This book was not for me ...

I really hate writing poor reviews because every book has an author who poured their heart and soul into what they wrote. Sometimes though I don't think it can be helped.

So Andy and her friend pack up all their stuff and head off to college. However, Andy and her best friend are both lying to their parents about where they're living exactly … The was my first red flag. Somehow both 18 year olds manage to convince they're parents that they are living together in dorms off campus. When in reality they're not living in dorms at all because they are too expensive and they aren't even living with each other. They're both living with two random guys. …. Now I've lived in on campus housing, it is clearly stated on your bill 'housing" with an obscene amount of money next to the price tag. Keep in mind Andy's mom is crazy overprotective and wants to know everything about her daughter so how she looked over that one I don't know. Not to mention, your starting college for the very first time, living on your own and neither set of parents wants to drop their daughters off? I was lucky my mom didnt try to move in with me! Once again Andy's mom is crazy protective but not enough to take her daughter to college or check out where she's living …

Moving on … So both girls move into their respective homes (not with each other) and Andy is immediately harassed and basically sexually assaulted by her new roommate Hunter, but even better her best friend just so happens to be rooming with Hunter's brother Seb … this city must be super small. After Hunter makes every sexual reference known to mankind he then wants Andy to pretend to like his brother to get close to him, but Andys friend likes him too so that might be a little weird.

Oh and both girls break dance too! So the meat the leader of the dance crew at school who invites them to a party. So they go and here's where things get really farfetched. Andy is minding her own business when someone comes and tries to make out with her (okay okay relatable) but then this random dude takes it a step further and tries to rape her … in the middle of the party when she's rescued by Hunter … The incident is that bad that the police are called. The party must go on tho … Somehow Andy ends up alone with Seb who decides that hey you almost just got raped let's make out and Andy being Andy goes along with it … But when the leader of the break dancers comes over and states that everyones going upstairs to play and kid you not SPIN THE BOTTLE ( Okay I'm 22 I've been to college, I've been to more than enough parties to last a lifetime and Not Once has anyone busted out Spin the Bottle) LIke whatttttttt ? I 'd think I've played that since 7th grade …. Thankfully she declines that offer because almost getting raped doesn't put you in the mood to make out with multiple people just your roommates brother who your best friend also likes. Did I mention that the police still haven't come? It takes them over an hour to show up ….

The book just gets weirder from there, Hunter and Seb are in a gang run by their father but the only way out is death and they both want out. There's like these sacred knives or guns I can't remember that their father game them so no one will kill them? I don't know then Andy and her best fiend end up hiding under her bed while henchmen intimate and beat up Hunter one day.

No worries tho people Andy continues to live with him anyway ..

This book was just too out there for me, and I was not a fan of Andy at all .

The story line gets a 4/5.
The grammar gets 1/5.

If you are able to look pasts the grammar errors then it is a lovely book that I thoroughly enjoyed. However, if you are someone who when there is a grammatical or spelling error it rips you from the world then you will not enjoy this book.

There is an insane amount of use of the action of smirking and it does get annoying, but I was still able to deal with it.

I originally read the Wattpad version and I did enjoy it. I didn't love how in the published version the author removed the two other boys from the dance crew and the small love story that the one had, however it did work fine, I just enjoyed those side characters.
As well as Andy and Kenzi joining a dance crew that only has two people doesn't make sense where as when it was four people in the Wattpad version that made a lot more sense.

Overall I did enjoy the book. I do think that if you can look pasted the smirking and grammatical or spelling errors then it could be worth a read.

Well, I'm bored. Jaw-cracking-yawn kind of bored. I really struggled to read this book, it was written as though it were RP as opposed to a novel and having every little movement described rather than how Andy felt and then brushing over the 'break dancing' scenes...it just wasn't good. There was no engagement between the reader and the characters. The story in the whole has been done before, and sure, the author tried to add some new elements but they ended up only making it feel like she was trying too hard.
Now, lets move onto personal space and 'my body's nobody's body but mine' side of things shall we? Even in the first couple of chapters, the party scene included, Andrea had been kissed many times by several guys that she hadn't given the green light too, she'd had Hunter walk into her bedroom uninvited and grabbed her, seen him making out with another chick, continued to suck face with him at home, been sexually assaulted and then kissed by Hunter's brother, Seb. Seriously. WTF?!?! Have none of the males in this book ever heard of sexual harrasment? Not to mention, where the frick is Andrea's self-respect? At least they called the cops at the party, right? Ummm...did noone, including the author think about the fact that Hunter had belted the crap out of the guy and would likely be facing charges too?
I'm going to have to stop myself here, otherwise this rant could turn into a full on soapbox moment about women's rights and that there is a SERIOUS difference between an alpha male and a slime ball that takes what he wants when he wants without boundaries.
To summarise, this book had no depth, the characters weren't very smart, the writing was not up to par and the story lacked anything believeable or new. I did however give it 2 stars. That was more for me than anything, because I actually made it through and read the whole thing.

