Have you ever taken one look at someone and wanted to destroy them?

That was the only thought going through my mind when I laid eyes on Lana James after she literally crashed her way into my life.

So that's exactly what I set out to do. Only I didn't take into account the way her body would make me feel, the way her words would set my soul on fire, or how her lips pressed against mine would rewrite everything I've ever known.

I think maybe, I won't be the one to destroy her, she'll be the one to ruin me.

This is a dark, enemies to lovers college romance and is book one in a series of four interconnected standalones. This book ends with a HEA and no cliffhanger. Intended for mature audiences. Content warnings listed inside the book and on the authors website.

Okay, dark bèbès, strap in—because Ruining Him is a full-blown descent into chaos, sin, and emotional whiplash. Prepare yo self 😌

We’ve got a feral assassin (Lana) on the run, hiding behind fake smiles and a forged ID, and the golden boy of campus… yes, the one who is amazing at everything, incredibly rich (old money), and of course… ridiculously hot 🥵— but also turns out to be a Devil in Dior. And the dynamic between these two is less slow burn and more brand our names onto each other as we reach oblivion.

The audiobook production is chef’s kiss. Crisp, clean, and hot enough that I had to check if my phone was overheating. Maxine Mitchell and Scott Rose devour their roles fully bringing to life Lana and Cole as well as a cast of side characters.

And for those of us who are looking for spice with plot, Wilson delivers 10 fold. Serving up action, packed chaos and a storyline that will keep you wanting to dig deeper. Beneath the chaos, there’s this haunting theme about strength and trust: how the fiercest people sometimes crave the safety of submission with the one person who truly sees them. I ate that dynamic right up ngl 👏

It’s dark, it’s dangerous, it’s unhinged—but it’s also surprisingly tender in those blink-and-you’ll-miss-it moments where both MCs forget how to breathe without each other.

TL;DR: If you like your dark romance with bite, betrayal, and a slow-dance between love and ruin— your newest obsession has arrived 😎

✨️ 🎧 ALC 🎧 REVIEW ✨️

🎙Narrators: Maxine MItchell & Scott Rose 🎙

Maxine and Scott gave us the performance of a lifetime bringing this story to life! I love it when two narrators have the best chemistry when giving us the story! Maxine gave Lana the badass FMC voice she deserved! Scott definitely gave Cole the pretty rich boy but with depth! I loved hearing their tones and how well they embraced their characters! I am excited to hear more from both of these narrators in the future!

✨️📖 On To The Book Review 📖✨️

I haven't read a dark academia in a while, and this was the perfect segway back into this world! This is also my first book by S. Wilson and I'm blown away with how much I loved the twists and turns! I had no clue about this author, but seeing how well this was written, I am even more excited about the preceding books!

I loved how dark and twisty this story was from the very beginning. It was so well written, that I saw nothing coming in the way that it did! I couldn't help but be on the edge of my seat with the constant turmoil that surrounded Lana! I loved that she was the Badass FMC that isn't written near enough for my liking! I loved that she was unforgiving in her nature and wasn't afraid to be the combative stabby badass that she was. I felt for Lana as her backstory unfolded, and she was even more surprised by some of the information that she was told. She had been through HELL and back! But she refused to not bring it along her side, and have retribution for the ones who came after her.

I loved the scenes where she was on her toes and had very little reservation when she used the skills she had learned growing up. These werent't basic skills to protect yourself, the skills were the ones that were honed to make sure that those you fought didn't come back alive anytime soon! I loved the depth that Lana had and how she asserted her dominance when needed, but also in the bedroom.

When we first saw Cole, he was the pretty rich boy who was getting a degree to work for Daddy when he graduated if he was up to his dads super high standards. His dad was super hard on him, and he wanted nothing more than to prove that he could do ANYTHING. He wanted the stamp of approval from his dad, but also to be himself. Cole had some layers that I would have loved to see more of unfold within the story. I'm a sucker for a great background story, and I feel like we didn't get enough of Cole's.

