Whispersmiths: and Other Rumours

Rate this book
It's not a superpower in the classical sense. The shadowy individuals known as the Smiths simply have the knowledge and intuition to predict the butterfly effect, and understand the consequences of every rumour they create. These Whispers, rumours that survive and multiply almost as if they're alive, provide their creators with a secretive and unexpected way to control the leaders of the free world.

I'm not generally a reader of short stories, but I liked the premise of (very) short stories having a common link. That's not to say they interlink: more they share a common idea that whispers - rumours- can have a profound effect on the world. This is not control over one person, but manipulation of people in a butterfly effect way.

I'd love to see these short stories turned into a full-length novel. The world as seen through the eyes of each of the main characters is just tantalisingly out of reach. Perhaps the Owl of Tolerance will grant this wish and make everyone's life a little better!

A collection of three beautifully written short stories. The author's cleverly illustrates how (rumours) whispers affect the lives of the characters and the world they inhabit through intricately woven plots. Both thought provoking and entertaining. This world of whisperers would make a great basis for a full length novel. (from my amazon review)
