this corey perry x connor bedard’s mom fanfic with the serial numbers scratched off was… well, bad.
the smut was intensely heterosexual, particularly interruptable, and weird. i’ll never look at skate guards the same way again. i wish i hadn’t read allat.
if you have to put a trigger warning in the middle of a chapter and suggest that the following scene isn’t required reading, why include it? at all?
the hockey—what little of it there was—was not great, despite our fmc posturing about how much she knows when it comes to line shift changes. she was wrong.
hey, also, by the way, side note, why was there a bye week in (presumably) october/november?
also also, by the by the way way, how in the world did she keep her job at the cafe while traveling full time with the team? she presumably went to work twice in a month and a bit. has the author never held a job in their life?
AND WHYYY was her eighteen year old son on an elc making SEVEN FIGURES??? NOT TO MENTION. why was he drafted FIRST OVERALL out of a small town from his high school team. AND he has a reputation for being a bad kid. no talk of sending him down to the ahl? or to juniors? okay yeah.
also, coach should not have been handling some of this shit. that’s front office work.
at least there were funny parts, such as ledger saying he had never had a girlfriend because he wanted something other than vanilla sex. skill issue. find a facebook group or something.
my friends and i kept referring to ledger cole as corey perry as we discussed this book. i said “we are kissing corey perry” one too many times that we accidentally formed a corey perry sister wives support group. i regret it, i don’t want anything to do with that man.

This book had a lot of pluses and minuses for me. I am going to start with what I liked about the book!
I really enjoyed the mother and son relationship between Auburn and Austin. You can tell that she loves her son and takes her role as his mother seriously. She has continually sacrificed for Austin because she would do anything for him. This is genuine and relatable because it is a relationship I have with my mom… I know how much she has sacrificed for me!
I liked the relationship between Ledger and Auburn. He liked her from the first moment he saw her crying on the sidewalk and pursued her since. He tried to fight it at the bar, but even drunk all he thought about was Auburn.
I liked the concept that it was a new player’s mom and a veteran on the hockey team. I haven’t seen that trope before so it was really cool!
I enjoyed the writing style as everything made sense and was easy to follow. However, the book did drag for me at some parts. I wanted more plot (rising action, climax, and falling action) although the book had these things I feel like more could’ve been added. The book seemed to lack a structure plot, instead a little plot that dragged at some parts since it was a but predictable.
What I didn’t like
Austin seems to selfish and at times I wanted to shake him. He is supposed to be this player on a NHL team, but he seems to be so immature. Like he doesn’t seem to learn… Auburn even said how he got in trouble in their small town. Then he gets in trouble again and seems to be mad that his mom becomes his traveling babysitter as the coach’s requirement for staying on the team. He stands her up and doesn’t seem to understand how lonely his mom must be she dropped everything to follow him and his NHL journey.
I didn’t like the sex scenes… I am a dark romance girlie and I love spice. However, some of the sex scenes gave me the ick. And I felt like instead of adding to their chemistry, romance, or relationship I think it took away. Especially, when they were frequent and then they start saying well we don’t really know each other’s favorite things. So the relationship seemed to be more sex driven, which they even state as friends with benefits.
I wanted some more depth in some aspects of the story. I would have liked to see Auburn’s therapy sessions, especially since she mentions them. I think I’d like a more in depth look into Auburn’s healing process. A deeper look into Ledger especially since he mentions this being his last year. I think he even mentions that his parents wanted to come more to games, since it is his last season. So I would have liked to see or meet his parents. Also love Auburn’s suggestion of Ledger being a kids hockey coach and would have loved to see that more explored.
Overall, I liked the book but I didn’t love it and it wasn’t my favorite read. Ultimately I wanted so much more tension, heartfelt dialogue, and healing scenes!

these two were soooo cute!! i really loved the tension between the two of them & the hurdles they had to go thru! i will say the back & forth with auburn got frustrating at times & how ledger just took it but that had a lot to do with her trauma & i wish that she would have just realized it was wrong sooner haha

My first Vee Taylor book. Really liked it. Crazy premise, but so much fun with it.
Auburn's son is the youngest NHL player in history. He's moved to a new city and started his dream job. Auburn was young when she had him. She dedicated her life to raising him. So when he moved, so did she.
Suddenly, becoming an NHL player has its Perks, one of them being the money. With that money comes a new place. Where a lot of the team lives. And one of those players has just met Auburn. Aaaaand he's smitten.
Cole is also playing with Auburns son. He's his captain! But it doesn't matter, though, right? They're not together. Are they? It's a major complication. So is the fact that Auburn is now spending a lot of time with the team.
Woosh, it's a mess. There's also the fact that Auburn doesn't have the best history with guys. But honestly, the way he respects her... was so sweet. He cared so much. And I loved how much Auburn grew as a person. She just needed the right support.
Love, love, loved the ending!

