This boks begins where the first one ended.

Instead of going to Hawaii on vacation, Cassidy and Spense fly to Los Angeles for a new case.

Again, don't expect smexy times here! Their relationship is still brand new and they take baby steps. They both have their own issues and they're not easily solved.

That's what I find great in these books: they don't jump each others bones every time they see each other. They take it like I would: slow and sweet! :)

Spence is such a romantic! Such a sweet, sweet guy.

“W-what am I looking at?”
“Your father’s star.”
Her knees threatened to buckle, but Spense locked his arms around her waist, supporting her.
“I adopted that star for your father—for you. I’ve got a certificate with his name and coordinates and everything. So whenever you need to, you can look up and find him.”

The mystery is great! I dare say better than in Judgement. When you find out who the culprit was you'll feel really astonished!

This is one of those rare books, where I also felt sorry for the villain! But when you read it, even with all the evel things the villain did, I'm sure you will feel as I did too! :)

On to the next! :)

Fallen is book two of the Cassidy and Spenser series by Carey Baldwin. Dr Caitlin Cassidy and her partner Special Agent Atticus Spenser were profilers for the FBI and were requested by the LAPD to look into the death of three young ladies and displayed in public spaces. The readers of Carey Baldwin will follow the twist and turns in the LAPD investigation and see how Dr Caitlin Cassidy and Special Agent Atticus Spenser found the killer.

I enjoyed reading Fallen, and I was unable to put the book down. I love the way, Carey Baldwin portrays her characters. Carry Baldwin writing style engages me from the first page with story and the characters. I also like the interaction between all Carey Baldwin characters in Fallen. At times I laugh with the behaviour of Carey Baldwin's characters and other times I cried.

Readers will learn about the role of profilers in law enforcement investigations. Also, Fallen highlights the importance of not ignoring people and make sure everyone is not forgotten. Reading Fallen, it started me thinking about the families of people who have been conflicted of a crime and sentenced to death and later found to be innocent.

I recommend this book

I so loved this book! I read the first in the series and couldn't wait to see where Carey Baldwin would take these characters. Carey came through and in a fantastic way! This is truly a must read! These characters are so strong and compelling and the story is right up there! I really hope that more will be coming soon!

Fallen by Carey Baldwin is a 2015 Witness Impulse publication. I as provided a copy of this book by the publisher and Edelweiss in exchange for an honest review.

This is the second book in the Cassidy and Spencer series, but it can be read as a stand alone. However, to completely understand the dynamic between Caitlin and Spencer, I highly recommend reading the outstanding debut novel in this series- “Judgment.”

Caitlin and Spencer must put their tropical vacation plans on hold, and are off to La La land… Hollywood, California, in order to create a profile of the “Fallen Angel” killer. The LAPD is not all that crazy about a psychologist and the FBI working on their case and it makes for a tense work environment. But, the situation is spiraling out of control rapidly, as more blonde women are found murdered and the clock is ticking...

Once I got the gist of the plot, I pretty much went on auto pilot, since this story seemed like a fairly standard serial killer novel, with a few slick twist thrown in. In fact, I was much more invested in the romance between Caitlin and Spenser. I have already made it clear that I love Spencer, even if he goes “caveman” on occasion. So, I was thrilled to touch base with him again, but was worried Caitlin was going to break his heart.

If you read as many mystery, thriller, or romantic suspense novels as I do, it's easy to pick up on a formula and it's an 'occupational hazard', so to speak, to become jaded, and hard to shock or surprise, plus I am usually pretty good as figuring out who the killer is, even if I don't know the motive. Therefore, I was fairly smug, as I decided early on who the killer might be, so while I was canoodling with Spencer, the murder plot suddenly heated up and I found myself taken completely by surprise and I found the psychology behind the murders was very interesting, and I would have to agree with Caitlin's assessment. It's rare that a story will lull me into complacency like that, only to pull the rug out from under my smug and jaded brain, but I was completely taken unaware by the outcome. So, hats off to the author for giving me a wake up call and proving that not all serial killer tropes are created equally.

I love psychological thrillers because they are more about mind games than bomb explosions and shoot outs. This story has it's fair share of action and Caitlin is often in the wrong place at the wrong time, but this is still more a thinking person type thriller, and I do recommend paying close attention.

This second book in the series also solidified the partnership between Caitlin and Spencer, as they learned to balance a personal relationship with their professional one. I think these two will always have a few tug of war moments, but overall they make a great team and I hope we see more of them in the future.

I recommend this book to lovers of psychological thrillers, and romantic suspense fans, especially. But, anyone who likes dark serial killer thrillers or mysteries will enjoy this one as well.

