Assassin's Pact - a review by Rosemary Kenny.

Two American agents are targeted by foreign powers, in Assassin's Pact - Ethan Jones's terrific new Saint Assassin spy-thriller.
Hill and Saint then pair up to work out what's put them in someone's cross-hairs - but which other agents and agencies are in play?
It's dynamic action all the way and you certainly won't be disappointed by the great characters, car chases, shoot-outs, double-crosses
...and a plot with more twists and turns than a rattlesnake in a cement-mixer.

Grab your copy of The Assassin's Pact and buckle up for a wild ride!

Xavier Saint becomes suspicious of his friend after one too many close calls - 4.5 stars

Saint has worked on the fringes of spy craft and intrigue as his life's career. Saint is no stranger to wet work (murders/killings) to protect governments that work to preserve freedom and security of western-aligned countries. From time to time, Saint has been known to make deals to stay alive or to achieve a higher purpose. Trevor Hill had saved Saint and Saint had saved Hill in previous encounters. They had a close bond, or so Saint thought.

Saint and Hill had an agreement to help each other but Saint had a suspicion that Hill was holding something back. Saint was trying to locate a digital storage device that contained information about transfers of North Korea's nuclear weapons including proof of trades and transportation routes. All that Saint knew was that the information involved nuclear trades that could change the international balance of power. The information was particularly valuable to both Interpol and Mossad as well as the organizations that were moving the nuclear material.

Saint needed help in stopping one organization from trying to kill him. Hill said that he was willing to help Saint after Saint helped Hill in Poland. There was an ambush at a safe house in which both men barely escaped, jumping out a window, breaking their fall on an awning. They appeared to back each other up. Reviewing the unexpected attack, Saint was suspicious because it seemed unlikely that the attackers seemed to want to kill them both for no apparent reason.

Saint and Hill separated after the attack. Saint tried to learn who was responsible for the attack even as he accepted another assignment related to the nuclear material trade. Saint went to South Korea to interview North Korean defectors. The South Korean visit was interrupted by a gun battle in a government building. Getting out of South Korea was going to be difficult especially because the national police would be likely to shut down the airport looking for anyone who might have been connected to the fight.

Escape from South Korea including clandestine flights, airport security bribes, support offered by Mossad, artillery and rocket attacks, as well as chases in unusual vehicles, fed the non-stop physical excitement. Negotiations with Russian SVR and European Interpol trading for deals seemed realistic (not that I have any experience along those lines!). The twists and turns of bits of intelligence put me in awe of the bargaining for high stakes.

Assassin's Pact gives a healthy dose of the thrills and action associated with thrillers in this genre.

We see Saint involved in an escaped an ambush in Damascus—but danger is closing in from every direction. Two of his deadliest enemies, architects of the assassin network he’s sworn to dismantle, are hunting him.

Forced into a pact with a shadowy new client, he accepts a contract he despises. Refusal isn’t an option—the lives of his family depend on his success. In an attempt to see the contract to a safe conclusion Saint teams up with an old buddy (ex SAS) but even here all is not as it seems.

But as he prepares for a high‑stakes hit in Sri Lanka, Saint uncovers a disturbing truth: the attack in Poland and his new mission are connected in ways he never imagined. Someone is orchestrating events from the shadows, someone who knows his every move. And they’re not finished with him yet.

In a world of killers, the only pact that matters is the one you make with yourself.

Saint’s strict personal code has kept him alive—but it also leads him to a revelation that changes everything: he has a daughter, Sarah. Protecting her will shape every choice he makes from here on out.

At one point we are treated to Saint and his girlfriend, Hannah fighting for the same intel but with differing organisations and objectives in mind as to how to deal with it.

Of course it wouldn’t be a Saint thriller without the appearance of both Mossad and Russia along with Saint up to his neck in trouble in so many different locations whilst he attempts to complete his mission.

Explosive action, relentless twists, and a hero fighting for more than survival—this is a ride full of intrigue and suspense from the first page to the last.

Ethan Jones never fails to bring another excellent edition to the Saint Assassin series!

Saint Assassin mow has a new mission: Complete all of his most important missions but come home and spend time with Hannah, his companion, and Sarah, their daughter.

Assassin's Pact has a couple of surprises for you: he meets up with an old friend that ends in a joint mission. But Saint continually questions: is he still a friend or has anything changed since the last time they worked a mission together? Hannah is now an agent with Interpol. And Saint is unaware of her current mission.

Ethan Jones keeps you in suspense as these two agents follow in their missions as they both find surprises, competing sources of agencies that assigned their missions, dangerous suspects, and deadly battles for this couple as each follow the steps in their missions.

The questions are: will they complete their current missions and be back together at the end of this finely creative new book by Ethan Jones? Read it and find out for yourselves!