First, I would like to thank the author for allowing me to ARC read this. I wish I loved the story but I just didn't. It wasn't bad and I didn't hate it. It was well written but I didn't find myself invested in the MCs.
The FMC was assaulted at 17. She was celibate for 18 years and within two days of meeting the MMC she's already given him a blow job? She was a virgin when she was assaulted but not long after she meets the MMC she's willing to use a hockey skate guard as a sex toy to get herself off in the middle of the arena? She doesn't even like being in a room with a man with the door closed because she doesn't feel safe. I just found her actions to be highly unbelievable, and it took me out of the story.
Also, the way they're treating her son, the "kid" who is in the NHL, was pretty unbelievable, too. They want his mom to travel with him to games because he went to the bar WITH HIS TEAM MATES using a fake ID? They give the son a hard time about the puck bunnies, but then the MMC says, "I'm known to indulge in a bunny or two," and that was just gross to me and served no purpose in furthering the story.

your pucking mom was the perfect mix of traumatic (tws for sexual assault and a narcissistic parent), sweet (my babyyyyy ledger! what a sweet soul), and spicy (that fidget spinner line rly got me 🤪)
I loved the unique storyline of son’s hockey captain! (and also loved that the captain wasn’t like 22 🫣) appreciated not having an age gap here!
loved this sm and can’t wait for book 2! (pls tell me it’s austin 👀)

Oh my gosh! Vee Taylor has done it again. This was my first sports related romance and it most definitely will not be my last! I love the way Vee writes and how she makes emotional, physical and mental health relatable outside her books! Auburn and Ledger’s story is great and truly relatable. Vee does a great job at showing both main characters back stories. Also the spice that is in this book…woah 🥵. I loved this book so much that I cannot wait for more!

The way I loved this book! This was my first book by the author and it won’t be the last.
Auburn’s son is the youngest NHL player in history, and when he signs with his new pro team, she follows him to his new city. After getting in trouble his first weekend on the team she is assigned to accompany him on his away games. What she doesn’t expect is to fall for his captain, Ledger Cole.
Ledger is instantly turned off by Auburn’s son but when he realizes the woman he can’t stop thinking about, and at the coffee shop is the mom he has a dilemma.
Auburn and Ledger’s connection is instant, but once they realize who the other is, things get complicated, but they can’t stay away.
Auburn has so much growth in this book! She has went through so much and I loved how caring and patient Ledger was with her. He was exactly what she needed to help her heal.
The spice was perfection and I loved the ending!
There are some dark topics so I recommend checking trigger warnings!

First off, thank you so much to the author and BlueNose Audio for the advance listener copy in exchange for my honest review.
This was my first read by Vee Taylor so I wasn’t sure what to expect. But after reading the blurb, I was intrigued with the son’s teammate X teammates mom trope as that is not one that I had read before. This was a very fast paced story and I have mixed feelings on that. On one hand I can appreciate the strength and liberation Auburn found being with Ledger, but, to me, the sexual aspect happened way too quickly for what she went through in her past. With that said, overall I still enjoyed the story and I loved the duet narration by Amy Hall and Sebastian York.
This was my first read by Vee Taylor so I wasn’t sure what to expect. I will start by saying I received this as an arc, which I am very grateful for.
What I loved: 🥰
•I enjoyed the relationship with her son. You can definitely tell they grew up together, and being from a teenage pregnancy, it was cute to see.
- She was committed to being the type of mom she never had, and she definitely followed through with that. 🥰
•Ledger was always there to support her and do whatever she needed.
- He is known as a grump, but he was never grumpy towards her.
What I didn’t love: 😭
•I want to start by acknowledging that I understand narcissistic behavior. However, the constant emphasis on her belief that she was unlovable and couldn’t accept love became increasingly frustrating.
- I almost gave up on the book 3 times but pushed through. Was it worth it? It’s hard to say. I would have been perfectly content with stopping in the middle of the book.
- Then she switched at the end, and it was like whiplash because we didn’t get to see any character growth…like at all.
•The spicy 🌶️ scenes, instead of creating a sensual mood, made me cringe 😬 . They definitely pulled me out of the story, and not in a good way.
•The book was generally good, like it had good potential for a great plot, but it just dragged on for an excessive amount of time due to her “unloveable” character, which made it difficult for me to continue reading.

