Saylor Callahan thought they were a joke. A myth someone made up to scare alphas into behaving...until she found herself stolen away and dumped in one.
Feral alphas who spend time in close contact with omega pheromones gain back cognitive functioning pretty quickly, but rabid alphas have to bite a scent matched omega to attain that same clarity.
Some governments and organized crime operations have assets they aren't willing to lose. After all, they can put their mercenaries back to work if they can be brought back from the brink.
As the daughter of a US Senator, Saylor knows she has rights. Too bad the facility doesn't seem to care. When faced with the reality of her situation, she can recognize that she won't be able to escape. Rather than allowing herself to be claimed by just anyone, she makes a deal with the most unhinged inmate she comes across.
Meanwhile, her security team is desperately searching for ways to save her, and they aren't above getting themselves institutionalized for a chance to get her back.
Will they make it in time?
No Escape is written in first person multi-POV. It's set in the same world as Whatever it Takes. They can be read independently of one another or together for a fuller world. No cheating, no choosing, and the men always fall first. This is part one of a duet and will end on a cliffhanger. Part two is complete and will be rapid released one month after part one.
No neurodivergent rep will ever be perfect for every person but I have to thank West for not making it a caricature of what it should be. If you know what someone whoʼs audhd acts like - - - this is me- - - then you will be able to pick out all the underlying behaviors. Please donʼt ever try to make authors have it be so GROSSLY OVER STATED that it becomes a cliché. I beg you. Itʼs the fastest way I will drop an author.
West does neurodivergent rep well! Itʼs there for people who know what they are looking for but not so blatant itʼs mentioned in every scene. We are just normal persons!!!! No need to make us into Sheldon from Big Bang.
I digress.
I have mixed emotions in Leo and Shaw. I need to see how they act in part two before I make any judgment calls. Valor and Omen are great. Saylor is a compelling and well crafted main character.
MRS. WEST IF YOU READ YOUR REVIEWS KEEP DOING YOUR THING. DO NOT COW TO PEOPLE WHO ARENʼT PAYING ATTENTION. THOSE OF US WHO ARE NEURODIVERGENT SEE YOU AND APPRECIATE YOUR WORK TO NORMALIZE FEMALES WITH NEURO SPICY BRAINS.
This was amazing. If you know me you know how much I love Jillian West and everything she writes. This one is absolutely hands down my favorite. I read it cover to cover in just a few hours.
The whole rabid alpha facility?? Phenomenal. It was such an interesting setting that allowed for all of that sweet sweet forced proximity. Heat spikes. In a rabid alpha facility. NEED I SAY MORE?
Out of everyone Omen was my favorite. Man is ✨dedicated✨ to taking care of Saylor in every way and he is ALL about the consent 😌. He's really rough on the outside but he wrestles with the insecurity that once Valor has an omega he will be cast aside. Man just wants to be loved too 😭.
Valor and Saylor were incredible too. Saylor was very take charge even though she was internally freaking the heck out and Valor was all about the protect the omega vibes. I'm here for every bit of it. Oh and that spice be SPICING. Make you blush spice.
This book had everything I love with this author, but within a darker setting, and for me that felt as the cherry on top. I don't have a lot of triggers, so my opinion might be colored by that, but this still felt like a comfortread to me. The protection and dedication the men in Saylor's life show her while dangers surround them is exactly what I love so much about the security firms that feature in these books. And you might say that Valor and Omen have a darker past compared to them, but let's be honest: they all have blood on their hands. It's their moral compass that shows they are great guys anyway, all of them.
For once it isn't that hard to pick out a favorite in Saylor's pack. Omen is my man... Truly, the man has it all. He looks like a bad boy, sounds like a bad boy, but he's the type of man you want for a friend or a lover. His dedication to protect those he loves is admirable, and I adored the way Saylor saw the hurt and insecurity that lies beneath his tough exterior. He might believe he's less because he isn't an alpha, but to me he's definitely my favorite.
For a moment I forgot "No Escape" wasn't a standalone, so around 80% in I suddenly realized I would have to face a cliffhanger at the end... I don't think it was a very bad one, more like the type of cliffhanger that makes me very excited to get my hands on the next book, but opinions might differ on that one. I'm excited to find out what will be next anyway!
