Those who knew the event was in our future had not given the rest of the world a chance to prepare. For two days, lethal fireballs rained down flattening any building, person, animal or land they struck. It was a merciless attack. People ran for cover, as telephones stopped sending and receiving messages. There was no more chatter, no more sharing, no goodbyes. The air was filled with microscopic particles of iron oxide dust. To breathe was to die. Yet there were survivors and life went on, it had to. Ruby was one of those survivors, learning what it meant to live in a broken world.

RUBY is a Young Adult novella about a girl named Ruby, who at the age of 17 loses everything when the world is struck by fireballs. Ruby is homeless & struggles to survive in a broken city. With the help of two strangers she searches for the truth about what happened to her sister the day the earth was struck. THE FIX is a story of love & healing & a clean romance...Sonya is a young singer from Boston, who meets Lennie a photographer. Their personal tragedies have led them to Dr Loft & his experimental three phase programme. Together they seek self-discovery & THE FIX! Both books are available with Amazon Kindle unlimited, as ebooks, and paperbacks. With RUBY there is also a hardcover option. Enjoy!
Ruby offers a haunting look at a post-apocalyptic world devastated by sudden destruction, with vivid imagery of fireballs and choking iron dust that is both striking and disturbing. Ruby’s quiet strength adds emotional weight to the story, and the novella excels in its exploration of grief, survival, and the human need for closure. However, the emotional connection to the main character often feels distant, and the limited world-building leaves too many questions unanswered about the broader context of the disaster. While the premise is compelling and the atmosphere vivid, deeper character development and a more immersive setting would have elevated this from solid to exceptional in the dystopian genre.
I would love to know what others think of RUBY! As an unknown and indie author I rely upon readers not coroporate publishing houses to approve my writing...So, please read, enjoy I hope (although Ruby is a story of survival), and let me know your thoughts...Thanks, Jan Beauclerc
