There are no two ways about it — William Harrigan is a certified babe. He’s sexy, smart, and British, and he wants nothing more than to charm the pants off of fellow college senior Jess Leighton. Well, he does want other things; he just can’t tell her about the job he’s working since it maybe, possibly involves her. Jess, who moonlights as a celebrity photographer, is laser-focused on earning enough money snapping pics to pay her way through grad school. But when the criminally handsome William moves in on her turf, she’ll have to fend off the competition as well as resist the guy who makes her heart race and her skin sizzle.
Because this man is not to be trusted.
Right? Though if Jess wants the million-dollar picture she desperately needs, she’ll have no choice but to trust Will, and he’ll have to come clean about everything he wants from Jess. Including her.

*A STARSTRUCK KISS is book 1 in WRAPPED UP IN LOVE, a spin-off series of the NYT Bestselling CAUGHT UP IN LOVE series.
Jess Leighton is a 21 yr. old college senior living in LA, & working as a celebrity photographer to pay her way through grad school. Taking photos is her primary source of income, & how she is paying for medical school. Jess stays busy balancing classes, volunteering at the hospital, & working as a paparazzo. She gets a thrill from doing a star stakeout, & is very good at getting that perfect shot for celebrity magazines.
One day she stops by her boss J.P.'s office and there is a hot guy with a sexy accent there. Jess finds out his name is William Harrigan. He's from London, & is also a senior at the University of Los Angeles. Jess finds him unbelievably attractive. She has no time for men, & wants to keep her focus on becoming a doctor, so she tries to practice restraint when it comes to gorgeous men. She worries this beautiful, British man is her new competition at work, & is curious why he was there talking to her boss.
All of the sudden everywhere Jess shows up to take a celebrity pic, there is William. She begins to worry he is her biggest rival, & feels she needs to protect her territory. She likes to be in control, & doesn't like her intense attraction for him. He is a distraction she doesn't need, but she can't help the way her body feels when he's near. There is a chemistry between them they can't deny.
William can't quit thinking of the stunning, blonde, sarcastic, feisty, California girl he just met. Even though he really likes Jess, he has ulterior motives when it comes to getting close to her. His student visa is about to expire, & he is desperate to stay in LA after graduation. If he doesn't find a permanent job soon, he will have to leave the states.
Jess is suspicious of William & really doesn't trust him. She finds out what he's hiding, and they end up working together as partners. Jess needs to crash a famous Hollywood couples wedding to get a wedding shot, & there are things William needs from Jess. As they are around each they share a few steamy kisses & can't seem to keep their hands off each other. I really like this couple together & look forward to seeing what happens with them in book 2. :D
Typical college cutesy partners in crime. Jess as a newbie paparazzi desperate to hit the biggest catch in Hollywood. William as part-time private detective desperate to gain full-time employment. Together they rise, complications they fall. That should do their motto.
Not much to say as I’m not really into college romance. But this is an okay read. I like the characters maturity and bits of conflict of interest.

Hollywood..the city where actors, glitz, glamour, and celebrities live. It is a city where if you want to be seen, heard, and discovered. One thing Hollywood is notoriously known for is its paparazzi. Fans love to see pictures of their favorite celebrities. Lets be real, we love to find out the juiciest gossip on who our favorite celebrities are dating, what they are wearing, and any tiny glimpse into their lives. And a picture is worth a thousand words or in the case the livelihood of Jess Leighton. Stalking celebrities and taking their photos is what puts food on the table, pays her bills and most importantly her college tuition for medical school. The life of a paparazzi is not any easy task. They are in your face nosy people trying to one up each other to get the latest pictures that will put the big bucks into their pockets.
So when a new competition moves in Jess's territory, she does not know what to make of it. How could she resist this charming British hot new co-worker, William who can speak multiple languages. The accent and smile alone knocks Jess off her feet. Not to mention his kiss. When Jess and William kiss, fireworks goes off. Its smoldering, hot, heated, passionate and a kiss to die for. Can Jess and William work together when they need each other's help for a secret celebrity photo shoot? Like the flashes of a camera, will sparks of love develop between these two? Or will they need another retake?
A Starstruck Kiss was a great introduction to Will and Jess. I definitely wanted to know more about this couple and I can't wait to read Stars in Their Eyes and see where Ms. Lauren Blakely takes them.
Jess is not only a college student trying to graduate and pay her way into med school, she’s also making ends meet by catching celebrities by surprise (and some not by surprise) as paparazzi, selling the images to cover her expenses. Enter the hero, a hot British guy, William, who at first appears to be her competition, but soon Jess realizes that he isn’t exactly what he seems.
As these two race around Hollywood to capture the stars, they get caught up in their own chemistry.
++++++++
I have come to adore the humor and sexy and Ms. Blakely brings with her books. Given that William is Matthew’s brother, I was already swooning when I started with page one. The writing was great and the story line was something very new and non-recycled. But... I struggled with the theme a bit. Not being one that is very interested in the A-list stars and the glitz of those that star on the large and small screen – it was hard to focus on the story with so much going on with the celebrity aspect of the story. I wanted to skim through all the names to get back to William & Jess.
This Novella introduces us to the characters and the start of their plot, preparing us for Stars in Their Eyes, where things get sticky.
