About the author

Tracy Higley has been attempting to time travel through the pages of books since she was a child. She started her first story at the age of eight, and has since authored nearly twenty books, including the acclaimed Seven Wonders Series, and the Time Travel Journals of Sahara Aldridge. She earned a Master’s Degree in Ancient and Classical History, and has traveled to Egypt, Greece, Jordan, Israel, Italy, and Turkey, researching her books and falling into adventures. When I started this story, I wasn't sure what to expect. The cover intrigued me, and I skipped the synopsis, not that it said much.

This book is exactly what you would expect, and then a bit more. As the cover reveals, it has a medieval setting, and as the title states, it is an allegory.

With nameless characters, we join a girl who starts as a prisoner, traverse with the knight who rescued her to a kingdom. The journey is beautiful and dangerous. Joyful and tragic. But the knight is always there for her.

For those familiar with the Christian faith, the allegory is quite representative of the various aspects of life for the believer. For the non-believer, this story offers a glimpse into the promises of salvation.

Higley's writing is beautiful, and in this particular short story, it reads nearly poetic. The word choice is perfect and the imagery vibrant. If you are looking for a fast read (I read it in about 20 minutes) I would suggest picking this up.

What a wonderful story! This spoke to my heart. How often I have wondered if God truly loved me. Oh, I knew He loved everyone, but me personally? the disciples were made fishers of men and I felt that I was just another fish caught in the net, not that I was been sought after personally. And I could see how her clothing became cleaner and how repairs seemed to happen over time without her being aware. The same is true of my life. And when her partner went on ahead of her - I was in near tears at her sense of loss.

I believe that in the short term, this is a good story. In the long term, how I view things (and how I face things in life) has been changed. And isn't that what great literature is supposed to do?

This is actually a short story (35 pages) and not a book in itself.

This is a short story, but it is very good. It is very encouraging for all of those who are discouraged or feeling run down and sad. This allegory is a powerful reminder of the relationship with have with God, our purpose, and the journey of life.

This is very realistic allegory of being rescued by Our Prince and the journey to His Kingdom. Sometimes the path is pleasant but there are also many battles to face. As as we travel we become closer to the Prince and stronger when we face hardships. It is a short story and a delight to read.

Rescued is an allegory on par with the Pilgrim's Progress. Higely has masterfully written a short story telling the story of a Christian's walk with Christ. An easy read that is filled with truth and insight, Rescued is a great story that everyone should take the time to read.

This is a very powerful short story about a young enslaved girl who whilst chained and in a dungeon lost her self-worth, till she was rescued by a knight who gave her freedom and promised to lead her to the kingdom were the king awaited her arrival. The girl though had a treacherous journey ahead of her but the knight promised to be by her side always, and she ended up being a great support for others who also joined them on their journey to the kingdom. This is a religious allegory and though I personally am an atheist I can still see the power of breaking away one's chains and striving to live life freely and to one's full potential, facing anything that get thrown into the works and persevering. This short story made for a great uplifting read and for believers this will give them strength.

Beautiful! I totally identified with the believer's fears, questions, weakness, etc.
From a life filled with 'mud', but almost zero joy, to being rescued but doubting I could be loved, being so dirty, wanting to take the easy path home, because of fear, tiredness, depression, listening to false lies, etc. etc. But Jesus never leaves, just as he promised. Just a lovely short story, with so much packed into it!

This one surprised me by how much I enjoyed it. I thought I was going to read a fantasy short story, and was, instead surprised and delighted by this beautiful allegory. It reminded me quite a lot of Pilgrim’s Progress which is a favorite. This was one by far shorter, and more accessible.

So begins the release of a woman once imprisoned, now free to follow a wise and compassionate knight toward the kingdom and the King awaiting them in Rescued: An Allegory by author Tracy L. Higley.

It’s easy to identify with the journey in this short story, a rather simple illustration of the joys, the trials, the battles, and the assurance in a life of faith. The author takes a poetic approach to the tale, and some of the symbolism in the reading gave me a feeling much like I’ve had with The Chronicles of Narnia. Here’s a story suitable for ChristFic readers to take a one-sitting break with for a quick boost of encouragement.