Single mom Auburn has always been devoted to and lived for her now 18 year old son since she became a teenage mom at 17 under traumatic circumstances, never dating, and trying to cope with a slim wallet and the scars of her past. Now that her son is a signed NHL rookie living in Chicago, Auburn has moved into a small place within an hour of his fancy apartment and is trying to figure out the next phase of her life. As she struggles as a barista and with her now empty nest, she runs into a gorgeous man not once but three times in as many days. Amidst a downpour and a long walk back to her hard fought parking space, he charms her into “just dinner” at his place, which happens to be in her son’s building.
NHL veteran Ledger knows as a 32 year old in a grueling sport that his days playing professionally are numbered. When he runs into the same petite blonde several times, he begins wishing for something more in his personal life, and he’s convinced Auburn is it. The problem of course, is she doesn’t date, and he’s the captain of her son’s team. Add in all the ways her baggage and his own have shaped them, and it’s anything but a smooth ride.
There were some very heavy themes which were addressed in this book, and I truly appreciated that Auburn was a bit messy, particularly for a woman whose s3xual experiences had been limited to trauma and much later self-pleasure, as this felt authentic to her character arc. ARC Review:
This book was such a different take on a hockey romance. It has angst, heartbreak but a healing journey to love.
Auburn became a teenage mom to Austin and sacrificed her own life to make sure he had the best life. She dealt with a narcissist mother putting her down her entire life. When her son made NHL dream happen she did what she continues her sacrifices and moves to Chicago to be near him.

I loved the growth and healing that Auburn experienced throughout this story. She was given the love that she was missing her whole life when she was with Ledger. Ledger Cole is the Captain for the NHL team that Auburn's son, Austin, was signed to. Due to some issues right off the bat, Auburn was hired to be a chaperone for her son. There was a lot of push from Ledger for a relationship, and pull from Auburn since she wanted to protect her son and his career. Since becoming a teen mom unexpectedly, ( check trigger warnings for this story ) Auburn has had the weight on her shoulders. Ledger is the one that helps her through the trauma. This book had a good balance of plot and spice. I enjoyed the side characters and how there is a found family element for Auburn and Austin.

Auburn was such a great character. She grew and became more sure of herself as the book went on. Especially with Ledger's help. He was so loving and supportive. He understood her needs and did everything he could to make her feel safe.
Auburn and Austin had a great relationship, he loved his momma and everything she sacrificed for him.

This was an emotional read!
I love how important Auburn’s son is to her and the way she set her entire life around him and making sure he has what he needs is so relatable, but she has a lot of healing to do.
From her run in with Ledger to finding out he’s the captain on her son’s NHL team it’s such a tension filled time between them.
I love how Ledger always does what he can to help her feel safe and the impromptu trip to Scotland?!!! Jealous!
This was a good hockey romance but my favorite part was watching Auburn heal and finally stand up for herself with her mother. Sometimes the best thing you can do is walk away from that relationship and do everything you can to be a different/more present mom.

Your Pucking Mom was a cute, insta-love, hockey romance. It was a nice change from what I normally fill my earbuds with. The performances from both Amy Hall and Sebastian York were amazing, entertaining and binge-worthy. They are two of my favorite voice actors, so it’s really no surprise I adored their performance in this book.
A situation from her past has shaped Auburn, the FMC, and it’s the result of why she is the way she is. Throw in an emotional abusive parent, and you now have a traumatized and affection-starved character, who seems to live her life for her hockey playing, troublemaker son. So, meeting the perfect man on a horrible day, who just so happens to be the captain of the same team, well, that’s the icing on the cake. And so the predicament begins. Feelings and careers are being put at risks. The ups and downs of this story kept me wanting more from chapter to chapter. I had several feelings while listening to this audiobook; happiness and giddiness but also frustration and irritation. Sometimes we need to make choices for ourselves and for our own happiness.
This was an easy, enjoyable book that had plenty of spice and entertainment. The side characters were a great addition to the storyline and I loved that FMC finally had the growth she deserved.