3.5 stars 3 peppers Jillian West gravitates toward character driven plots. They'll never be my favorite type of book. I like more angst and action but I keep coming back because she writes the best heroes in omegaverse. There are three or four new omegaverse authors that are doing their best to copy her style and failing miserably if you want this old womans opinion. Those come off as cringy and trite but West manages to write alpha heroes who are still commanding while not being controlling. That being said this was one of my favorite books by her yet. It has some action and danger while staying true to her character driven roots. If I could give the author one piece of advice it would be to push through. Angst isn't bad. Your readers need something to keep them engaged and you've found a solid formula here. Expand on it and you could be one of the top respected authors in omegaverse since it's obvious to a lot of us how some of the newer authors are actively trying to emulate your sweet style and brand. Leave that to them and branch out!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Goddamn. That is my first thought finishing this book. I love a good morally grey MMC but there’s just something about the ones Jillian writes. They’re just extra delicious. They’re the perfect combination of serious, funny, and murdery. And that ending? I knew it was getting close but I was not prepared. Saylor may be one of my favorite FMCs Jillian has written. Even after getting thrown into one of the worst situations a person can go through she knows what she wants and she’s sticking to it. Can’t wait for part 2
4.6 stars. Yeah. That cliffhanger was just another reminder of why I Always wait for a series to be completed before starting it. Brutally high stakes cutoff. Hopefully the ending is equally as satisfying..
I enjoyed this one. I can always count on Jillian West to deliver a great omegaverse. OMG, that cliffhanger is brutal. I can’t wait for the next book. I’m anxious to see how these guys all work together to get out of this prison and keep Saylor safe.
i am so use to Jillian West’s sweet omegaverse but i ate this book up! this doesn’t lose the way Jillian writes OV, but her writing something a little bit darker, i am loving 🖤 and she also does a great job of listing out CWs to help prepare readers.
i’ve said it before and i’ll say it again, i love a sassy beta with a mouth that can rival any alpha. and that is Omen all the way. and Saylor makes sure he knows that he isn’t a consolation prize or is only wanted because he is bonded to Valor. She wants him for him.
Shaw and Leo better do some major groveling in the next book to make up their actions to Saylor. and they better now take Saylor away from Valor and Omen.
and i know why the author made this into a duet, but i still need the next book NOW. there’s so much up in the air with the cliffhanger, but also finding out more of how Saylor ended up in the facility. and also what happens when they all do end up getting out.
i can’t wait how Saylor brings them all together as her pack. she deserves to have a family/pack that wants to spend time with.
Saylor, the omega. cherry limeade scent Valor, rapid/feral alpha forced into the facility and Saylor’s soul match Omen, Valor’s bonded beta. no romantic or sexual relationship between them (and his government name is Omen) Shaw, Saylor’s former alpha bodyguard and scent match. smoky campfire scent Leo, Saylor’s other former alpha bodyguard and scent match. cedar and pine scent
MFMMM, 1st person multi POV, 20/21 yo fmc forced proximity, morally gray men, heat spikes, DVP, ADHD and autism rep, bodyguards, cliffhanger
I absolutely love a rabid alpha and my goodness add a sarcastic beta who just needs someone to see him for how incredible he is!!! Wow wow wow . These characters are incredible and I am so excited to read more of them.
ARC Review ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ I’ll simply follow her around, fucking her brains out. I’ll also spend some time silently murdering anyone who could cause her harm, but I’ll make sure I get there long before they get the chance to ruin her happy little bubble.
I. LOVE. OMEN. SO. DAMN. MUCH!!
It’s no secret that betas are always my favorite in omegaverses - but the way Jillian wrote this one, the beautiful, wonderful, sexy, and murderous beta Omen, has made him my instant favorite. Sorry, Saint (Ruined Records), the crown has been passed on. Omen is a very worthy successor. His dirty mouth and orgasm magic are too hard to pass up.
Oh yeah, there were some other males there too… I also adore Valor, the giant rabid alpha who thinks his world is too dark to trap Saylor with a mating bite. Sweet and protective, and also stabby. He and Omen are the perfect dynamic duo.
Fast burn. Fast paced. Super spicy!
