Award winning author, speaker and producer Jenny L. Cote developed an early passion for God, history and young people, and beautifully blends these passions together in her two fantasy fiction series, The Amazing Tales of Max and Liz® and Epic Order of the Seven®. Likened to C.S. Lewis by book reviewers and bloggers, Jenny L. Cote opens up the world of creative writing for students of all ages and reading levels through fun, highly interactive workshops. Jenny has appeared to over 30,000 students at lower, middle, high school and universities in the US and abroad. Jenny's passion for research has taken her to London (with unprecedented access to Handel House Museum to write in Handel's composing room), Oxford (to stay in the home of C.S. Lewis, 'the Kilns', and interview Lewis' secretary, Walter Hooper), Ireland, Paris, Normandy, Rome, Israel, and Egypt. Her books are available online and in stores around the world, as well as in multiple e-book formats (Kindle, Nook, etc.). Jenny holds two marketing degrees from the University of Georgia and Georgia State University. She lives in Roswell, Georgia, with her family.
A fantastic story of trials, tragedy, triumph, and redemption, The Storm, the Fish, & the Vine tells the incredible stories of John Newton, Jonah, and Christ's amazing grace. It fits perfectly as an "intermission" for Jenny L. Cote's Revolutionary Saga; giving nods to the colonial times while returning to the classic Bible stories. Diehard fans of the series will smile at the nods given to the previous books while a new story is told.
The Storm, the Fish, & the Vine is much shorter than many of the other Epic Order of the Seven books, making it ideal for anyone—children, adults, bedtime stories, and studying students. It combines the well-loved animal characters with hope, truth, and always a sense of fun. (Don't forget the zebras!) Though I was sceptical at first with the more modern take in perspective, by the end of it I thoroughly enjoyed the commentary from the animals as they watched John Newton and Jonah's stories collide. It's perfect for a discussion or study group.
Readers will be astounded seeing through a historical and Biblical view how God loves us and will turn all things for good for those who love him, and that no one is beyond the reach of Amazing Grace.
WOW, just wow. This book was incredible. Jenny did such an incredible job (this is One of many reasons she inspires me to write ☺️😉). She weaved these three tales together so masterfully to keep you enthralled the entire way.
The humor was excellently placed, but more importantly, the theme of grace shone through like never before. I just love it 😭❤️🩹. God can use anyone shown by the incredible story of the life of John Newton. It is not without pain, but it is one that ends in such grace and joy!
Several of my favorite quotes:
"What goes into the first of life goes on throughout life."
"But by the grace of God, I am not who I was."
CW: A bit of crude humor, Slavery and abuse - all necessary, though, and written appropriately for the age group
My Rating/ Age Recommendation: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (5 out of 5 stars)/ 13+
Now, as always, I will be eagerly awaiting her next book. It can't be released soon enough 😁☺️.
