Frolick

Rate this book
Love. Heartbreak. Bad decisions. Repeat.

Frolick is a messy, hilarious, and painfully relatable journey through the highs and lows of dating, self-discovery, and learning how to survive heartbreak with your dignity (mostly) intact. Sam - a sarcastic, emotionally guarded, but secretly hopeless romantic - takes us through her past relationships, each one leaving its mark in the most unexpected ways.

Sam navigates love with humor, heartbreak, and a whole lot of self-deprecating charm. But this isn’t just a book about relationships, it’s about growing up, finding yourself, and realizing that sometimes, the love story that matters most is the one you write for yourself.

Frolick is for anyone who’s ever fallen in love, fallen on their face, and lived to tell the tale.

Available in Kindle, hardcover, and paperback formats. The digital version is great for late-night binge-reading. The paperback or hardcover is ideal for highlighting, crying on, and dramatically throwing at walls. Choose your adventure.

Jennifer Green-Neff

Jen is a writer, mom, and certified chaos connoisseur. Her debut novel Frolick is a sharp, spicy, and sometimes soul-punching journey through heartbreak, healing, and the art of self-rescue. When she’s not writing or daydreaming up emotionally messy characters, she’s probably baking something indulgent, blasting screamo music, or pretending Bravo TV counts as research.

She lives with her husband and 10-year-old sidekick, two judgmental cats (Remy and Rex), and a doodle named Tucker who thinks he runs the house (he’s not wrong). Art is her therapy, whether she’s sketching, sanding furniture with a vengeance, or rage-painting to heavy metal. If you’ve ever loved the wrong guy, cried in the craft store, or screamed into a throw pillow, her stories are for you.

I loved this book! It made me laugh, it made me cry. It was a wonderful, chaotic story of heartbreak, loss, and ultimately finding love within yourself and for another person. It takes a lot of work to have a relationship with another person, but it takes even more work to have a relationship with yourself. In this story, we follow Sam as she attempts to discover herself and gets lost several times with guys who are not good for her. We see the walls build up as she gets her heart broken time and time again, before she realizes that she needs to change her pattern and love herself first. I read this book in one day because I could not put it down.

Such a great book!

Meet Sam. Sam brings us on a journey of love from her very first kiss. From boys who don’t quite fit the bill to being the heartbreaker and getting your heart broken.. Sam goes through it all and tells us all about it. The book is told from her perspective with a kind of “diary” vibe. Each chapter takes place at a different time in her life with a new boyfriend.

Frolick is more than just your average “rom-com” is a 100% reliable story that details all the ups and downs of dating and falling in love. All the things we go through from unread messages, to mistrust, even down to showing up at the guys house just to see what he’s doing. We’ve all been there at some point.. right? Well at least I have.

I loved going on this journey with Sam. There were so many moments I was cackling out loud but there were also moments where I was tearing up. Frolick was such an incredible experience and one that I will never forget. It’s the book that makes you feel like you’re having a glass on wine with your BFF. Absolutely devoured it and I’m so thankful to the author for sending it to me!

This was a chaotic and fun book. It’s a diary style of writing and I can really appreciate that. So many dating flags of all sorts of colors and just a full on constant rollercoaster ride. I personally loved that each chapter was not numbered, but was a subject matter- this really made each chapter have a climax, a lull and a resolution. What I appreciated was that this book is all raw. The emotion you feel from Sam transcends the ink and meets you where you didn’t know you had trauma buried somewhere.

Jennifer Green-Neff did a wonderful job with keeping Sam’s quick wit and humor throughout this book enough to make me laugh out loud. This book is really for anyone who’s seen red flags and instead of trusting your gut- you’re trusting in the fairytale you’ve always been dreaming of. This book is a 4/5 star read for me and I definitely can’t recommend it enough.

Perfect for fans of romantic comedy, snarky narrators, and stories that leave you laughing one second and emotionally drained (in the best way) the next. Very thankful I was picked on Tik Tok to receive this book, not typically a book I would reach for but I loved every second of it. Thanks Jennifer!

This was a really good debut novel! I laughed, I thought of myself in my 20s. I was mad at Sam and then i understood it. I thought the ending was a little abrupt however. hence why I cant give it the whole half star to 4. This book could easily have gone on another 50 or hundred pages to kind of wrap up the ending. Not so abruptly. Hope to see more!

Love stinks

An amazing story of trying and failing at love. A tad boy obsessed for me, but its her life. They didn't deserve her, but she didn't deserve them either.

I hated the ending. Rude.

This book was the perfect example of how the dating scene and life in general can grow and mold you. It’s funny, relatable, heart warming, souls crushing, all wrapped in a pretty orange package. Think Sex in the City. Each chapter has a new boyfriend and new story, with a song to accompany each one too! I devoured this book so fast. It was a great light, quick read that had me cackling. This is for sure a girl’s book and I loved every second.

Frolick is hands-down the book everyone needs for this summer. From the very first page you experience a voice and tone that feels completely unique - unlike anything I’ve read in this genre, or other genres for that matter, before. It’s packed with incredible wit, laugh-out-loud moments, and a main character, Sam, who is so deeply relatable that it feels like reading the inner monologue of any woman I know.

Sam’s plights, triumphs, awkward run-ins, and deep heartbreaks are described with such authenticity and charm that you can’t help but root for her! The story is a whirlwind of flirtation, infatuation, self-discovery, and emotional gut punches, all wrapped in a plot that’s impossible to put down. And the ending… I gasped. I laughed. And I may have even yelled at the page before proceeding to download the airplane wifi (where I had finished the book) to immediately message the author and demand to know more. No such luck though!

