The characters were always doing something new and surprising. I already can feel that this is going to be a great series and I really recommend it to ... everyone.

I am truly enjoying the character Seraphina, she is strong while simultaneously learning more about herself. I love strong women lead in books and this book I was no disappointment.

It picks up exactly where the Awakening leaves off. Readers will learn more about her, Nate, and Jack. I was not bored with the bad guys either. Another fast paced must read in one sitting, losing sleep book. I cannot wait for book three.

Seraphina’s Initiation Book 2 in The Seraphina Series by Sheena Hutchinson should be read after you read Seraphina’s Awakening. It will make so much more sense to read it in order.
For a relatively short book (only 188 pages) this book packs so much punch. It’s the continuing story of Seraphina Cross and the metamorphosis into her destiny. This is the story of good vs evil, angels vs demons, reality vs perception, awakening vs denial and finally it is the story of a girl learning who she really is. It’s a story that is filled with light and dark, humor and fear and most of all it’s the story of self-love and the true love for others.
Tangled in the story of Seraphina’s Initiation is the mysterious disappearance of people. It’s a mystery inside a fantasy. I found it a very intriguing way to read about Seraphina’s new world. As she gains strength in her powers, confidence in herself blossoms and her beauty shines. “I’m not a wimpy human anymore, you know. I can carry a few bags.” You go Seraphina!! Find your strength!! Find your voice!!
Sheena Hutchinson has managed to write a series that has held my attention from the first mention of Seraphina in Discovering April through Initiation. Just as time is slightly altered from Seraphina’s dreams “No one ever realizes the length of a second until you are in pain”, so my time was altered as I was reading. What was going to be a quick 10 minute break from adulting, turned into reading the whole book in one sitting.
In case you a reader who doesn’t read the first few pages of books, I would like to share Ms. Hutchinson’s dedication with you:
“This book is dedicated to those struggling, encountering obstacles at every turn and beginning to lose faith. It’s the right road when you encounter opposition at every turn. Lucifer doesn’t want you to succeed. This is your initiation – prove him wrong” ROCK ON!!!

Seraphina’s Initiation by Sheena Hutchison
4 Stars

This is book two in the Seraphina series. It picks up where Seraphina’s Awakening ends. This one is a much faster paced novel. The good thing is the characters continue to grow. Seraphina learns more about her powers and what she can do. She still questions everything and sometimes doesn’t trust herself. Nate plays a bigger role and turns into the all time protector, showing Seraphina how to protect herself and fight if necessary. Jack makes an appearance again in this novel. Seraphina is still naïve when it comes to Jack which really frustrated me. When people desire something enough, it sometimes leads them to make bad decisions. Jack made some decisions in the name of love. Depending on who’s side you’re on, will decide if it was wrong or right.

Lucifer has a larger role in this book. He has figured out some of Seraphina’s weaknesses and pounces on the chance to exploit them. He gets to her and almost breaks her. Sheena Hutchison does an amazing job in creating adversity in her novel. Seraphina is a strong character but not infallible. She is smart but still naïve. The chemistry between Nate and Seraphina is palpable but they are not jumping each other, they are trying to take their time. The build up in tension is crazy.

The only thing I didn’t like was that Seraphina was perfect right away. Nate was supposed to be teaching her self defence and how to use weapons which she had never done. She aced everything almost right away. I know she’s this all powerful angel but it would have been more realistic if she struggled a bit. Besides that, I loved the book. It was fast paced and well written. I can’t wait to read part three.

Nate knows the moment Seraphina has made her decision, a decision she has made to keep those she loves safe.

Seraphina has made her decision and has packed and said her goodbyes but still finds it extremely hard leaving behind all she has known. She realises she has to lie to those she loves and she doesn’t know when she will get to see them again. Now she is moving in with her boyfriend, her fallen angel, Nate. Now it is Nate’s turn to teach, train and mentor Seraphina with all that he knows to help her with her new found powers.

Jack misses seeing Seraphina and constantly contacts her. He can’t deal with not being in Sera’s life and after seeing Seraphna and Nate together finally decides to take drastic measures. Jack does something he has sworn he would never do, something that he may not be able to come back from. Will this bring Jack and Sera closer together or will this finally be the end of their friendship?

As Nate and Sera try to come to terms with what she is exactly, what she has become and what she can do, they have to deal with the strange occurrences, disappearances, dreams and demons. But can Nate keep her safe when he doesn’t have the powers he once had? Will the battle for good or evil prevail? Will Sera do the one thing she wants more than life and that is to keep Nate safe?

This book is the second book in this series the first being Awakening which I really enjoyed. Seraphina’s Initiation certainly does not disappoint. I love the characters and Sheena makes a perfect blend of humor and seriousness and Seraphina and Nate are the perfect blend of strength and vulnerability. This is one story you won’t want to miss.

