Earth Con #2

Galactic Treasure

Rate this book
Connor Masterson has finally managed to take some time off and go to Earth Con. For three days and nights, he's going to get his geek on without worrying about work or the latest edition of his science fiction manga. He never expected to find two men who embody all his dreams and fantasies there and certainly not right after signing in.

Neither Valvik nor Zaraheed are looking forward to their current assignment: go to the Earth Con located in Austin, Texas and track down any and all rumors on the Ark scrolls, an ancient collection needed for the betterment of their dying people. Neither warrior expects to be drawn to a human, especially the same one.

The two men are determined to stay as low key as possible while searching for the scrolls, but that might be hard to do when an intergalactic killer wants the scrolls for himself.

Space adventures? Check. Two hot aliens with a secret mission to find some mysterious artifact on Earth? Check. A slightly geeky guy who does not expect the impressive warriors (who he thinks are men dressed up in costumes for Earth Con, by the way) to give him the time of day? Check. Put these ingredients together, add a good dose of humor and, oh yes, a truly evil bad guy, shake well, and voilà, one portion of Galactic treasure ready to serve for your delight. It is certainly a recipe that worked well for me: very entertaining, more than a little hot, and overall a great story to read when you want to just sit back and relax for a while.

Aliens may not be everyone’s thing, but for Connor Masterson they are nothing new—in the mangas he writes. When he runs into not one, but two of them at Earth Con, an event he has been looking forward to for months, he thinks they just have particularly good costumes. When they turn out to be interested in him and want to spend time with him (and not just in the bedroom), he is flattered but still thinks it’s temporary. Boy has he got a lot to learn!

Valik and Zaraheed are on a desperate mission to find the scrolls that might save their entire species. After already leaving behind one planet, destroyed due to their own stupidity they are now struggling to survive on their new home. They don’t think what they’re looking for could possibly be on Earth, but when their general orders them to do, what are they supposed to do? Then they find Connor, whom they both cannot resist and before they know it they’re not only bonded to him, but have the biggest space pirate after them and the scrolls as well, can’t stop the bastard from kidnapping Connor, and have to face several obstacles before he can put things right again.

I think this is space opera in the best sense of the word. There are a few hints at a deeper mythology and some interesting concepts, but they get no more than a mention in passing. So this story should probably not be taken too seriously by hardcore science-fiction fans, but a tale you can enjoy if you’re looking for some adventurous fun with a serving of three hot men on the side. If you like the sound of that, and if you’re looking to have a fun time, then you will probably like this novella.

Valvik/Victor and Zaraheed/Zack are on a mission that will take them to Earth Con where they find themselves attracted to attendee Connor. Things heat up quickly between Conner, Viktor, and Zack, even as there are secrets they’re not sharing with one another. Hot and steamy alien MMM menage romantic quickie with a side of danger.

Fans of sci-fi will find the premise of this story engaging with its clever blend of alien myths and Earth culture as two alien warriors invade a Con to look for the scrolls to save their race and are inexplicably drawn to a human author who's more than he seems. What follows is a sexy, suspenseful, and action-packed journey to HEA giving us bits of character's backstories to immerse readers even more in the story.

Zaraheed and Valvik are trying to blend in at the start of the Con but their height, impressive build, and domineering nature have all eyes on them. It's quiet author Connor though who captures their attention and they undertake a sensual war to win him over against their better judgement. They take their time getting to know him as he doesn't believe in one-night stands but once they decide to claim him the sexual tension that was building explodes in a super steamy ménage that creates unexpected ramifications that puts Connor's life in jeopardy as well as the scrolls that they're desperate to have to save their people. Once a villain from Zaraheed's past enters the picture the melodrama picks up and bits of his past come to light that have us sympathetic towards the compelling warrior. Both of these warriors are unforgettable and unique in their personalities as Zaraheed is serious-minded with dominant tendencies. Valvik is more fun-loving and expressive in his emotions and not afraid by what their joining with Connor ultimately means. It takes a near-death experience and a battle with the past though before these warriors can have their HEA with the human that turns their lives upside down.

Connor is a quiet man who's very intelligent but uncomfortable in crowds. He believes in relationships and has had only a few boyfriends and is therefore shocked by the attention he receives from two super sexy warriors. They spend time getting to know each other with that time teeming with sexual tension. He's overwhelmed by the two of them but can't help accepting the sexual delights they offer which changes his life completely introducing him to a world he only wrote about before. His mind is opened by being with them and sets him on a new path which puts his life in jeopardy where he must rely on the men he's only known for three days. I liked Connor and his sweet and endearing nature that made him easy to relate to.

The premise of this story is fun and original and starts the story off strong, but the middle half gets a bit boring as their relationship evolves through sightseeing in Austin. Their first sexual encounter was super steamy, playful, with touches of dominance that differentiated Zaraheed and Valvik's personalities. The ramifications of that encounter were a nice twist that sent the story into an entirely new and suspenseful direction introducing us to the nasty villain G'herkon and his surprising connection to Zaraheed that gave even more insight into the man he is behind his serious facade. Their encounter with G'herkon though was a bit disappointing as it was over far too soon. Ultimately this was an entertaining and sexy story that at times was a bit rough around the edges but still made for an exhilarating ride with its meshing of alien and Earth cultures. I'm hoping that Ms. Adams brings us back to this world as this initial glimpse was an enticing one.