Thanks to Netgalley for a copy of this book in return for an honest review!

I just don't understand how a book with such serious grammatical errors, typos and formatting problems is being published.

Even if we don't talk about the cringey dialogue, unbelievable relationships and surreal plot line, there is one massive flaw in this novel, which is that you are dragged out of the narrative time and time again because of the poor grammar. This author seemed to have no understanding of what a clause is, and how to punctuate one. There were comma splices everywhere, but no commas where you needed one. A lot of the sentences were run-on - it was a book written how someone would speak, instead of how you should write.

I understand that I received an ARC, and that they aren't always the final version before publishing, but for this novel to be corrected almost all of it would have to be changed.

The reason I've given it two stars, instead of one, is that if you tried your hardest to ignore the issues with the writing, it was quite an engaging novel. The plot was reasonably fast-paced, and even though I thought the beginning of the relationship for the two main characters was really weird and unrealistic, I did like what their relationship involved into.

Overall, though, this novel needs a lot of cleaning up.

DNF - I really wanted to stop reading after 10% of the book but decided that I needed to give it a bit longer and read to 20%. A lot of very unrealistic things happened in this book. The main character moves out of her home to go to school and has 1 suitcase of things. She walks into the apartment that she is going to share with a guy she has obviously never communicated with because he did not know that she was a girl. He proceeds to kiss her and even though he acts like a conceited ass she seems to miss him when he is not around. They go to a party where she is almost sexually assaulted but her roommate saves her then proceeds to ask her to pretend that she is with his brother without a reason. He kisses her so of course she'll do it. I just couldn't read anymore.

I loved the original version of this story when it was on Wattpad, and I read it so many times. This version, however, could use some major editing and it also suffers from trying to condense the original story.

There were so many grammar and continuity errors throughout the book. For example, Andy talks about her cousin Nigel, but then her dad refers to Nigel as his brother. There’s also many times where Andy or Hunter will explain something to the other, and then a couple chapters later they’ll re-explain the same thing differently. The writing style is also really simple, so it’s easy to read, but the errors make it more of a challenge.

The characters suffered so much in this book. Andy was annoying and dumb, but I remember her being witty and silly and loyal in the original. She didn’t really have any of those qualities here, and she felt very one-dimensional. Hunter was a stereotypical “bad boy” character and not even a very good one. He talks about how dangerous he is, but we don’t really see much of the action with the gangs. The side characters are so flat they don’t really do much to the story in any way.

The relationship between Hunter and Andy is reduced to a one note kind of thing. Their banter isn’t fantastic, and it often feels ridiculous and forced. There are hints of the pranks and silly little bets they pull with each other in the original, but they aren’t really explored or developed here. It leaves something to be desired for their relationship. The whole “beg for it” thing is reduced to a couple of side mentions, and honestly there wasn’t even any tension between the characters. There isn’t really a romance at all because there’s a lack of character development and the pacing is too fast.

The story moves way too quickly for the amount of development of any kind that is in this book. The characters stay the same, the plot is never fully explored or explained, and everything is made to seem like it’s tense and high stakes but never actually achieves that feeling while you’re reading.

I read the wattpad version of this story, which is far different from the published version. I already know this, so don't go attacking me.
In the beginning of the story I felt like it was moving far too fast. The story had barely even gotten moving when there was a huge make out scene, which, if you're going to have one, at least wait until we really get to know that characters.

However, as the story really started to fold out, I did find that she began to take things slower, and my applause to that. I found the story quite interesting(with the gangs and everything), and enjoyed Hunter. I mean, come on. He's hot!

Anyway, enough with my girlish ways.
The ending left me a little confused, although I was also reading another wattpad story around the same time, so maybe that had something to do with it. Once again, I did only read the wattpad version, so I have no idea how different it is from the published book.

I saw this read on Wattpad and decided to give it a go. On chapter 2, I nearly wanted to stop.
The book is super unrealistic, cingy, and very cliche. I mean, this happens in every book-
"What? You're a girl? But your acccount name is Andy! And you look like a good girl, so..."
Like stop! Who doesn't do a little bit of reasearch on their new roommate to even check if it's a boy or girl? Also, she says her mom is very overprotective, but her mom lets her go to the club to dance and doesn't even go to make sure her daughter is really staying in a dorm with her bestfriend.

