The book was good. A solid 3.5 stars. I liked Caroline even if I had a hard time following her motivations or changes in personality sometimes. I'm just chalking that up to her crazy.
I would have liked the team members to be fleshed out a little more. At the end of the book we got updates on them like we knew them. We did not. I also had a hard time keeping Samuel and Sebastian strait in my head. The names were too similar.
I would have liked more info about Ethan. In the first half of the book I didn't even know he existed. Then when he's talking about his dad he kept saying how his dad was training him to be a killer. But I got the impression his dad was a drunk like Caroline's mom, went after her sister for sex and then accidentally killed her. There was no mention of him being anything more until Ethan comes along.
Even with some missing info, overall, the book was entertaining and fun. I don't think I'll be having mincemeat pie anytime soon.
This was such a fun dark romance story!! It was definitely dark, but in the best way possible! It was full of danger, spice, mystery and murder.
I really enjoyed the "why choose" aspect and absolutely adored Samual and Sebastian. Caroline is completely unhinged, and I’m so here for it!! The writing and characters/story really got me hooked once i sat down and started it!
The story gave off strong Haunting Adeline and Butcher & Blackbird vibes, so if that’s your thing, you should definitely check this out. I can't wait to see where the story goes next!!
(Also thanks Luisa for ruining minced meat pies for me 😂🖤)
I promise you won't be disappointed! Just a heads-up since this is a very dark book, make sure to check the trigger warnings before reading. 🖤
Her Quiet Hunt delivers everything you love in a dark romance: slow-burning tension, morally grey characters, and an edge-of-your-seat, emotionally charged plot. The story builds suspense and desire simultaneously, keeping the reader invested in both the danger and the romance. The characters are complex, their motivations murky, and the push-pull dynamics create a deliciously addictive tension.
It’s intense, moody, and emotionally gripping — exactly the kind of story that makes dark romance so compelling. Fans of obsessive, suspenseful, and morally grey romance will devour this one.
This story follows Caroline and Samual. Two lovely intelligent people who look out for and correct the wrong in others in their own unique way. Caroline is an ER Dr. Who patches people up every day. But if the patch up is on some innocent. Caroline takes care of the problem in her own Dexter like way. Samuel on the other hand is paid to take out the trash of society. And he does so quickly and efficiently. These to meet one a other and become infatuated with each other. And like all normal couples do. They stalk each other and plant cameras in each other's homes and keep an eye on each other for a year. Until Caroline is tired of waiting and decides on a meet up for their first date. That date goes on for a few days and turns quickly into lust and the. Love. Psychotic things happen. Bad people get taken care of and friendships get broken. But if you are looking for a great read with a dark side (check your triggers) and lots of spice with a why choose aspect. And some killer vibes. This book is for you.
First of all I want to say thank you to Luisa for sending me the ARC.
This book, I cannot tell you how much I have loved reading this book. And how addictive it has been. I could not put it down. Caroline is definitely not your typical FMC. She is strong and resilient and she knows how to handle assholes. Samuel is book boyfriend goals. And Sebastian. Well Sebastian is Daddy.
The plot is amazing, the twists are unexpected and the story leaves you wanting more… more of the characters, more of the chemistry, just more….
This story was….wow! I loved it. It definitely has some triggers and can be dark for some, but I loved it! I could not put this book down and could not wait to find out where the story would go next! It had spice, darkness, and vigilante justice. If you can handle dark and twisted…this is the book for you!!
This book had me hooked from the start — it’s addictive, emotional, and impossible to put down. The main character is strong and layered, and the relationships are full of tension and chemistry. The twists kept me guessing and the atmosphere gave me chills in the best way. Highly recommend if you want a read that sticks with you!
Her Quiet Hunt is unapologetically dark and emotionally gripping. Caroline Landers is a powerful anti‑heroine in a world where love and violence collide. If you're looking for a romance that drips with danger, moral complexity, and raw emotional energy, this is a fierce and memorable read.
I love every book by the author, and this one is my favourite. It is dark, twisted, and so hot! The spice is unbelievable! It gave me Butch & Blackbird vibes, which I absolutely love. I loved the plot and the characters. And I’m so glad a second book is coming.
WOW! What did I just read? this book was amazing! dark and spicy. I loved the darkness that came with every page I turned. the monsters, the lies, deceit. it was chaotic and calculated. this makes other stalker romances pale in comparison. BRAVO!
I loved how the tables have turned where the FMC is the stalker and gets MMC the false sense of dominance. The storyline is captivating and well written. Spice is top notch.