This one ends on a cliffhanger, but the next book is already written, and it will be a quick turnaround to get to the HEA.
All omegaverse lovers need to grab this book!
Thanks to Jillian West for the advanced copy for review.
This story is just… meh. I’ve mostly been skimming through it, shaking my head. I like the concept—it had potential—but it turned out differently than I expected. I’ve started to notice a pattern with Jillian West’s work, especially in her Omegaverse stories. She tends to introduce angst, but then resolves it way too quickly and easily. It leaves a lot to be desired.
For example, instead of the female lead suddenly stumbling across the male leads and immediately receiving help, it could’ve been a perfect opportunity to showcase her temper or at least build some world depth. Moments like that feel rushed, and it's a missed chance to add layers to the character and setting.
The female lead feels unreliable and all over the place—I just can’t connect with her. And the male leads don’t really make sense to me either. The plot mostly revolves around her going through withdrawals and having sex, which gets repetitive fast.
Jillian West is hit or miss for me, and unfortunately, this one just didn’t hit.
No MM I got a little nervous when I saw Valor and Omen were bonded. It's not a sexual relationship thou. Saylor was such a cutie I wanted to pinch her cheeks. That beta was having feelings he didn't understand and I was here for it 😂
This was a very enjoyable omegaverse. The concept was unique, characters are sweet, and it was smexyyy. I have read some better omegaverse but I do highly recommend this one.
No Escape by Jillian West is the feral omegaverse I’ve been looking for. Don’t get me wrong I love me a sweet doting alpha, but occasionally, I crave an unhinged beast of man that ever politely manhandles the omega. No Escape is different than what we’ve seen from author Jillian West before, but it’s different in the most delicious way possible.
I absolutely loved the FMC Saylor. She might come off, as someone needing to be saved, but boy does she learn to hold her own. And the MMC’s in this one might just be my favorite pack of all time especially a certain nose booping beta. And holy crap you’re going to need a shower after reading this one, because the spice is 🔥. If you’re looking for something that’s a bit edgier and a bit more unhinged definitely give No Escape book 1 in the Mercenaries for Hire duet a try.
But beware No Escape ends on a little cliffy, but not to worry One Way Out is coming June 6, so don’t forget to Preorder.
This was such an interesting & original plot, I’m so happy there is a part two because it gave the perfect amount of length for the characters in this book 1 to create a solid relationship & we get to know them all quite well. Saylor, she’s an omega that ends up in a rabid alphas facility. She handled so good her situation considering, well, everything lol. I love how she was intelligent and cute at the same time. I was cheering for her the whole time. The pack of our Saylor is so purrrfect! Listen, I’m all for the alphas but the beta was just too iconic aka Omen, gah, he’s so quirky I love him so much. Then we have Valor, the protector who is quite int i midating but is such a sweetheart. What Saylor wasn’t expecting were her ex-bodyguards, Leo and Shaw who in very curious about and they are sort of adorable in their own way. This is such a fantastic omegaverse! I loved it so much!
Creative plot for an OV, but the FMC is insufferable imo. I liked her at the beginning when she was more resourceful, and I understand she's neurodivergent, but she swings back and forth between competent and incompetent that I found her really hard to root for. Also, there was OM drama at the end as she's torn between two sets of men who want to protect her, and I guess OM drama just isn't for me. Lastly, I think it's a real disservice to the book that the FMC and her two MMC features are stuck in a cell block together for the majority of the book. I wanted to know more about the facility! The other omegas, especially Maggie!
If Jillian writes it, I am going to read it. She is the absolute GOAT when it comes to OV and this is just another perfect example.
I dont care that she ended on a cliffie, I was hooked from the first chapter. I love the characters, the premise of the book, and every delicious moment. All the stars
Format: 🎧 Audiobook 🎧 (ALC) Performed by: Brooke Daniels and Gregory Salinas Style: duet Production: Podium Entertainment
Holy cliffhangers, Batman.
No, seriously, that was amazing and I'm praying it won't be too long for book two to make it to audio because I loved every single minute of that!
West has created an OV world with a story that absolutely had me hooked, not only wanting to know more about the world, but the reasoning behind the rabid Alphas. Then throw in the characters and it just makes you want MORE.