Cole fought in underground fights to relieve the stress placed on him. But also so that he could be in charge of what his fists could do. He was an amazing fighter and had one most of his fights, with the exception of the fight he had with Lana. That was definitely a fight he wasn't well enough for what she brought to the ring. I loved that he was OBSESSED with her and refused to leave her alone. Even though he had no clue just how much she would fight back with some much vigor!

Cole knew when he couldn't get the best of her, that he had to do everything he could to have her. I loved that he showed her exactly what he had to offer her. Safety, security, and the will to do anything it took to make sure that she was safe in his arms and bed. Cole couldn't help but feel the way that she made him tick. There was only ever one person for him, and he knew it was her. She gave him a run for not only his money in the ring, but also how she made him work for her attention. Even if she didn't want it.

I loved seeing the relationship between Cole and his sister Grace! He was the over-protective brother who knew no bounds when it came to her safety. They had a relationship that they could easily come to each other with ANYTHING. But respected each other enough to take their word.

The character growth that Lana and Cole had throughout the story was so refreshing, and I loved seeing how they were willing to bend for each other. I couldn't help but love these two characters even more once the end came. Did I want it to happen? NOPE. I wish that we could have gotten more about Lana's backstory and possibly more with Dare in it to back up events that she didn't know about!

I LOVED this book, and I am so beyond excited to see who's book is next and what unhinged fun it's going to bring!

You know what, I enjoyed this story so much. Some of the tropes are not usually what I go for but S.Wilson just writes them incredibly well that it’s impossible to not enjoy it! And the stakes are very high here after the Romano Empire series but she’s pulled it off!

Ruining him was well paced, easy to get into and to follow while keeping you gripped at the same time. I defo got Hunger Games vibes but make it spicy, but maybe that’s just me?! I also really enjoyed the whole ‘fight club’ thing aswell, I haven’t read alot of content on this, so thank you for giving me a new microtrope!

When two dark souls find the light, you get Lana and Cole! A very unique relationship to say the least. I liked that they didn’t just fall for each other right away… they really weren’t sure what it was that they felt and they didn’t really explore it they just knew that they felt something, it just developed and they went with it (yolo!). Even if that ment physical harm… I’m here for it!

The role reversal in the story is hot 🔥 He’s her good boy and I love the way Cole felt able to submit to her not because it was what she wanted but it’s what he needed and he was so comfortable for that (although the scene where he takes charge is super hot too!). Cole was honest from the start about his ‘mask’ and the tricky childhood with all the pressure… money doesn’t mean anything! Cole comes from an extremely elite family but possible a broken one?? I loved his close relationship with Gracie. She was his lifeline, it’s nice to see siblings portrayed this way.

Lana, wow! That’s a bad ass FMC right there. If anything, I wish we had more from Lana’s past. I just want to know more about her, her family and her adopted father. I want to know how she became to be and her time during training. Especially seen as some of those people make an appearance here. I just want to know more!!! Like I say, this author keeps you gripped and wanting more.

That HEA… yes Lana!!! Again, what a queen! Taking the bull by its horns and just doing life. That was a surprise and I’m really glad we got this glimpse into their happy ever after!

I cannot wait for the rest of this series!! I’m wondering/hoping if the second book will be Logan’s?! Im hoping we see the rest of Cole’s friends, I really liked the vibes they give! It’s a strong 4* from me!

Lana is the “not like other girls” FMC…. But my girl is really not like other girls. She’s the unhinged one, growing up in mercenary compound and running/hiding for her life does that to a girl.

Cole is the typical rich “pretty boy” MMC, but enjoys his romance on the darker side, much to his surprise.

There is a slight bully aspect to their story, but it boils down to Cole and Lana think they hate each other, but really they only hate how much they are drawn to each other. They both hold their own, and it’s kind of cute how they just go with the flow with the crazy train that is their relationship.

I wouldn’t say this is full FemDom but on the verge because Lana is very much dominate in her own right but Cole is a switch for sure. My boy likes to be called a good boy.

I can’t go into much plot detail in order to avoid spoilers, but it’s a unique plot which was executed perfectly in my opinion.

I enjoyed both main characters (& character growth), all the secondary characters, the plot, and the spice. The epilogue was a perfect ending to their story because honestly Lana’s personality just fit that ending.