I received this book in an exchange for an honest review, thanks to Edelweiss

THIS BOOK WAS FREAKING AMAZING!!! CAN YOU TELL HOW MUCH I LOVED THIS BOOK!!!! :DDD

Not sure why I took so long reading this book, but OHMYGOD!!!! this book was absolutely amazing. I loved Caity and Spense, gosh they are soooo adorable with a capital 'A'. Baldwin had a very interesting way of introducing the book with a POV that I think is both essential but not at the same time. I have to admit, when I read the first chapter I didn't quite get what I was reading I had to double check to make sure I was reading the right book.

It all begins with one blonde girl falling from the sky who appeared like she was a fallen angel because of her good looks. The interesting part was, this acts as a catalyst and more deaths begin to happen. The police then recruit Profilers to help them find this criminal as they have no idea who they are looking for. There is more to this than just the crime itself, I liked how they were mini plots of the other characters too but not too much that the reader would deviate from the story.

I loved both Caity and Spense, I didn't read the first novel but I could tell there was definitely some romance going on between them. I would recommend this to crime lovers out there.

description

I like to imagine Caity in my head like this :)

description

From how Spense is described in the book by the author, I would imagine Spense being like this to anyone who flirts with Caity. Lol

The quirky duo Spence and Caitlin are back in this suspense that starts off with a body falling from the sky.

I love that Spence and Caitlin aren’t your typical leads in a suspense novel. They are two highly intelligent individuals but with plenty of quirks. Spence needing to use a rubiks cube to calm his anxieties is just one of his endearing qualities. These two are still in the early stages of their personal relationship and that neither has ever been good at relationships its humorous to see them try and navigate it.

As far as their professional relationship they work perfectly with each other. Him being a FBI profiler her a forensic psychiatrist decided to team up and are called out to Hollywood to try and work a profile for someone that is killing women that look like angels. The author did a good job of misleading not only Spence and Caitlin on who the UNSUB was but also the reader by throwing in some good twists here and there.

These two are such fascinating characters to read that I enjoy reading every mystery that comes their way to solve. I look forward to hopefully many more stories about these two in the future.

What a trip of a story!!

I had a hard time getting into this one - although I really LOVED the first book, so I figured I'd continue with the author and characters. In the beginning, there was this serial killer in Hollywood killing upscale call girls. Spense and Cassidy were called in to consult for the BAU. But at the start of the story, Spense and Cassidy are doing this "love dance," and there is little focus on the murders or murderer. However, I kept reading (because I hate to leave a book unfinished), and before I realized it, the story had taken off!! They were knee-deep in clues and action. And the killer?? SO LOOK did not see that coming!!

So, my suggestion for this the 2nd book in the series, is to give it a minute b4 you give up on it. I ended up really liking it and finishing it really in one good day of reading!! So just be patient...itll be worth it, I promise!!

"Their eyes met, and he put his hand on his heart. She did the same. From here on out, it seemed, they were in this together."
Swoooooooon! Sigh.
Carey Baldwin is quickly becoming my favorite author! Her books (at least the two I've read) have just enough angst, romance (sorta), suspense and thrill to keep me hooked for daysssssssss!

This Spenser and Cassidy novel is outstanding! The "who dunnit" aspect is flawless, and I never figured it out! (Obviously we find out in the end).

I think my favorite aspect of Carey's writing is that 90% of the book is in third person, but the victim and perps POVs are first person. It gives the book a f in and unique twist that I don't often come across.

If you made it this far, I hope it's obvious that I HIGHLY suggest these books!

Fallen was a great second book in the Cassidy & Spenser series. Spenser and Caity are coming right off their previous case. They shared a kiss in the first book and it looked like more would happen after the case was over. But, they were sent to LA on a case. Spenser is resolute that he and Caity will be together. She continues to have a wall around herself. Partially, because she feels as a female she may not be taken seriously if she has a relationship with someone with whom she works. This part of the storyline progresses at just the right pace from my point of view (slow and steady). The case they work on is very interesting. It was really Hollywood worthy.

I read the first installment of this series so long ago that with this second installment I had to reacquaint myself with Cassidy and Spense. This, of course, didn't take very long as Ms. Baldwin's books really could be stand alone reads. Even though I figured out the "bad guy" half way through the book, it was still a great read. I always appreciate when dialogue is "real", and Ms. Baldwin has the skill to pull this off. Cassidy and Spenser are a perfect team, and I appreciate their relationship taking a whole new twist. If I didn't have so many books in line on my Nook, I'd go ahead and read the third book in the series. Great read!