I'm going to continue the novel (I'm only on chapter 2) just to see if it gets better. However, I recommend to steer clear of this cringy and very boring book.

I liked the Andy Hunter relationship. However there is a bit of immaturity in the writing style. That was kind of hard to read at times. I did laugh along side Andy and Hunter which was my fav part. Not a great story though.

I read this book on Wattpad roughly 5 years ago before it was published and had quite enjoyed it. When I found out it was published I thought I should give it a go, just to see how I felt and to give credit it the author. Unfortunately, I didn’t find this book quite as enjoyable as I had previously, but strangely I remembered every single thing that happened so that might have hampered my enjoyment. Personally I would say try a sampler or a chapter and if that jibes with you, read it, if it doesn’t, give it a miss.

This book is just as good as I remember from wattpad. The details the author used to describe a scene or character is amazing. Highly recommend this book to anyone.

I really enjoyed this book from debut author Katie hart. It was set in Sheffield in the U.K. Which is only one town over from me so I loved seeing that. However the americanisms that riddled this book bothered me. The book is set in England more precisely South Yorkshire, we don't use terms like 'jerk' we'd say 'tosser or wanker' we wouldn't say asshole we'd say arsehole...etc. those americanisms really put me off. The rest of the book was brilliant and original I loved the story and holy fuck hunter and Sebastian are hot! Seriously Kate if you know the men that inspired this and they're from Sheffield feel free to send them my way Andy is a naive young girl and has lived a relatively sheltered life, Hunter spots that the minute she walks in the door. Hunter is a bad boy... As bad as they come really he's in a gang .. Like a proper kill or be killed kind of Gang. He accidentally drags Andy into all of his shit and falls for her in the process. Their banter was hilarious and had me literally shaking my head at how funny the comments were. I loved it but due to the americanisms in a very English town I have to rate it 4 stars instead of the 5 I think it would be if they weren't in it.

The Good Girl's Guide To Bad Boys is the first book I've read of Katie Hart's. As with most New Adult fiction now, you find most stories have the same kind of recipe and its hard to 'break the mould' and be original. I was hoping from the synopsis that with the dancing aspects this book would be different, but I'm afraid it really wasn't.

This isn't a bad book at all, it was enjoyable, a quick read and I read this in 2 sittings. I didn't really love Andrea as a character, at times she annoyed me a little. Hunter was slightly more my preference, but as with all books not all characters are for everyone.

The plot of the story has good pace and should keep most readers engaged. I just wasn't blown away and was looking for something more original. At times this story really was that of fiction and was unrealistic etc, but I don't think many of us sit down to read reality, after all a book is somewhere to escape is it not.

I gave The Good Girl's Guide To Bad Boys 3 stars, I just wanted more. I'm sure there are a lot of readers who will love this story.

Cute Story!!!

There wasn't much break dancing in this book - but it was fun to read about

Andy was on her own in her new life after leaving her mom for the first time.
When she finally got to her new flat, her new roommate wasn't expecting a girl.

Hunter was a hot, but scary guy, but Andy knows how to defend herself... verbally.
She's quick with her thinking and tells Hunter exactly what she thinks of him.

Hunter's life is anything but glamorous - he is the son of the leader of a huge gang with a lot of pressures. But Hunter doesn't want to follow in his dad's footsteps, he doesn't want anything to do with the life of crime. But getting out is harder than it should be. His life is on the line. And with Andy right there next to him, her life becomes in danger as well.

These guys are really cute together - Hunter doesn't seem like the type of guy that cares for someone else, but the way he and Andy go at it with their arguments, it really starts to stir up feelings. And with their little bets on the side, it's downright comical

Really enjoyed reading this one :)

I had high hopes for this book. I had initially enjoyed it on wattpad and expected the same from this one but unfortunately I struggled finishing it. I read the story the first day it went online. I have held back from posting my review because I have read other stories from this author and really love them, but this one just missed the mark for me.

1.) I have it on my kindle and saw a few obvious mistakes.
Ex: "Hunter walked forwards, glancing over her shoulder at his brother." (The story is in first person so this line confused me. Is she referring to Hunter as a "she"....?)

Ex: "Hunter, meet Nigel, my brother,’ my dad introduced..." (Andy constantly referred to Nigel as her cousin. Isn't he her uncle If he is her dad's brother?)