Lana, the goddess that you are. One of my absolute favorite FMCs that I've read in a long time. She takes crap from no one and weilds a strength that is refreshing. Her dynamic with Cole from the get go gave me instant love for the pair, while her story is a tragic one it doesn't prevent her from carrying a mischievous, even playful side that I truly loved reading about. This story will make you feel all the feels in the best way and can I just say, that epilogue? Perfection!

Ruining Him by S. Wilson is a dark enemies to lovers romance. CHECK YOUR TRIGGERS please!!!! Omg this book is full of so many delicious surprises, some having me question my morals. I literally could not stop listening to this story almost like a craving or an addiction that I wanted more and more. Don’t get me started on the FMC, Miss Lana James, who has become one of my favorite FMCs ever! Lana is beautiful, intelligent, resourceful, a firecracker, and down right brutal when need be. I love her sassy and smart a** remarks. She will literally take no sh*t from anyone whether it’s man or woman! Then we have the MMC, Cole, aka Mr Brooding. This man has some unusual k*nks, but you can’t help but be intrigued by it. Together, Lana and Cole are a power house just waiting to explode. The s*xual tension and bratty banter is soooooo exquisite. When the spice moments hit, oh my they are something else and scorching! This just may be the deadliest fight they ever encountered and it is worth it to see who’s left standing. I’m definitely listening to this one again!

For the audiobook, Maxine Mitchell and Scott Rose performance was down right sinful! Their execution of their characters so enticing and authentic. Well done! Let’s just say Maxine was made for this role with her seductive low voice and razor sharp back talk! This was my first time listening to Scott Rose and I was impressed! Thank you Blue Nose Audio for this ALC opportunity!

Ruining Him
Blackwater University, Book 1
By: S. Wilson
Narrated by: Maxine Mitchell, Scott Rose

Fast paced and dark, this is the perfect listen for me! Lana is at Blackwater University, but is she there to be a student? This woman is a tough, dangerous woman and not afraid of anything. Cole, your typical spoiled rich kid has no love for Lana. At least that is what he thinks. The thin line between love and hate separate these two and draw them together at the same time. The twists and turns that S Wilson takes in this new dark college romance kept me on edge, not only the foreplay between Cole and Lana, but treacherous danger that is following Lana. The loyalty, the depth and the passion of all the characters is unbending. The tragedies that make the heart hurt give the depth and realism to their personalities. I loved this one, especially with the strength that Lana has! It's so much fun to have the female be the one in charge! I can't wait for the next one in the series to see what happens next.

And enhancing the story is Maxine Mitchell and Scott Rose! What a team to make the darkness deep and the feelings strong. I loved these two together as they created all the feels, from anger to love and had me invested in the outcome. I couldn't stop listening to their amazing performance.

Duet Narration by Maxine Mitchell & Scott Rose

Ruining Him was my first book by this author and it delivered a fast paced and captivating storyline with intriguing characters. Lana James is one of the most fierce FMC. She has many secrets and a dark past with an active hit out on her, but she was still mysterious, flirty, and sassy! Cole and Lana have an instant lust /enemies to lovers relationship and it kept me on the edge of my seat with all the push and pull then dynamic chemistry. Lana was guarded but was dominant when it came to Cole and I loved his submissive side of being a good boy. This book was a wild ride but one I thoroughly enjoyed.

Narration by Maxine Mitchell and Scott Rose was simply fantastic. They hit the emotion, pain, and banter perfectly. Their voices flowed nicely together and they embodied the characters exactly how I wanted them.

I found a new obsession! And i need you all to read it, or listen to it, because the audio on this one was perfection!

If you are looking for a book where she is the more unhinged one, this one is definitely for you! You will love Lana, she knows how to stalk, knows how to fight, and knows how to uncover new kinks in Cole. What more would you like?

I loved both Lana and Cole, they were amazing, and Cole’s acceptance that he is a good boy was everything! I did feel that the ending was a bit rushed, with all the things uncovered, but it was still an awesome book!

I don’t think i’ll be shutting up about this book for a while now, and i need Gracie’s story stat!