Vee Taylor has officially entered her hockey era, and I am so in love. Vee's writing is so easy to follow and too bingeable.
This story follows Ledger & Auburn. Auburn's son got recruited to play professional hockey, so Auburn moved to be close to him. What she didn't know she was going to meet and fall in love with her son's broody hot captain (please know Auburn had Austin VERY young, so there is not a huge age gap between Ledger & Auburn).
They really tried to be friends because they knew it was a bad idea to get wrapped up with each other, but they couldn't help themselves. Their chemistry was off the charts and the spice was spicin'...and may have included a skate guard. HOOOTTTT!
The growth we see in Auburn as we learn the trauma she has dealt with for 18 years is impeccable. Ledger is the complete opposite of broody, but ONLY for her.
I am so excited for the rest of the Ravens Hockey series.

Let’s dive into it,
I absolutely loved this book. The second the story kicks off, I was hooked. Auburn and Ledger with their magnetic relationship is 𝓮𝓿𝓮𝓻𝔂𝓽𝓱𝓲𝓷𝓰. The push and pull of their dynamic throughout the book was *chef’s kiss 😘
Auburn’s entire plot was raw and real. Her struggles and perseverance was relatable and personal. The way Vee Taylor handles the delicate storyline of Auburn as a character was beautifully done. Her character development is empowering and true to life. Auburn doesn’t just magically become stable, but instead, she grows and evolves in a natural way.
Let’s talk about Ledger. Wow oh wow. Now as much as Auburn is a practical, realistic character who goes through trauma and comes out still working on herself, Ledger is written to be swoon worthy. He is written to embody romance. I’m not saying he’s unrealistic, but the quotes I’ve highlighted from him are just 🥹😍🥹
Ledger is not only patient, but he’s unrealistically sweet and soft. He may be a rough ruthless hockey player, but with Auburn he is a man trying to be the best version of himself for the woman he loves.
Special shoutouts to Alex, Stassi, and Austin 👏👏 These characters were fun to read about and great additions to the overall plot.

The way I loved this booked!! Vee has entered her hockey era and I am here for it!! I loved auburn and ledger so much! They were perfect for each other. I love how Ledger was obsessed with Auburn from there first meet. There is just something about a man obsessed with women and winning her over!

I loved how we saw Auburn struggle with finding herself and growing after just basically being a mom for 18 years. We see he grow and really become a stronger person. Ledger never thought he would want a woman the way he did with Auburn, the way he showed her could put her first be there for her. I just loved the way we saw Auburn and ledger grow.

a pucking good read
Vee Taylor really had me on a rollercoaster of emotions. I had tears coming from my eyes and my thıghs thanks to her heartbreaking scenes and her spicy scenes.
This was a different take on hockey romance and I loved the concept (son’s hockey captain). It was messy, spicy and emotional. Sebastian York and Amy Hall who narrate this story captured that well. Amy Hall had my heart aching when she performed THE flash back scene and when she performed the scenes between the FMC and her mother. Sebastian is the perfect voice for a grumpy character and that was definitely this MMC.
I did give this 4 stars because I felt like the chemistry between the characters could have had more depth. But overall, I really enjoyed the message of this book. Trauma is not easy to overcome. It impacts everyone differently and finding the right people to have in your corner can make such a great difference in the healing process. (Those people do not have to be your bløod relative.) Vee, Sebastian and Amy did a fantastic job at portraying that with this story.

I’m here for every second of it. This book has it all! The subjects Vee tackles in this book are not light. From hard on the heart coming of age moments in parenting, to all things parenting, to “what’s next” moments, there is something in here (or lots of somethings) for everyone to relate to.

Ledger is the broody Ravens captain heading into what he knows will be his last season due to age and an injury, and he is NOT happy to be tasked with “babysitting” the newest - youngest - teammate. Ledger just wants to be left alone to do his own thing and get this season over with. He has no clue what the future holds after retirement and the thought makes his twitch. Auburn is desperate to make sure her son, Austin, has everything he could possibly need to succeed as the youngest recruited NHL player, even though it means putting herself on the back burner. A teenage mom with a very traumatic past she’s battling all sorts of internal demons and doing the best she can. Watching her son grow up and become his own person is all she wants, while struggling to feel worthy of anything special for herself, and so much more.