Her Quiet Hunt is dark, violent, and, at times spicy. This book isn't for the faint of heart and has strong violent themes. Please read the trigger warnings prior to reading. I really enjoyed this book and the main character, Caroline's anti-villian personality, I love having a dark and gritty female character that isn't afraid of her inner psycho. I really enjoyed the hot and cold between Caroline and Samuel and eventually Sebastian and how their relationship gradually builds. While a good story, I do feel that the characters aren't fully built up to their full potential, especially considering how we are quickly introduced to the true villain, without knowing the full history (not naming the character to avoid spoilers). The story does have an abrupt ending, not quite a cliffhanger, but knowing book 2 is coming made me feel better about how it ends, knowing that there will hopefully be closure.
I loved this book, I liked the plot and the plot twists. I like how there is a strong woman lead that can hold by herself and doesn't just listen and fall for everything the man wants. I need a second book, the ending makes me want to read more. I could not stop reading this book!
It was well written and i couldn't stop reading until the end. I love the characters as well continue writing will like to read more. I will probably read it again.
Wow, I picked this book up at a local book event from the look of the cover and the description of the stalker becomes the stalked. BEST DECISION EVER!! This book had my adrenaline going. The FMC, Caroline, is a BOSS B*TCH. I love her darkness. She's the monster the world should be afraid of. The best thing is, she only hunts those who deserve it. Then you have Samuel. Listen, morally grey in every way....The perfect kidnapper and loverboy all in one beautifully wrapped package. But wait...There's more! This Why Choose? beauty gave me Sebastian. Sebastian is my new Columbian book boyfriend. Being that this is Book 1 of the Quiet Hunt series, the author didn't give me all of Sebastian's background, but I'm getting pitch black vibes, just like Caroline. The three of these together, OH MY... I need more. Drool.
Now, about the writing. This book was written beautifully. It has all the elements of a stalker dark romance with my favorite trope of all time, Why Choose? The plot is exceptional and had me glued to the book. That's how I determine how good the plot is. I'm always down for the smut but, if the plot is well written, I won't put the book down. This is one of those books that can easily be read in a day even though it's 323 pages long. The end of the book almost resulted in a hole in the wall. I thought he was dead. I almost lost it. And the cliffhanger... It pissed me off. I really need to get my hands on the second book. Luisa - Hi, I'm you new fan for life, Jennifer XOXO
Her Quiet Hunt by Luisa Perez pulled me in from the very first page. It’s haunting, emotional, and full of tension in all the best ways. Perez has a gift for blending psychological suspense with heart–each chapter felt like peeling back another layer of mystery and emotion. The main character’s quiet strength and determination really stood out to me. Watching her navigate secrets, danger, and her own inner battles made this story impossible to put down. The writing is atmospheric—moody, elegant, and vivid enough that I could practically feel the chill in the air and hear every whispered secret. If you love thrillers with depth, complex characters, and beautifully written prose, this one is a must-read. Her Quiet Hunt isn’t just a story—it’s an experience that lingers long after you close the book. Highly recommended for fans of Tana French, Gillian Flynn, or dark, emotionally charged suspense.
I received an ARC copy and this is my honest review.
This novel is definitely a mash up of Haunting Adeline, Where's Molly & Lights Out but with a twist. Honestly if you love those you will definitely enjoy this one.
The story follows Caroline a woman with many secrets and a stalker or is she indeed the stalker? Samuel thinks he's the chief in charge but is he or is it just a game? Everything changes when the secrets between them start to spill over.
I finished this book in less than a day! I had to continue reading, I couldn’t put it down. Caroline is a total badass and I want to be her! Lol. Samuel? Well, I wouldn’t mind him stalking me too. Sebastian is… well Sebastian. I cannot say more. There were times where I seriously questioned my own sanity, and others where I cursed Luisa Perez. If you are tired if defenceless fmc and like chaos, this book is for you!!
Dark, Addictive, and Utterly Consuming A Masterpiece of Twisted Romance
This book left me absolutely breathless. Romance of The Year isn’t just a love story it’s a descent into obsession, power, and the razor thin line between devotion and destruction. Caroline Landers is one of the most unforgettable heroines I’ve ever read: fierce, unapologetic, and terrifyingly human. She doesn’t wait to be saved she hunts
Fun read with lots of twists. Hoping the version I was sent wasn't the final one, had multiple editing errors and a few plot holes. The why choose part doesn't come into play until much later in the book. I enjoyed reading it but it needs work.