This is a pretty ridiculous story that's entertaining only because of how ludicrous it is. The actual story is pretty weak and it felt like just an excuse to write some weird spicy scenes. Not for me but there's a large audience that will like it.

After a fabulous Mafia series, S. Wilson has now dipped her toes into the world of dark academia with the first book in her Blackwater University Series. Dark academia is a fave trope of mine so was keen to read from the moment it was announced & I thoroughly enjoyed it!

You have love at first sight but with Lana & Cole it’s very much hate at first sight. And these two don’t let up with their determination to destroy one another. But they say, there’s a very fine line between love & hate. As secrets are gradually revealed, an obsession takes hold & there’s nothing Cole won’t do for his tough, ass-kicking girl.

S. Wilson has a knack for writing strong female characters & Lana is tough, resilient & headstrong, certainly no damsel in distress & I love that about her! This has all the intensity of dark romances that I love but also, dark humour seamlessly woven into the story. The banter between Cole & his 3 BFFs was so much fun & has peeked my curiosity about them! Definitely recommend this & I am excited for future books from the series.

Ruining Him is the first book I’ve read by S. Wilson, I enjoyed it so much that I am looking forward to checking out more of her work!

When Lana finds herself at Blackwater University, a school for the rich and powerful, it’s literally the last place she wants to be. Unfortunately there is a hit out for her life and Blackwater is the safest place for her to be. Lana stands out amongst her peers, which is how she caught Cole’s attention. It’s hate from their first interaction, which eventually leads to some pretty epic spice. Their relationship transforms from hate, to friends with benefits to eventually love as they spend more time together. It is clear Lana is keeping secrets, but will she be able to keep herself and Cole safe when the threat she is running from finally finds her.

Like I said, I really enjoyed this one! Lana is one kick ass FMC and her no nonsense attitude was refreshing. Not only was she a spitfire, she also had the ability to fight to back up her fierce personality. I loved Cole, he was the safe space that Lana needed after spending her life looking over her shoulder. Lana and Cole’s dynamic was unique, I loved the fem domme energy Lana brought and the way Cole was her “good boy” yet also a possessive, alpha MMC.

The narration was wonderful! Ruining Him is narrated in duet by Maxine Mitchell and Scott Rose. There is a reason they call her “Queen Maxine”, she absolutely ruled her performance as Lana. Maxine brought Lana’s vivacious personality to life perfectly. Scott was great as Cole, he captured Cole’s personality and energy so well. He also did a great job giving all of the male characters their own distinct voice. I definitely recommend checking out this audio!

In this gripping tale of opposites attracting, Lana and Cole's worlds collide in the most unexpected ways. Lana, having grown up in a mercenary compound, is a force of nature. Unpredictable, unyielding, and unhinged in the most compelling way. Her survival instincts are razor-sharp, honed from years of running and hiding, making her truly unlike any other girl. On the other hand, Cole is the epitome of the privileged "pretty boy," accustomed to getting what he wants with ease. However, beneath his polished exterior lies a taste for the darker side of romance, which even he hadn't fully acknowledged, until he met Lana. Their relationship is a tempest of emotions, with a touch of a bully dynamic, as they grapple with the intensity of their attraction. They claim to despise each other, yet it's clear that what they truly loathe is the undeniable pull they feel, challenging everything they thought they knew about love and themselves. Their story is a rollercoaster of tension, passion, and unexpected revelations, proving that sometimes, what we think we hate is exactly what we need.
Maxine Mitchell and Scott Rose truly form a dynamic duo, bringing depth and intensity to their storytelling. Their synergy in portraying complex emotions, from anger to love, keeps listeners thoroughly engaged. Mitchell shines as the mysterious and formidable Lana, effortlessly balancing strength with vulnerability. Her portrayal is captivating and draws listeners into the character's world. Meanwhile, Rose complements Maxine perfectly, embodying Cole's journey of self-discovery and relentless pursuit of his desires with authenticity and passion. Together, they create a compelling narrative experience that resonates deeply with listeners and leaves a lasting impression.