What hooks me to this one is the ND rep. Now, goes without saying, no two neurodivergent people will have the same experiences, feelings etc. But West hit the nail on the head with the representation with Saylor in this one. It was wonderfully written, and I definitely saw a lot of myself in the writing and the characterisation.
I love Saylor. Her strength, and her ability to try and hide her true feelings behind a mask of near confidence is amazing, and I love that she was trying to make the best out of an awful situation.
I am so curious to know more about both Valor and Omen. I loved both these characters so much, and I also love their own not-relationship - the backstory to them is amazing, and I cannot wait to learn more about them. There's more to be uncovered with them, I know, and I can't wait to find out what it is.
Shaw and Leo - I enjoyed the connection to Saylor's past, but I feel there's a lot more to them that we haven't uncovered yet. Definitely keen for part two of the duet to see how their relationship with Saylor will continue to unfold.
The spice? Yes, I have to specifically mention this because holy crap, it was absolute fire! The tension, the chemistry and the way the men focus on Saylor is just *fans self*.
The performances are absolutely phenomenal. Daniels as Saylor is perfectly cast, - her ability to portray Saylor's emotions, the softness and undercurrent of fear you can just hear in her voice when needed, but that absolute strength when needed? Phenomenal. Salinas - I genuinely have no words to describe his performance. His accent work is IMPECCABLE - being able to switch from Omen's Irish brogue to Valor's Scottish lilt, then throw in the American and British tones - gah, loved it! This was my first introduction to him as a narrator, and with this performance, I am SOLD on anything else he narrates down the track. Daniels and Salinas bring the chemistry, the tension and the emotions of West's writing to life in a true performance.
So keen for part two of the duet!
Thank you to the author and Podium for the ALC opportunity. These are my honest thoughts that I have provided voluntarily.
If you love Omegaverse, Jillian West is like the special chocolate you save to eat by yourself, late at night. Rich, comforting, indulgent and delicious. This book was no different - solid omegaverse read with all the hallmark of characteristics, tropes (heat, knotting, scent matches etc). Please be warned - it does end on a very strenuous cliffhanger, but the second book is due May 29th, so I don't have put up with this torture for too long.
I loved the MCs.
Jillian writes some very diverse alphas - but I think she's outdone herself here. So we chance upon Valor and Omen in the prison facility for rabid alphas. They bonded to each other but not in a relationship; it's a novel concept of bonding each other because they care for each other as people and brothers - and so want to stay connected. Omen was especially interesting because he's got all these hang ups of being a beta, considering himself inferior to alphas - but he's a stand up character with so much loyalty and love to give. Not to mention self-sacrificing for all the people he loves. He's an intriguing one and I'm looking forward to reading more about him. The other 2 alphas - Shaw and Leo - early days, they seem like stand up guys but they've just entered the scene so the night is young.
Jillian West delivering on sweet OMV once again. I love this world, and this specific setting within that world has made things so interesting. Starting the next book NOW.

"My body tingles as my mind helpfully reminds me how attracted I am to his scent. It’s an indescribable smell that almost reminds me of lightning or electricity."
Me screaming every time the soul matches in this world reveal themselves. 🥹😭😭😭

This one was very meh for me, and I skimmed quite a bit toward the middle. The writing for this felt very flat and amateurish. The FMC suffered from TSTL and was a doormat. The author chose to make the FMC neurodivergent, leaning on that heavily halfway through the book. It felt kind of hacked in. The FMC did not manage to portray that neurodivergence most of the time, making it very inconsistent. Overall, not all that well done.
That cliffie was so ruuuuuuuuuude! *cue serious pouty face*
The balance between dark and sweet is perfect here. It's definitely not a dark romance, but it has dark themes. The fellas are not good men, but they're good for Saylor. And Saylor is very easy to like. She's sweet and shy, yet determined and knows what she wants. I wanted to be mad at Leo and Shaw on Saylor's behalf, but they were just doing what they believed was right for her. Omen and Valor took her in and protected her, taking such good care of her needs. They're going to be a great pack once they sock it to the real bad guys.
Have I been missing out on a whole world of Omegaverse books?! It appears so. This was captivating, spicy and such a fun time.