I quite enjoyed this read. I am an avid reader of Ethan’s books and look forward to new releases. In this latest novel Saint is faced with the duplicity and betrayal that is common in his world, some we see coming, others catch us off guard. Yet, there is loyalty and respect that reveal a strong community in this international village of agents and other players. As usual Ethan takes us on a multi-country/continent tour, with great descriptions of each setting that make me feel like I am there with Saint. In my mind’s eye I do wear a tactical vest when things get warm. The series has many familiar characters with new ones appearing to keep me engaged. The development of the characters is well thought out and presented as non-static. If you haven’t read any of these, start with this one, you’ll want to go back and read the rest! You’ll find yourself looking forward to the next installment.

Xavier Saint seriously wishes to settle down with his wife Hannah and daughter Sarah. He is also seriously aware that pigs will fly before that happens. He was a freelance operator - he usually needed help from friends to perform his assignments. Even if he paid his accomplices top dollars, he was usually left owing them favors which they wouldn’t forget. He was dangerous because he knew too much about too many bad guys who didn’t need his services any more, as well as having made many enemies during his career. Can he ever really trust anyone, except his family? Xavier did a lot of soul-searching and looking over his shoulder in this latest episode. I am never disappointed with an Ethan Jones story. It is always well-written, with strong characters, non-stop action, and lots of twists and turns that kept me reading late into the evening.

With its gripping pace and relentless suspense, Assassin’s Pact is a must-read for fans of action-packed thrillers.

Friend or foe?

Just like its predecessors, Assassins Pact is straight in with the action, it’s a fast paced, edge of your seat page turner.

Deals are made with the untrustworthy Mossad and SVR but things don’t quite go to plan as my favourite assassin, Saint, is betrayed big time by someone he thought to be a friend.

It’s well known there’s no honour amongst thieves, well you could say the same for assassins too.

Calm before the storm, just when Saint managed to snatch a few hours with the family he would give his life to protect, his world turns upside down and we are left with a massive cliffhanger.

An action-packed story with plenty of dirty dealings and international agencies helping or hindering others. An old supposed friend, seeks out Saint for help but after agreeing to provide assistance to Saint on another matter, Saint is disappointed to find things are not what he thought they were. Saints love and mother of his daughter Sarah, who is a skilled Interpol field agent in her own right, comes in to the story with some surprises making for an enjoyable fast paced read.
Recommended for all readers that enjoy twists and turns and a fast hectic pace at times.

In this brilliant addition to the Saint series we the assassin forced to team up with an old friend. Luckily this friend is also ex-SAS, but is he telling Saint everything? As anyone that has read any of Ethan Jones books you'll know this is just the beginning of a story full of treachery, action and globe spanning locations. This instalment has all the hallmarks of the authors best work and the extremely high standards he has set and maintained for so long. Putting it bluntly, you can't go wrong reading and Ethan Jones novel.

Another good story with Saint Assassin and him trying to keep himself and his family alive. This time he unknowingly starts working with his girlfriend, Interpol agent Hannah and her partner. Saint knows you cannot trust anyone, especially the SVR and Mossad, who have both made deals with Saint. But, the real betrayal for Saint is closer to home for him, and the one who is betraying him is a surprise, even for him.

Another great read by Ethan Jones. It’s an uneasy pact that Xavier Saint makes with the Mossad and reluctantly, the SVR. There are lots of action and some double crossings in the book. Will Hannah and Saint manage to save themselves? The characters and the scenes are vividly described. You feel like you are part of the story. I really enjoyed it and I cannot wait for the next novel. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a great thriller.

Xavier Saint has to protect his family, and to do so he finds he must make some pacts with other assassins. But can he really trust them, and will he survive? A good continuation to the series with plenty of action to keep the reader interested. In this one Saint is still trying to take action against the assassins network and he is tasked with trying to find the way an action in Poland is linked to what he is trying to do. He gets help from an unexpected resource.

Ethan Jones has always managed to keep me enthralled in his written work and this time with Assassin's Pact he has delivered right on target. When I first started reading the Saint journeys, I wasnt sure if he could hold my intrigue but I have to admit that I am hooked and love this character; to me Saint is his own man, creating his own path to provide just the impact a reader requires.

I found this caught my attention from the beginning and to the series that follow.
The main character struggles with his past, doesn't speak much.
He right's the wrong bringing justice .
I enjoy this author books and I do recommend them.
Well done and a quick read.

Lots of action! Who can you trust? Everybody lies. How can you possibly have a family in a situation like this? Don’t really like cliffhangers, but here we are. Can’t wait for the next installment.

What would you do if your child’s life is threatened, your mission becomes tunnel focused and completing their requests isn’t an option.

That is the position Zavier Saint finds himself in. You contemplate who your friends are, or are they?

Assassins Pact is a fast paced, action packed read that takes us on a journey across several countries and agencies dealing with backstabbing, deception, betrayal and a little loyalty with twists and turns that kept me on the edge of my seat.

Another awesome clean read and looking forward to his next book

Wheels within wheels within wheels. Assassin's Pact by author Ethan Jones contains a plot that surprises chapter by chapter, involves lethal action by a number of intelligence agencies in numerous places all in aid of getting ahold of some very damaging material concerning Iran.
And the Saint is drawn into the mess willy nilly , trying hard to keep his family, Hannah and Sarah, safe.
all I can say is...phew!
Enjoy.