Ruining Him is the first audiobook in S. Wilson’s Blackwater University series. And based on this story, it promises to be one heck of a series! This is a dark, bully/enemies-to-lovers romance set in an elite university. There is so much more to this story than first meets the eye (or ear in this case), and it had me hooked right from the jump. And rather than doing a data dump at the end of the story (like we so often see), S. Wilson rolls out delicious tidbits throughout the story that culminate in an explosive conclusion. This first book centers around Lana and Cole, who are pretty equally matched, in my opinion, as adversaries. They really kind of bully each other. And the wickedly sassy banter is next level! When they get together, there are always fireworks—in and out of the bedroom. Lana is just a straight-up bad a** and can definitely put Cole in his place. And Cole is an alpha through and through, but when he gets behind closed doors with Lana, he’s just as happy to be her good boy. I loved everything about this audiobook! The duet narration from Maxine Mitchell and Scott Rose was second to none, with both actors completely inhabiting their roles. Maxine Mitchell’s portrayal of Lana was nothing short of perfection. She completely nailed Lana’s attitude yet also flawlessly delivered on those rare moments when Lana showed her vulnerability. And Scott Rose certainly more than did justice to Cole, perfectly capturing every facet of this compelling character. And I want to give an extra shout-out to Scott Rose for the way he voiced Cole’s friends, giving each a unique voice and personality. I absolutely cannot wait to see where this series takes us next!

ALC Review

This story had me hooked from the start and I had a hard time pressing pause to resume, well, my world that isn’t nearly as dark and dangerous as this one. S. Wilson is a new to me author, and I was thrilled to see the casting of Maxine Mitchell and Scott Rose.

This college-aged romance is a dark foray into the enemies to lovers trope with a delicious twist — Lana (the FMC) matches (if not exceeds) Cole’s sinister personality with definite black cat energy. Maxine, cast as the role of Lana gave me an IMMEDIATE desire to listen. Maxine in any contemporary romance is a win, and I’ve been awaiting her dark side. And she absolutely shimmers.

What I really loved about Lana and Cole is that they have a magnetism that is unavoidable and plays well to the dynamic Maxine and Scott create with their voices. Both performances are smooth, and provide plenty of bite. If you have never listened to Scott Rose, well, this is the book to get in your earbuds. His delivery as a confident man turned simpering, lusting fool is so charming.

This book is a great listen if you crave a departure from the typical dark romance dynamic of the male protagonist being the one with all the edge, because Cole follows Lana’s lead like he is under his spell. And when you listen, well, you are bound to be as well.

Check your content warnings before diving in — there are some spiiiiiiiicy scenes that involve some darker kinks that are very well written and dangerously performed.

This was my first time listening to Scott Rose and I was impressed! He truly brought Cole to life in all ways. He was very intriguing and kept you hooked to your earbuds. Maxine is a perfect female narrator of mine. She always brings the female to life perfectly.

Lana is really not like other girls. She’s a sassy take no shit unhinged one. She grew up in a mercenary compound and has been running/hiding for her life. Cole is the typical rich boy but he has a darker side he discovers whenever playing with Lana. He fights in underground fights — so whenever he sees Lana in the ring, he’s very intrigued. He wants to uncover all her secrets. He slowly starts falling for her and it’s amazing to listen to. I loved these two together. They are the perfect couple. They literally kill for each other! I loved their back & forth banter. They played pranks on each other and it built the tension higher! Highly recommend and I can’t wait to listen to book 2!!

How is this the cutest, "dark" romance!? Or I'm completely desensitized to murder and other things in books. 😆 I really enjoyed this book it was fast paced and a good story line.

ALC REVIEW:
STORY: 4 🌟
NARRATIONS: 5 🌟
DUET

Lana Lana (Little Menace) you are so funny and so mean to poor Cole. You definitely pulled off the badass fmc and I'm really judgy against fmcs. (I hate him, kinda)

*on the run (hiding)
*secret society
*raw & primal
*knife play
*secrets
*death

Cole (Pretty Boy) the push and pull you have with your "Little Menace" is hilarious. I know this is supposed to be a dark romance but it's so cute! Good boy Cole!! (I hate her, kinda)

*family legacies
*rich boy problems
*kinky
*found purpose

Narrators couldn't of been more spot on! Maxine Mitchell is one of my top go to in female narrators and she fkn was great in this. Scott Rose is (new to me) though and he did not disappoint 🙌 👏. How good of a boy you were!! I will definitely look you up for more books you've done.

