What readers are
"I could not put it down!! She really knocked this one out of the park!!!"
"I didn't know what was happening and was mystified for awhile. This is my new favorite"
"Loved it....I was trying hard to figure it out."
"For real though I LOVED how it all came together at the end. It could not have thrilled my soul more when it all played out so perfectly."
Ugh. This book had so many inconsistencies and grammar/misspellings. The storyline has so much potential but I can't get past all the errors.
Examples: 1. pg 69 Cooper sits at the table with two mugs of steaming black coffee .... the next page we find out Xander added cream and sugar to it.... so, not so black then?
2. pg 75 there are no screens on the bedroom window so it's easy to sneak out, however, on pg 134 Cooper makes Lilah exit through the front door so she doesn't have to "move the fan and pop the screen back in" on her bedroom window.
3. pg 76 Lilah empties the contents of the purple bag on the ground: two flashlights, a pack of gum, a bag of marble and two bracelets made out of beads. Three sentences later, Cooper grabs the pocket knife off the ground. (where the f did the pocket knife come from??).
Someone else mentioned the proofreader took off the last quarter of the book...I definitely agree. The spelling and grammar problems were most pronounced toward the end of the book and several instances of POV switching from 1st to 3rd.
If you are someone, like me, who loves a book that makes your brain all twisted and you feel crazy, you have found the right book. The multiple timeline helps with telling the story, giving you doubts about what's real and imagined. Don't worry it's easy to keep the timelines straight. Krissy Webb does a fabulous job intertwining the paths leading up to the big reveal. Believe me your jaw is going to drop multiple times during the whole story.
You learn a lot about Cooper, the female main character, present day and her past. She has a lot on her plate. Her past has been shoved back into a box and locked away. She forced to confront her traumas. Cooper is strong and smart, although she has many doubts within herself.
I loved the way this how plot had me questioning everything. It had my mind spinning. The book dig into my head and I couldn't put it down. The way Krissy puts the pieces of the puzzles together carefully laying it out is mind blowing. I'm so shocked about the ending. The whole story is absolutely brilliant!
I will start by saying I do not like giving negative reviews but in this case I could not do anything else. I have read other books from this author which I have enjoyed but this one fell short of the mark. This would have to be one of the most confusing and frustrating books I have read in a long while and I found it was like pulling teeth. I saw other reviewers say that you had to stick with it and just get past the 50% mark but I found even after that I was still completely struggling. The back and forth time lines and only accentuated my pain and even though you find it all does come together at the end, to me my time would have been better spent on something else.
The grammar wasn’t great in this one. Toward the end it felt like they stopped proofreading, and it even switched from first person to third. The inconsistency threw me off - I kept flipping back thinking I’d misread something earlier. This had potential to be so much more, but just fell flat at the end.
I don’t mind a few grammar errors—but this book was riddled with them. Incorrect POV shifts, commas, quotation marks. The timeline didn’t always match the plot. This book definitely needs a few more edits.
I really wanted to like this book - and for what it’s worth, i did devour it in a couple of days… but the inconsistencies were extremely hard to follow. The timelines didn’t match up, the switching of scenes to a flashback mid sentence without any indication had me backpedaling sentences quite a few times to figure out what i missed. POV changes throughout the book, sometimes mid paragraph. The storyline had so much potential but sadly poor writing made it fall short.
Interesting plot. In a strange way, and in a way that doesn’t matter or make any difference in either book, this book ties into The Last Night I Knew You by the same author.
I’m usually not one to complain about typos or minor errors—if the story is good, they rarely bother me. In this case, though, the mistakes became genuinely confusing. I had to go back and reread several sections, only to realize I wasn’t misunderstanding anything; there were simply errors in the writing. Another reviewer mentioned several specific instances I also noted. POV also switched randomly, sometimes mid-paragraph.
One particularly strange oversight really pulled me out of the story. Chapter 13. In the 1989 timeline the characters in the book discuss Freddie Prinze Jr.s’ good looks in his role in I Know What You Did Last Summer. The main character specifically mentions the actor and the specific movie title. Something along the lines of saying the actor was hot in that movie. Again, this scene takes place in 1989 in the book. The problem is that the movie wasn’t released until 1997. It’s jarring to read about characters referencing a film that wouldn’t exist for another eight years, and it makes me wonder how this slipped past editing.

I didn't love this read, but I didn't hate it. I am realizing more and more that I am NOT a fan of past/present POVs - unless they are written REALLY well and easy to follow... I can't exactly say that for this book. It felt like I was constantly trying to figure out who I was reading about, and how the story all connected.
Overall - the story was there. I enjoyed the plot. It did leave me guessing a lot. Quite honestly, I am still not sure that I know what is true and what is a lie. I think it was a good story - I think a bit more time and structure could have really sealed this read for me.
A lot of people are commenting about the grammar and punctuation mistakes. I don’t want to spoil anything, but I think these were intentional to convey Cooper’s confusion and disorientation as she progresses through the story, as most of the errors were in her POV chapters. I also think the switching from first to third person is intentional and hints at possible mental illness, which is a theme throughout the book. I think I understand the author’s intention with the “mistakes,” but agree that they were distracting (especially the punctuation). Overall, I thought this was a gripping story that kept me guessing. I will definitely read more books by this author.
Yes, the book has some grammatical errors and proof reading issues but overall, it was probably one of the better books I have read in 2025. At times, it was a little confusing and maybe had too many timelines to follow but the plot was suspenseful and I enjoyed it. Just go into it ready for a quick read with some enjoyable twist and turns.
I read this for book club. I really wish I just DNFed it. All over the board, had potential but very predictable. I feel as though it should have been suspenseful but lacked the writing to keep me on the edge of my seat. The writing changed throughout the book and early chapter characters didn’t line up with later chapter characters. All around it was a disaster of a book.
Not what I expected it was all over the place got confused few times about what was going on. Alot of misspelled words. the ending could of been more exciting so I gave it a 4 star but that's my opinion others might enjoy it.
This book had so much potential. Great idea, but the delivery was confusing and disjointed. The typos and shocking grammar were distracting and frustrating. And the ending was abrupt and unsatisfying.
I don't like not finishing a book but I pushed myself to read up to 41% and have up. The book was all over the place. It jumped backwards and forwards and I didn't know who or what I was reading about. Sorry but this just wasn't for me.
This book kept me captured the whole entire read. Usually, I can guess the outcome (twist), however, this book I wasn't sure at all. I did not know what was going on until the end. This was an exciting, great read.
Great plot twist at the end but honestly I skimmed half the book because it was too messy. The timeline kept jumping, which is normally fine but I don’t know if we are in present 1999 or a few days ago 1999 which made it hard to follow.
Wow!! This was so good! The author did a superb job with the details of the story. I was not expecting the twist at the end! I also enjoyed the connection to another book that the author has written