The way he calms Auburn, listens, pursues, supports, encourages… BE.STILL.MY.HEART, and how he shares his favorites… YES PLEASE! Auburn, what I wouldn’t do to reach into these pages and just hug her. Hold her so tight and never let her go. She is such a strong FMC who faces battles, that if we are all honest with each other, in one way or another each of us females face. She is so worth it, and so are you! The family & support this team provides each other and their newest member is truly incredible. There are so many beautiful parts that stuck out to me as a mother, a woman, as a reader… seriously so good! I don’t want to spoil them for you.
This is book 1 in the Ravens Hockey series. You catch a glimpse of what book 2 will also be about and I have to say I am sooooo excited with who it’s about. 3.75⭐️ This was my first Vee Taylor book and it won’t be my last!
This is a single mom romance where she falls for her son’s captain and it was so addictive! I could not put this audiobook down I just wanted to keep listening. I received a review copy of Your Pucking Mom.
I enjoyed the story. A single mom who gives her life for her son to chase his dreams and become a professional NHL player. Auburn was a teenage mom when she had her son and her mother helped her raise him but was narcissistic. She treated Auburn as though she was a burden and was incapable of raising her son. Auburn did everything she could to remove herself and make a new life for herself.
She meets the captain of her son’s team, Ledger and it was almost instant love for him. But Auburns self worth and self confidence made it difficult for auburn to trust the relationship. Also, Ledgers relationship to her son’s new team. But these two could not stay away from each other.
I feel like the book was good but it could have been fantastic. I almost feel as though the story was rushed at some points. I’ve read other Vee books and I just don’t think this one’s writing style compared. I really did love the themes of the book and the topics discussed. I loved how it was a good look into the familial dynamics and how the long lasting impacts can be on a loved one when someone is living with a narcissist
I do love how Ledger really did what he could to reinforce Auburns self worth.
It was a good story that sucked me in and made me want to keep reading. I just felt as though the writing was a bit rushed but great story with wonderful themes.
I enjoyed the story. A single mom who gives her life for her son to chase his dreams and become a professional NHL player. Auburn was a teenage mom when she had her son and her mother helped her raise him but was narcissistic. She treated Auburn as though she was a burden and was incapable of raising her son. Auburn did everything she could to remove herself and make a new life for herself.
She meets the captain of her son’s team, Ledger and it was almost instant love for him. But Auburns self worth and self confidence made it difficult for auburn to trust the relationship. Also, Ledgers relationship to her son’s new team. But these two could not stay away from each other.
I feel like the book was good but it could have been fantastic. I almost feel as though the story was rushed at some points. I’ve read other Vee books and I just don’t think this one’s writing style compared. I really did love the themes of the book and the topics discussed. I loved how it was a good look into the familial dynamics and how the long lasting impacts can be on a loved one when someone is living with a narcissist
I do love how Ledger really did what he could to reinforce Auburns self worth.
It was a good story that sucked me in and made me want to keep reading. I just felt as though the writing was a bit rushed but great story with wonderful themes.

At the beginning the author goes into great detail as to the fact everyone experiences trauma and the after math differently. You really need to keep that thought in mind when reading this story. The way the MFC deals with her everyday life in regard to being triggered by her past trauma might not be how everyone would respond, but it's her own unique experience.
As a mom, I felt a connection to Auburn and how she gave up parts of herself and dove straight into being a great mom. We tend to forget about our own wants and needs and focus on our children. Her chance encounter with the hotshot hockey captain, Ledger, makes her realize she wants and deserves more for herself. Ledger is incredibly patient with Auburn and her sensitive mind, and it makes him the ultimate partner. Forget the fact they should stay away from each other since her son is the new rookie on Ledger's team (like I said, mom is choosing her happiness for once!).
Overall, it was a great story that dealt with some real-life trauma but also gave you the great spice and love we all desire!

Emotional and Gripping
This was such a rollercoaster of emotions from start to finish!
Ledger and Auburn's story is not simple but is filled with determination and complete and total commitment.
I like the new trope of teammates mom and thought that it was a fun new take in hockey romance.

This was a decent read, following Auburn's rough story of becoming a teen mom and struggling with a narcissist parent. When her son gets drafted to the NHL and gets into trouble, she is shocked to find his captain and mentor is the one man she had started to fall for. After constantly pushing him away, she realized that Ledger was the happiness she deserved.
This book is rather heavy, but seeing Poor Auburn's journey to find herself was the sweetest ending.