If fictional men don't, I will certainly worship the ground the fictional women written by this author walk on.
I have a huge girl crush on Lana. She is an ICON, a DIVA *bows down*.
What do you mean she can fight men thrice her size and can manage weapons like toys? If you are in search of such a character, worry no more!

This book!?
I devoured this book in one sitting. The character development, the chemistry between both the MCs and that one person who is NOT the villain of the story among all the bad people, everything fits perfectly.
The spicy scenes will get you all hot while reading. I mean, even I don't remember how many times I felt like sitting under the fan because I got sweaty while reading the *hot* scenes!

The plot, like all her other books, is fabulous and engaging. I did not see the last plot twist coming and it felt like the shock of MY life.

One of my best reads of 2025 and I would pay people money to read this book! 💯

This is my ALC:
One of the most badass MFCs has entered the chat. Lana James, come on down! I loved everything about. This story, from Lana and her background, to Cole’s instant obsession. One of my favorite things was the sorta roll reversal of Lana being the badass fighting and being mysterious. Taking what she wants and not caring. Cole is the one who gives in to her, letting himself take on the mostly submissive role (though they have a power exchange which fit them perfectly). This book kept me on the edge of my seat! Voice actor Maxine Mitchell was phenomenal at conveying this mysterious badass. I loved every second of her domination. Even when Lana lets her guard down and she’s tender, Maxine gives you all of herself and more. Truly she was captivating. Scott Rose as Cole, whew… such an incredible storyteller. He helped me believe Cole along his journey of self worth and not stopping until his possessive heart got what it wanted. He matched Maxine’s energy perfectly.

ALC REVIEW 🎧

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ — Advanced Listener Copy

This book had me hooked from
The start, I literally started and finished the audiobook in 1 day!

We’ve got our FMC Lana who is an assassin on the run and then there’s the MMC Cole and he’s the golden boy of campus! Everyone loves him and when they all think that Lana is his enemy she becomes campus enemy number one… BUT what people don’t realise is underneath he isn’t so golden.

The chemistry between Lana and Cole is undeniable from the start. A true definition of “it’s a fine line between love and hate” they love to hate each other, the spice is off the charts hot!! 🔥

We all swoon over nicknames right? Well this one we get “pretty boy” and & lots of “good boy”
This man loves to let the fmc think she’s in control ❤️‍🔥

The audiobook narration is sooo good! Maxine Mitchell and Scott Rose absolutely embody these characters!! The delivery adds an intensity and vulnerability that elevated the story.

Plot-wise, the author mixes intense action with raw emotions. Beneath the chaos and the spice, there’s a powerful exploration of trust, control, and vulnerability, what it means to let someone see the parts of you that could destroy you.

It’s dark, unhinged, and unexpectedly tender in all the right ways. If you like your romances with a sharp edge, layered characters, and tension then this book is for you!

This was my first book by this author and definitely won’t be the last!!

Ruining him is a fast paced story that is quit easy to follow. The story does not have a lot of side characters, so the main characters have a bit more time for their background story. For me the first half of the book felt like it was more directed to Cole and keeping the mysterie around Lana. But after having killed a few persons together we get to know more about Lana.

To have a more dominant MFC (Lana/Little menace) and a lesser dominant MMC (Cole/Good boy) is something that is very refreshing in the dark romance scene. Especially the scenes in the fighting ring, Lana absolutly devoured her opponents.

I was qurious how the more 'heavy/dark' tropes like blood and knife play would be written in this story; and I need to say, the knife play did not dissapoint. Thou I think the blood play could have been mentioned more.

I listened to the audiobook.

So, take what you’d typically expect from the MMC in a dark college romance and flip that. In this story the FMC was the bad***, dominant, take control, protective one. The MMC, Cole, could hold his own and was just as protective but, Lana ran the show. I loved that! The chemistry and connection between them was so good. Their characters came along way and I was happy with how the story ended. I loved the banter between them and all the side characters that had me laughing at times. It was a quick, fun, dark college romance and I enjoyed it.