Seraphina's Initiation
By Sheena Hutchinson
**5 stars**

Seraphina's Initiation by Sheena Hutchinson is book 2 in the Seraphina series. It starts right where Seraphina's Awakening ends. Hutchinson has brought in more perspectives in this book by starting with Jack’s point of view. We also get to see more into Nate’s earth angel work.

Seraphina is faced with major decisions in her new life, she has decided that her old life is gone and she must move forward in her journey to fight Lucifer. After moving in with Nate, he trains her to defend herself and discover her new gifts. He teaches her to control some of her gifts. Will all of her gifts help her in her fight against evil or will Lucifer use them to hurt her?

Nate is an awesome book boyfriend! He is “Oh my goodness” good lookin’ and he was her Guardian Angel. I guess you can kick the man out of Heaven but you can't kick the Heaven out of the man! He is patient and understanding yet hot and bothered!

Jack is worried about Seraphina. He won't give up in trying to keep in touch with her. He even pestered Amanda into asking Seraphina to call him. He is determined that the girl he knew is gone and something major is keeping her from him!

I loved this book as much Seraphina's Awakening! Sheena Hutchinson did a great job continuing the Seraphina Series. This book is full of twists and turns! I know you will enjoy it as much as I did! 5 Stars for keeping me on my toes! I will keep following Sheena Hutchinson can't wait to see what comes next!!

Book Review: Seraphina's Initiation
Author: Sheena Hutchinson
FIVE STARS
This is a Paranormal genre book. Angels and Demons. I have read other books by Sheena Hutchinson and I was suprised and pleased to discover that Jack and Sera came from the book Discovering April. Jack is the owner/operator of a coffee shop and Sera is a frequent regular customer. This is book two in the Seraphina Series. The first book being Seraphina's Awakening
This book really pulls you in as you want to find out more and more about the changes that are taking place in Sera. After a weird accident Sera finds herself more in tune with things around her. Everything is more vivid and she is able to recall the smallest details about everything.
Why are people disappearing? What can they do to find them? How do they stop more from disappearing?
Nate was summoned from his duties in heaven by God. He is being reassigned to "Guardian" and is being sent to Earth as a protector to a human. Now even more so as protector. Nate is having Sera move in with him to keep her and her family safe. Even more so to help her develop and learn to use her new abilities.
Can Nate keep her safe from the evil that lurks? Can he keep them from taking her too?
Demons and Angels. Very good book. The further you get into it the more engrossed you become in the story.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book and can't wait to read the next one. This is the 4th book of Sheena Hutchinson's that I have read and I have no complaints at all. I truly look forward to reading her words.

Seraphina's Initiation  (Seraphina Series Book 2) By Sheena Hutchinson

Seraphina's Initiation ( Seraphina Series Book 2 ) By Sheena Hutchinson is the second book in the Seraphina Series,if you haven't read the first book I highly recommend you go back and read it so you'll know more what's going on .I'm completely hooked on this series and couldn't wait to see what Seraphina was up to in this story. Boy was I not disappointed. I couldn't read quick enough nor could I put it down once I started reading. .In this story Seraphina is learning who she is..She's been pushed into a fight and she doesn't understand why.Shes giving it her best trying to adjust to the new powers, and the fact demons are also looking for her. After a threat has been made she decides to separate herself from those she loves. She goes to live with Nate, with this it will give him opportunity to train and give her focus. She makes my heart happy because she's such a strong willed and headstrong  while being independent. I loved how we as readers got to in a sense witness her growth with this book.,with her relationship with Nate and the ability to gain control of newfound powers she has..Just as the first book there's twist and turns but that's what has made me live this series so much it's unpredictable. What happens? I highly recommend you read this book to find out. I absolutely cannot wait to read the next book.

Seraphina’s Initiation by Sheena Hutchinson is the second book in The Seraphina Series. I have not read the first book in this series but I did not find this to be a hinderance. The author did a good job introducing the characters without having to do a complete character profile. There were a few moments that I felt a little lost, as if I was missing some information that would have been explained in the first book.

Seraphina is one of the main characters in this story who is coming into her angel abilities with the help of her guardian angel Nate. The details about how she became an angel or gained her gifts is not clear. I have a feeling this is one of the aspects that is explained in the first book. I loved the way that the author developed the relationship between Sera and Nate, both a personal and a professional one. Jack, an old friend and a non-trustworthy person in Nate’s book, creates some conflict between Sera and Nate, but in the end Jack’s true colors shine through. Sera and Nate work together to train Sera into her abilities so that one day she may be able to defeat the evilness threatening Sera’s home town. There is a fight against good and evil towards the end of the story that left me with my heart in my throat. I could not turn the pages fast enough, only to find out the story ends as a cliffhanger. I am DYING to read the first and third story so that everything can come full circle.

