Caged in Silk is Episode One of the Dark Kings Mafia BWWM serial. This is not a standalone book — the interracial romance mafia story continues across multiple episodes with cliffhangers, high stakes, and intense obsession.
Never have I ever met a character that was so determined to get themselves killed. Smh. In this episode, Eden got on my last nerve. She was hardheaded and a pita! Dorian has her under his protection for a reason. But Dorian's focus on protecting Eden starts to cause tension between him and his brothers. Questions are raised about his commitment to the business.
I loved everything about this episode. It showed a different side of Dorian. A slightly softer side. But Eden.... Lawd, I was ready to throw my Kindle out the window. I almost wanted Dorian to let Eden go. Tell her sayonara and let the chips fall where they may. But that's just me. Lol. But seriously, by the end of this chapter, I was on the edge of my wheelchair. The drama just went up a notch! Whewwweee Chile, this book has me in a chokehold with a tight grip. On to episode 2!
The blurb clearly stated that this consisted of several episodes that ended in cliffhangers. I couldn't have read the blurb before one clicking it. The only reason I can imagine buying it was because it was a dark mafia, interracial book which are genres that I usually enjoy reading.
Even though this was longer than most novellas I've read, it really read like a short story. Dorian was the enforcer in the family and nothing came before his duties for his family, until the night he met Eden who was the photographer for his family's event. He immediately fell in love. His enemy, Victor, noticed his attraction and targeted her in order to hurt Dorian. Within a couple of days, he took her to his penthouse to protect her. Eden was a strong, independent woman who resented his actions once she found out she was a pawn in a mafia war. Because of this, she resisted her attraction to him but was overcome by the sexual attraction and was determined to escape in spite of knowing the danger she was in. He was so overcome by his attraction to her that he neglected his business causing great injury to his family as well as the men who worked for him. However, he discovered that Eden was targeted for death by Victor and it brought out all of his murderous rage
As interesting as I found the story, I doubt that I'll ever know how their relationship ends because it consists of episodes which end in cliffhangers. I have no idea how many so unless I find them free or really cheap, this is the end for me.
This was a very short sweet get to the point book. I finished in just a few hours. The only reason it wasn’t five stars was because it did seem a bit rushed and I wasn’t able to get a complete picture of the characters or their personalities. But I plan on reading more of the series to find out more about them.
To be left hanging at what was to be the end of a story is aggravating. Just when the plot heightens, BOOM, the end. Eden is plotting her escape. I wanted to see if she succeeded this time. She's so naive that she didn't realize the danger she is in. Kane is trying to keep her alive at the risk that she will never talk to him again. He's delegating his responsibilities to make sure he keeps her protected. I understand the experience she experienced as a child, but she needs to understand the sacrifices Kane is making for her safety.