The narration was performed in duet by Maxine Mitchell and Scott Rose. They did amazing voicing these characters and bringing the story to life!

Ruin Him is book one in The Blackwater University series. Lana is the new student to this secret society type university. This college doesn’t usually get new students. Cole is one of the top students. He is on his way to taking control of his father’s company. Cole has a secret dark side that craves release. He fights in underground fights at “The Church”. Cole is very interested in Lana, and where she came from. One night while Cole was at The Church, he sees Lana in room three. That’s where the fights with no limits or rules takes place. He sees her in the ring just destroying her opponent. He sees the same darkness within himself in her too. This book may have triggers for some. I throughly enjoyed this book.

Maxine Mitchell and Scott Rose did a fantastic job narrating this book in duet style narration.

S. Wilson brings us a wild ride of Lana and Cole. Lana is our badass FMC who appears on campus and as the story propels forward, we learn more and more about her mysterious past. I think what really drew me into the story was how much Lana was very much in charge, and really the star of this book. Having her frequently be the aggressor throughout the story was such a fresh and much needed perspective. Cole was no pushover however, unless it turned him on. The knife and praise kinks for Cole were an unexpected twist that I loved.

The writing in this story was excellent and the narration was fantastic. Maxine Mitchell took Lana to another level that I'm not sure any one else could have accomplished. Scott Rose really managed to bring that balance of vulnerability and toughness that embodied Cole. A great start to the Blackwater University series!

WOW! Just WOW!! She's a new to me author & this is Lana & Cole's story. She's new at his college & right away they can't stand each other. But she has secrets & is running; there's people after her & she really doesn't fit in there at first. Cole doesn't like her at all, but the attraction keeps putting her in his orbit. He's determined to find out all there is about her & she surprises him at every turn! Lana is a badass all on her own & can take care of herself. They argue all the time, but when they finally give into what they're feeling, Cole finds out some things about himself that he didn't know. There's so much happening here & I loved the story. The spice was fantastic & I highly recommend this book & author!

I’ve been needing a good dark romance and Ruining Him gave me what I wanted and more! The best part about this book is our FMC Lana is the trained fighter/killer. She running from her past but things always catch up to you. And Cole our MMC is kinda obsessed with Lana after seeing her fighting and winning against a huge guy at the church. Their relationship was all hate/lust/love and it was chefs kiss. Maxine Mitchell and Scott Rose brought is amazing book to life and it was flawless. These two made us feel every conflicting emotion Cole and Lana had. This was my first book by S. Wilson, but it won’t be my last.

Losing her father and running to stay alive, Lana ends up Blackwater University where she is told she will be safe. Having someone there that she trusts and helps keep her safe. Blackwater university for the wealthy, Lana stands out from everyone which has them all talking behind her back and making up stories. She bumps into Cole, literally. At that moment they become secretly obsessed with each other. Only her past starts to come in full force and it’s literally a fight for survival. Cole promises he will do anything for her. Lana goes through more heartbreak.
I love a stabby FMC, and Lana is the best stabby FMC there is. She takes on men double her size and takes them down. And I absolutely love her for it. She is brilliant and sassy. The banter between Lana & Cole is fantastic. I love them both separately and even more together. Towards the end my heart broke for Lana, silent tears rolled down my face for her.

This book was so much fun and I loved the banter between the main characters. If you enjoy fierce, sassy and badass fmc's that definitely would make the mmc bark for them then you'll love Lana. I thought the " hidden past " plot was interesting and it was fun to discover new things about the characters and the spice was good. There's blood/knife play and " good boy " so the spice was very good. Overall it was a fun and enjoyable read and I recommend it.

well I wasn’t expecting that!

Ok so this is definitely a good read! She is a good surprise to the normal mfc and I’m totally here for it. She has no problem putting his dad in line and also him. But they both try to take the lead all the time lol. She is totally my hero in this book, but Cole is absolutely amazing! I would love to learn more about Logan. I feel like there is more to the story with him and Lana than we know. I feel like he’s got bigger secrets than he’s letting on about. And the spice is totally there!!!