Seraphina's Initiation is the second book in the Seraphina Series and it is just as riveting as the first. This picks up where we left off in the first book and it just doesn't stop until the very last word. For me, this was a great look into the very heart of our humanity. There is a depth of character so plainly displayed here that it felt almost too raw, too real. That's not to say that this book didn't have its light hearted side to it as well. I just thought it was a great combination of it all.

Seraphina is learning who she really is deep down inside and adjusting to her new reality while taking giant leaps of faith that she has never even dreamed of before. Nate is just trying to keep her in one piece. Together they make a formidable team and as we read this story we see them each grow into their role. Though they make a great team , there are times I found myself practically screaming at them to get their heads on straight and see what was in front of them. So I am hoping that I get what I want for them in the third book.

This is a four star read for me because it was so good that I couldn't put it down. This explored the always popular topic of good versus evil in a way that was relatable without being over the top cliché. It was a page turner from the start and I cant wait to see how it ends in the next book.

Seraphina’s Initiation is the second book in the Seraphina Series by Sheena Hutchinson. I recommend reading the first book before you read this one so that you can get a good background on what is happening in this story.

After being thrown into the supernatural world, Seraphina realizes that she has to keep her family safe so she moves in with her former Guardian Angel, Nate. As the faceoff with the rising evil grows closer, Nate puts Sera through rigorous training exercises in order to prepare her for the battle.
In the midst of all of the changes, Sera disconnects with the outside world a bit and her friend Jack (who would love to be more than a friend) begins to worry about her. When it is clear that Sera is choosing her relationship with Nate over the potential of one with him, Jack takes drastic measures to ensure that Sera chooses him instead.

To top it off, Sera’s dreams are becoming more violent and she is waking up with cuts, scrapes, and bruises, and sometimes she is sleepwalking with no memory of what she has been doing. Nate suggests that Sera erect a shield around the house now that her powers are stronger, but will the shield be enough?

This story picks up where the first one left off and is a great continuation of an engaging tale of angels, demons, and Sera-who might be something in between.

Seraphina’s Initiation (The Seraphina Series Book 2) by Sheena Hutchinson was a fast pace, action packed follow up, that had me hooked.

This is the second book in the Seraphina Series, and I will tell you, this book is everything I wanted the first book to be. Unpredictable, constantly moving plot, well developed and still growing characters, Twist, turnes, and pure action, made this book not only better the the first, but it beat it out of the water. I'm glad I stuck with this series.

I have to say I enjoyed Seraphina's character much more in this book then the first. Now she wasn't fully there, with me falling in love, but she showed that she was a mature adult.. at times. There's still some childlikeness about her, that for me, is annoying, and she's still just a little too naive for my liking. But she is growing as a character, and as the story moved on, I grew more and more attached.

Overall this book, is worth your time. It is part of a continuation series, so I highly suggest reading the first book first, even if it isn't as strong as this one. It is a set up book, so there's a lot of info in it, that's needed to understand this complex growing series plot.

So please take my super high recommendation and my stamp of approval, that you will get devoured by this truly unique book/series.

Happy Reading

Seraphina’s Initiation (The Seraphina Series, Volume 2) By Sheena Hutchinson

This story is very interesting. I did not read the first story in the The Seraphina Series. I mention this because I found this book so interesting that I want to read every book in the series. I love the wittiness of Sheena Hutchinson when she is showing the New York roots. I found that this is an amazing love story as well as a battle between good and evil.

Seraphina is going through a lot of changes in her life. She is trying to understand her gifts and the role she will play in the good versus evil. She can be so independent and willing to learn her powers but she is still learning. Nate is there to help train Seraphina and to be her guide through the battle of evil who wants Seraphina for itself.

I can relate to Seraphina because she is confused and wants to know what I going on in her life. She is very headstrong, which does not make it easy when she is learning her gifts and weapons. Being independent is sometimes a hard role to have because you cannot “see” what is around you to help you. You feel like you can do it on your own. That is where Nate comes in to help her. Everyone should have a Nate in their life to help them get through everything. Once you find you Nate, try to be a little less independent and ask for help.

This story is a 5 star story and it makes me want to read the first book in the series and then reread this one. If you have the chance, I would definitely read Seraphina’s Awakening (The Seraphina Series, Volume 1) first and then read this story to continue with Seraphina and the struggles and victories she has in volume 1.

I started reading Seraphina’s Initiation by Sheena Hutchinson and quickly realized that I needed to retract and read Seraphina’s Awakening. And boy was I glad. I would have been completely lost. So my suggestion is that you do not try and read this as a stand-alone.

