You definitely need to read the first book.

Zayla finally knows who Soren is, her mate. He is still hiding who he really is. Zayla of course can feel him, sense him and has always loved her shadow.

This adventure is more of how they can be together? Soren tries to distance himself but the feelings are strong for both of them.

You also meet Soren’s family, brothers Devlin, Craven and Zennen (?). You’ll never guess who their father is?

There is also an attack in the midst of things. Who is behind it? Why?

The characters are a bit muddled in their intentions in the middle of the book. They also seem to go back and forth with decisions they've made. It's confusing and disorienting, ESPECIALLY when you have to wait 6 hours between chapters.

A great book to read in the evenings. It has a great plot point that was continued from the first book, and has well developed characters with lovely twists throughout their story.