I read this immersively (thank you Podium Entertainment for a ALC copy) and let me just say - the narrators were chef’s kiss. Brooke Daniels and Gregory Salinas really knocked this one out of the park.
I loved this! The neurodivergent rep was great. Saylor seemed realistic without being overdone. Being kidnapped and thrown into a prison for feral alphas would rattle anyone but she held it together!
Book Name/Series: No Escape (Mercenaries for Hire #1) Author: Jillian West Standalone?: No. This is the first book in a duet and ends on a cliffhanger.
3 Stars
My Opinion: I had a couple of issues with this book, but I did still enjoy it. I really liked most of the characters, I liked the writing for the most part, and I’ll definitely be reading the second book in this duet. I also loved that the heroine was neurodivergent, even though I can’t speak to the accuracy of it.
It does have kind of a second chance aspect which I wasn’t crazy about: two of the heroes (Leo and Shaw) used to be a part of the heroines live-in security team, but they left without a single word of an explanation after she presented as an omega because they were attracted to her but they thought she was too young and needed to experience life. While I do get why they left, it was also a dick move in my opinion, and I thought she forgave them far too easily. They do get points for not sleeping with anyone else since they met her though. I also thought that because we only got a couple of flashbacks from when they were her security, the progression of her relationship with them felt very rushed. They also really only appeared at the very end of the book, so I don’t feel like I got a very good feel of their individual personalities, and I therefore had a hard time telling them apart. I assume this will be remedied in the second book though.
I also wished that Saylor, Valor and Omen has spent more time developing an emotional connection rather than focusing so heavily on the physical aspect of their relationship. Don’t get me wrong, I love a smutty romance, but in this case, I felt like the emphasis on the sex overshadowed any meaningful emotional connection they were trying to build. This was exacerbated by the fact that the heroine was coming off suppressants and needed sex a lot, which left very little room for anything else. Again, I’m hoping that the second book will focus more on developing the emotional side of Saylor’s relationship with the men.
Hero 1: 2/5. Leo is an alpha and used to be a part of Saylor’s security team with Shaw. I felt a little indifferent about him. He didn’t really play that big of a part in this book and I couldn’t really tell him apart from Shaw. He was protective of Saylor which I liked, but I still thought he was a dick for quitting her security team without explaining why. Hero 2: 2/5. Shaw is an alpha and used to be a part of Saylor’s security team with Leo. Same issue as with Leo; he only appeared towards the end of the book, so I didn’t really get a feel for him. Again, he was protective of Saylor, but he also left without a word. Hero 3: 4/5. Omen is a beta and used to work as an enforcer for a crime family. He and Valor are bonded but it’s purely platonic. When Valor got sent to the facility, he willingly entered himself to help him find an omega. I really liked Omen, he was loyal and funny, and with Saylor he was attentive and protective. In the beginning I was worried he was only using Saylor to get Valor out of the facility, and that might have been the case at first, but that quickly changed as he spent more time with her. He also had some insecurities about his status as a beta, which I thought really rounded him out well as a character. Hero 4: 5/5. Valor is an alpha and used to work as an enforcer for a crime family with Omen. He and Omen are bonded, but they’re not together romantically. He was going rabid and got sent to a facility for rabid alphas by his boss. I loved him. He was quite withdrawn in the beginning, but he came out of his shell. He was super protective of Saylor, and I also really liked the bond he had with Omen. Heroine: 4/5. Saylor is the daughter of a US Senator so that’s why she needed security. She also had an AuDHD diagnosis which affected her behaviour. While on a trip to Amsterdam she gets kidnapped and taken to a facility for rabid alphas in the hopes that she’ll bond one of them. She seemed like a pretty strong character, and she did her best to roll with the punches. She got a little bit bossy sometimes with the heroes, but she also had vulnerable moments where she struggled. I did find her a little inconsistent at times and I don’t know if that was intentional or not.
POV: 1st person POV (Saylor, Leo, Omen, Valor, Shaw).
Fast-paced and well-written, this was a quick and entertaining read. This is more smut than plot, to be honest, but I really appreciated the MMCs' dedication to the FMC and their strong emphasis on the need for consent.
Such a good book and I was so excited about this one! Saylor and her men went through it. That cliffhanger was something else but I can’t wait until the next book!