I have to say that I was very impressed with the story line in both books and was able to follow along perfectly fine. I enjoyed the character development, as I feel like they were well created.

This was the first (actually second book) by this author, and let me just say that I’ll be more than happy to keep reading her books, and to finish this series!

If you know me, then you know that I absolutely love reading anything Paranormal - which is exactly what I get with this book. Sera is a new angel, trying to learn her new “vocation”, and with the help of some pretty amazing people - she learns what she needs to do in order to keep her family and loved ones safe! I like how easy the storyline was to follow. I love how well the book read, and flowed!

This book was a 4 Star Review for me. And like I mentioned earlier - I’m more than excited to see what comes next and where Sera will lead us!

Seraphina’s Initiation is the second book in Sheena Hutchinson’s The Seraphina Series and picks up right where the previous book, Seraphina’s Awakening, left off. At the end of Seraphina’s Awakening, Sera makes the difficult decision to leave behind the life she has known, her friends and family, to move in with Nate both for her own protection and to keep those she loves from harm.

Quite a lot of Seraphina’s Initiation is devoted to Nate training Sera for the inevitable battles between good and evil. Hutchinson is very good at writing action, and this shines through in the many training scenes. They are descriptive and immersive and absolutely wonderful and the nature of the training allows Hutchinson to show her skill in a variety of different kinds of action. My words can’t do justice to how good these scenes are - they’re so detailed but without losing the pace and intensity. Some of the earlier training scenes were quite Buffy-esque but the scale escalated much further throughout the book.

Seraphina’s Initiation isn’t a cover-to-cover training montage, however (although it was so good I would probably have read that). We also learn more about who, and what, Sera is and what the future might hold for her. We even get some more clues as to the origins of the necklace Sera wears, which has protected her so many times. There are more demons and more dreams but sadly fewer appearances from supporting cast members such as Amanda, and Sera’s parents. I hope we see more of them in the coming books, but with the amount of danger towards the end of the books I’d be scared of something bad happening to them if they did make an appearance!

I give this book five out of five stars - one more than I gave the previous book because the action was so well written. It’s definitely worth starting with the first book - neither of them are particularly long and a lot is introduced in the first book that will help the reader understand and appreciate the second book. It looks like there are at least two more books to come in the series, and I’m definitely looking forward to seeing what the future has in store for Sera!

Seraphina's Initiation (Seraphina, #2)
by Sheena Hutchinson
4 Stars
Seraphina’s Initiation is Sheena Hutchinson’s second book in the Seraphina series. Sera and Nate start learning more about Sera’s half- angel powers. They also find that Sera’s dreams are more real then they both realized. Jack is having his own struggles and wants so badly to show Sera he can protect and love her.
“A gasp escaped Nate as he inhales. Apprehensively, she pulls her hands away to see what his concern is all about. She only has to follow his eyes down to her skin. She is covered from head to toe in red scratches. They look like they are from hundreds of hands clawing at her. Some are so deep they are bleeding.”
Sera has moved in with Nate to keep everyone that she loves safe from the evil that is hunting her. Nate is surprised and pleased with Sera’s training. No matter what Nate conjures up to test Sera’s abilities, she goes beyond what he accepts. There is something very strange going on in the Town of Angelica, NY. Nate tracking demand activities, and trying to figure out what is going on with all these missing people. Sera fells she owes Jack an explanation of why she has chosen Nate and why he has not heard any responses to his calls and texts. As she is explaing everything to Jack, Nate comes crashing through the window in a jealous protective rage. Egos and tempers flare, as Sera try’s to talk to them both. Sera and Nate are driving home and Sera finally notices there is something wrong in her hometown. The feeling she is getting is not friendly and welcoming, is a dark and scaring feeling.
Jack wants the sprits to go away that seem to be growing each day, so he can keep his promise to Sera. Jack is worried and misses Sera, when his calls and texts go unanswered for weeks his worries and concern increase. He cannot believe his eyes when she walks in his coffee shop. When Sera leaves with Nate, he finds the courage to follow them and show her how much she means to him. When he catches up to Sera and Nate, his heart is broken and he now has a new mission, and he will end up calling the one demon that he really wants no part of.

I gave this book 4 stars, I found it hard at times to understand what is being said. Sheena Hutchinson does not disappoint with her second book. Just like her first book it grabs u and all the way through u have a million questions, but at the end there answered and you cannot wait to read the next book. Defiantly have to read the first book to understand the second. This series is a good vs evil, paranormal mystery. I love how the author gives a chapter of one of the charterers and then u do not really get their view of the story until the end. I cannot wait to read the next book.