This isn’t just another “rom-com” or “coming-of-age tale” - it’s a total standout. I need the next book immediately! You shouldn’t just walk, you should frolick (see what I did there?) to get this book!

This book!!
Okay, listen—I’m older now, but reading about Sam’s dating experiences brought back so many memories. The way she ignores red flags? Yeah… we’ve all been there. 😂 She makes so many of the same mistakes we’ve made (maybe more than once!), and it was both hilarious and painfully real to watch it unfold. I really loved this book—and that ending? Ugh, I knew it!

I enjoyed following along on the adventures it made me think about when I was a teen. I read to feel emotions through the characters' experiences, but it's rare that I feel them so intensely.

The story layers were peeled back perfectly, the pacing was chefs kiss, she gave me just enough to keep wanting more.

Weirdly Sweet

I ran into the author on insta/threads and honestly vibed. So I applied for the ARC for the upcoming book, and decided to check this out on KU to prepare in case I actually get it.
I completely went into this book blind. I don’t know why I enjoy stream of consciousness style writing so much, but this book was really great in a way I don’t know how to explain. Low stakes but kept the interest up throughout, and I have some absolute bangers for quotes. The absolute no judgement exploration and self awareness present in Sam is refreshing. The art of acknowledging a bad decision and going through with it anyway, I felt in my soul.
Not closed door, but also not really spicy either. This is just a pretty chill, you kinda know what’s going to happen next, kind of read.

Frolick is such a warm, uplifting, and quietly powerful read. It has that gentle, slow-bloom energy that makes you feel like you’re wandering through someone’s heart while they rediscover joy, purpose, and themselves. The writing has this soft, poetic flow, and the author paints emotions in a way that feels both comforting and eye-opening.

What I loved most is how the story celebrates the little things—those moments of spontaneity, courage, and connection that change everything. It’s the kind of book that reminds you to breathe, to feel, and to step back into life with a spark you didn’t realize you’d lost.

Perfect for readers who adore introspective journeys, healing arcs, and books that wrap you in a warm hug. A beautiful, soulful escape.

Not my favorite

As a reader, I feel betrayed. It started off questionable. I wasn't sure where the author was going. Is this a romance? Is it a biography? I was confused but then it got good. I understood Sam, some of her decisions. I remembered being young and completely Smitten with a guy. I remembered justifying red flags. I remember my naivete. Then after all of that I got pushed off the edge of cliff that climbed. All these bad things happened and then when something good happened she gave us the cliff notes and said THE END.

Frolick is a book about dating and self-discover. Sam is a girl who is looking for love and trying to figure out life, even though she’s been heartbroken, lied, and cheated.
The book is not just a romance one but also a book about learning to embrace yourself after heartbreak and loss.
Reading Sam's story will leave you with something to think about.
If you like romantic-comedy books with a bit of sarcasm but a hint of truth, then this book is for you.
Thank you, Jennifer, for sharing your writing with me.

Sam is that friend that you love but she makes horrible life choices.
This book took me on a wild roller coaster! The book was basically Sam's dating life in her 20's. It was just bad choice after bad choice. I'd be reading all these red flags and just want to shake her 🤣
The ending blew my mind! I couldn't believe I was at the end! It's been a while since a book ending has left me just sitting there stunned. I don't know if there will be another book or if we just have to make our assumptions. Either way, I really enjoyed it. 4.5 ⭐️

I finished this is book in 3 hours I believe. I love this story and how Sam is just trying to find herself when it comes to different relationships in her life. I like how this book show everyone that you can’t give up on love and when you find the right person to be with it just open up your heart. I can’t wait to see who she married at the end I hope there is another book in this series so we can see where Sam life go and what event we are going to see next.

This book is like grabbing wine with your funniest, most unfiltered friend who’s been through every dating disaster. I laughed, cringed, and teared up more than once. Sam’s voice is sharp, vulnerable, and SO relatable. I saw myself in so many of these chapters, 10/10 would cry in the car with her again.

I loved the writing style. So easy to read and felt like I was talking to a friend. The main character was a little unlikeable though. And the ending made me want to throw my phone. But overall, interesting and easy read.

You guys… I can’t tell you how entertaining this book was! From the very first page, I was completely drawn into Sam’s dating journey — the ups, the downs, the fails, the successes… all of it!

What made Frolick so unique and fun is that every single chapter features a new boyfriend and relationship. Each one gives us a front-row seat to Sam’s experiences — the laughter, the heartbreak, the awkward moments, and her personal growth along the way. Every new relationship kept me engaged and made me love this book even more.

And when I say there were moments that had me laughing out loud, I mean it! There were parts where I was literally cracking up — it’s been a long time since a book made me laugh like that! 😂

But beyond the humor, there’s something so relatable about Sam’s story. Anyone who’s navigated the wild world of dating will see a little bit of themselves in her journey — the hope, the frustration, the lessons, and those “what am I doing?” moments.

And let’s talk about that ending… Sam marries one of her boyfriends, but we’re left hanging, not knowing who it is!! The suspense absolutely killed me — I’m dying to know which one she chose!

This book was such an easy, feel-good read that I devoured in no time. It’s lighthearted, hilarious, and full of heart. If you’re looking for something fun, real, and completely binge-worthy — add Frolick to your TBR ASAP! 💕

✨ What to Expect:
💘 Sam’s hilarious dating adventures
😂 Laugh-out-loud moments
💍 A mystery husband twist
📚 A relatable, fast-paced rom-com you’ll fly through