I liked this book more than the first. The first book left me wanting more, which is why I checked this out. The plot is fabulous, and just the right amount of predictable. However I hate Katie and Spense’s relationship. I hate the way he calls her baby on the first date, how all her anxiety goes away because of Spense, and how their relationship is way too picture perfect and how unrealistic their interactions and thoughts of each other are

In LOVE with her books!!

I'm a huge fan of Patterson books, especially the Alex Cross series and the Private series. Came across a book of Carey Baldwin 's and on a whim decided to buy and download. I'm still a HUGE fan of Patterson but I will say this. ...... Since my first download, I've only searched and downloaded Carey Baldwin books.

Good read! I was able to predict the killer early in the book, but this was still an enjoyable read. The story line, the characters, and the writing were all pretty solid.

Incredible suspense! Carey gets better with each one.

Straight from the case that threw Caitlin Cassidy and ‘Spense’ Spenser together as a team, Caitlin and Spense now find themselves attempting to profile a serial killer in the midst of the most ‘fake’ of worlds…Hollywood. Dubbed the Fallen Angel Killer, someone is killing prostitutes and posing them in high traffic tourist spots. When a witness goes missing, Caitlin and Spense must work against the clock to figure out who the killer is, who this mysterious Celebrity X is, and even whether or not the killer is male or female. All the while Spense’s feelings and attraction for Caitlin drives him to be over-protective and even jealous of the men working on the case with them. Of course, his worry over Caitlin’s safety becomes an issue because if you know Caitlin Cassidy, nothing keeps her from following a clue…not even a killer.

I love the way we are pulled into the mind of the killer through Caitlin’s skills as a forensic psychiatrist and Spense’s skills as an FBI profiler. The way that Caitlin climbs into the shoes of the killer and Spense solves the puzzle of the crimes leads on a merry chase after the Fallen Angel Killer. It’s a constant guessing game, thinking you’ve got it solved only to discover you’re all wrong and just as the killer feels unseen, we fail to see him. Brilliant!

I would love to go on about this amazing suspense but I also don’t want to give away too much. I want anyone and everyone who enjoys a good mystery to read this amazing story. Things are starting to heat up a little between Caitlin and Spense too. I love how Carey has invited us on the journey these two amazing characters are taking toward working better and better as a team and in a budding romantic relationship.

I highly recommend FALLEN by Carey Baldwin because this is what a suspense is meant to be…thrilling, action-packed, puzzling, and at times, truly creepy. It rocks! If you love romantic suspense, this one is for you.

***purchased for my own reading but I'm sharing my honest and unscripted review with you.

Another thrilling read from Carey Baldwin. My fingers were itching to get my hands on 'Fallen' after having been introduced to Caitlin and Spenser in 'Judgment.' I had high hopes as I was so impressed with the first in the series. 'Fallen' went beyond my expectations and the Cassidy & Spenser series is now a firm favourite.

The author teases the reader with the slow romance between the protagonists. With every lingering look and touch, the reader can't help but fall in love with them as they fall in love with each other. Their developing relationship is left to simmer however, as more pressing matters take centre stage when the pair are called in to profile a serial killer in Hollywood.
The 'nail biting' mystery and suspense had me completely engrossed and the twists and turns kept me guessing until the very end. I really had no clue until Cassidy figured it out. The killer in question is a completely new kind of character for me. The psychology and twisted reasoning behind it was intelligent and thought provoking. I can't wait to read what Ms Baldwin comes up with next.

From the moment I started reading this one had me hooked. A body falling from the sky? A perp tagged by the press as The Fallen Angel Killer? The victims all prostitutes working for the same madam? And once again Spense and Caity from the Behavoiral Analysis Unit of the FBI once again on the scene? Oh, yes, I'm hooked.

I have to admit this one kept me guessing. The author did a good job of mixing up the clues, making you think it was one person then adding another fact to make you suspect someone else. The motive was also well concealed until the end, which tied up all the loose ends quite nicely.

The personal relationship between Caity and Spense was also relatively new for both of them and they were both feeling their way along, trying to figure out exactly where they were going.

If you like romantic suspense with a trifle more emphasis on the suspense, then you'd do well to check this one out.

I'm the first to admit that I'm normally a 'one and done' kind of girl when it comes to couples in books and their romance. In saying that though - Spencer and Cassidy are more suspense (two books and they haven't gotten much past a kiss).

The plot on this was full of twists and turns and a number of suspects. Someone is killing beautiful blonds and its up to Spence, Caity and the Hollywood police to figure it out before another woman ends up dead.

It's interesting to see into the mind of a killer and how profiling works and that the profile is ever evolving as new clues come to light.

If you enjoy a 'who done it' and like seeing how characters evolve from book to book then give this series a go.