2.) The secondary characters had absolutely no depth to them and it led me to not care for them. I understand that the story needed to be edited down and some scenes changed for publishing, but I think that the story just fell a bit flat for me.

Just as a side note: I still definitely recommend her wattpad novels! I think that since they are all her and not changed, they have the magic and hilarity this one was missing. :/

This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.

Andrea has no problem telling Hunter what her issues are with him, "first, I found a gun. That was...shocking but believable. Then, I found you and some goo with some pot, which was annoying. Now I'm finding half-naked girls in the kitchen!" I said in an exasperated tone and he chuckled, walking closer to me so that he was standing flush in front of me." I mean really that girl knows how to run her mouth when she has an issue, "you know, I might as well just walk around in my underwear, you always seem to catch me like this!" I exclaimed, frowning at him." I mean these two characters have chemistry and are into each other and feel something for each other but they won't make a move, "if something happens to me, I just want you to know..." I trailed off and he began to look remarkably uncomfortable. "That I love the elm wood coffins, can you get one for me?" I enjoyed this book with all it's twists and turns.

DNF at 19%.

Good grief. Do you ever open a book and know right from the first page that it's going to be bad? That was this book for me. The writing was seriously terrible. How many times can people smirk in one little book? After the 22nd smirk in 44 pages, I decided to check. My Kobo said 100+ smirks were found in this book. I might be able to overlook this if the characters were in any way redeeming, but they were awful, too! Hunter is just gross! He forces himself on Andy numerous times, and she even goes so far as to bite his tongue and kick him in the shins, and he still doesn't get it. Is that supposed to be attractive? Then there's the poorly developed plot. I just...I can't even bother to explain how stupid it all is. Just take my word for it, learn from my mistake, and don't touch this book. I wish I could say this is one of those cases where it's not the book's fault, it's just me, but honestly, I could not recommend this to anyone.

*I was given an ARC from Netgalley. All comments are my own.

A rather cute Y/A novel but a bit far fetched really. With the gangster mob run by teenagers, girls moving in with guys they do not know, so you see what I mean?

Andrea, or rather Andy starts University and moves out of her home with her best friend to live closer to their University. They each manage to find a place to live at a great price, just not together. Instead, each with a boy they have not met.

Andy realises on the first day that hot boy Hunter is a player but he on the other hand, regardless of her attempts at hating him, tries his best to seduce her. There's a lot of mobster type thing going on, which makes it a quite fun read.

Overall, it's an entertaining read that seems a little too far fetched in reality.

I both loved and was completely confused by the fact that this book was set in Sheffield, UK. If you took it out of Sheffield and transplanted it to a large US city I think it would have made much more sense. There are a lot of Americanisms in the writing, the rival gangs had a very American feel to them (there probably are gangs in Sheffield but I'm not sure they'd be like the ones in Hart's story), I'm not entirely sure about the whole breakdancing troupe thing, and the whole feel of the book was very US-centric. In fact I couldn't even be sure that the writer had been to Sheffield, because I couldn't get a feel for the city at all. That aside, it was an entertaining read - some good humour in parts - but fairly uninspiring NA stuff. Hart could have made more of the dancing and the location.

Ecco. Ho da dire solo questo.

This book had so much potential but it just fell short. Things moved at a very rapid pace making it hard to connect with the story and the characters. The story itself was a bit cliche and the way the gang fought was a bit simplified and unbelievable.
This was an ARC so I know there was bound to be mistakes but there were so many that it was distracting to the story.
The writing and story wasn't so bad that I couldn't finish it. I just wish that it had been edited better and that I was able to connect better with the characters. I think with a little time I could've really fallen for Hunter.

A 5 Star Rating
Wow what an awesome book. I honestly had no idea what to expect and it definitely blew me out of the water. From start to finish there's so many turns it keeps you on the edge the whole time. Andy and Hunter were amazing characters and their banter kept me laughing the whole way through I absolutely loved their relationship right from the start. The storyline for me was awesome and extremely well written. This is my first read by Katie but I'm definitely looking forward to anything she does in the future.

ARC provided by Carina UK via NetGalley for an honest review.

My first by Katie Hart, and I wasn't disappointed. I can't say that it WOW'd me, but it wasn't bad.
I loved the banter and chemistry between Andrea and Hunter. Katie Hart painted a great picture of two people perfectly opposite yet perfect for each other. There's a lot of mess, with Hunter's activities, put they get thru it. The plot of the story had a good pace and it kept me engaged. I just wasn't blown away and was looking for something more original.