Great introduction to the new series – loved it! This story is told from dual POV's and it was a fun and flirty. I think great foundation was set for what’s to come.
I really liked Jess and was totally intrigued by her job and determination. She seemed so very real to me, they both did. I loved William, he was so sweet and sexy. “Hot. British. Rides a motorcycle.” I was sold! I kept wanting to know what he was up to and what secrets he was keeping, I was definitely invested.
Jess and William together are just awesome. Their banter was excellent and they definitely have chemistry! They had great conversations, there were some really fun parts (loved their texting) and there were some steamy parts as well. Just like the title says, there is a kiss involved and I could totally feel it. Totally swoon worthy! Can't wait for more from these two.
Loved the connections to other books, that always makes me smile. I just found it all highly entertaining and I loved all the movie references as well. Bring on Stars in Their Eyes!!!
This novella is a great introduction to this spin-off series. William is a Hot British Guy (HBG)who has 2 months left on his student visa and wants to stay in America. Jess is a med student who works as a paparazzi to pay for her education. I love the introduction of these characters and the instant chemistry between them. I can't wait to read more!
This novella is the meeting between William and Jess, and the setup for the rest of their story in the follow-up, Stars In Their Eyes, which is now available, too.
Jess Leighton is in need of funds to feed her bankrupt savings account. While finishing her undergrad degree, she moonlights as a paparazzo taking pics of the rich and famous in LA to pay tuition for medical school. Jess is a control freak, too – but she isn’t always what you see.
William Harrigan has a sexy British accent and provides some very sexy scenery with his fantastic ass, cut body, toned arms, dark messy hair and eyes that resemble an angry sky. He’s also a senior working on his degree, too. He speaks multiple foreign languages and needs a job – badly.
When these two meet, it’s instant attraction. For reasons I'm not about to say, each needs the other to accomplish their goals. It’s comical to watch them spar, the chemistry is razzle dazzle and fireworks. Blakely continues to charm with her wittty and sassy dialogues. Her characters are well-developed and entertaining. Overall, I just enjoy her writing style and fun-to-read storylines immensely.
I was hooked from the beginning, and I'm ready to follow this new series into the next segment of Jess and William's collaboration to the end.
Thank you to Lauren Blakely for the review copy! This in no way affected my views of this novella.
Lauren said she thinks this is my kind of story and I did think so, even with just the blurb. Because, HELLO, HOLLYWOOD. I love Hollywood, I love catching up on all the celebrity gossip. I'm the kind of person who is a regular at Who's Dated Who (omg, I finally confessed this in public), Wetpaint, JustJared, JustJaredJr (because really, I'm still a teen living in a yuppie's body) and I love reading casting news, dating rumors, EVERYTHING. I gobble it all up. (Except for reality show stars, thank God. I plan to stay away from getting addicted to those.) Anyway, this is such a long intro. All I wanted to say is that YES, Lauren was right, this is my kind of story and here are the reasons why it could be yours too!
HOLLYWOOD. But, we don't get the common perspective of a star. We get the perspective of Jess, a twenty-one year-old pre-med student who's paying for college and funding her med school by taking pictures of celebrities. Yes, you got that right, our heroine is a paparazzo. Give it to Lauren to still write a fresh story in this day and age. So, we definitely get to see a lot on how the paparazzi works and the whole symbiosis I never realized the paparazzo and celebrities have. Celebrities hate paparazzis supposedly but then they need them too for their fame. If the portrayal in here is realistic, then I guess you'll learn a thing or two too like me.
College and post-grad problems! YAY for a new adult romance that tackles WHAT HAPPENS NEXT. Jess is just trying to put dough in her med school fund and William's student visa expires in two months. For those who have read Far Too Tempting (click for review), William is Matthew's younger brother. Which also means he's British. He's in LA studying East Asian Languages on a student visa and he'll be sent back to the Queen in two months if he doesn't turn it into a working visa. So we get to read about the hardships, difficulties and setbacks William face just to stay here in the US, which is what he wants to do. He hasn't graduated yet, which puts him at a disadvantage in getting a permanent job. I just love how Lauren tackled post-grad problems because finding a job is hard and it's a problem soon-to-be-graduates all have.
Sizzling chemistry. Jess and William are both so playful and they tease each other all the time. Then there's their physical chemistry. Basically, they just check all the boxes in what you're looking for in a romantic pair.
They're not broken! They don't hate their parents! YES A THOUSAND TIMES OVER.
DUAL PERSPECTIVE. Oh it's just the gift that keeps on giving! William is especially funny in this cheeky way so it's really really fun to read his side of the story.
My only qualm about this novella is that it felt like a lot happened already when in fact it's just been three days since Jess and William met. Well, it's true that a lot has happened but it just went to fast for me. So for those raising their eyebrows right about now, yes, it might irk those who hate instalove, which includes me. But amazingly, it all felt natural in here because they were just bantering and they had chemistry. They're attracted to each other but that's it. For now that is because the story continues to STARS IN THEIR EYES, the full-length novel out this October 9! Be sure to get this novella while it's free!
I just love when Lauren Blakely has a free prequel novella to introduce a new series! A Starstruck Kiss is a quick glimpse into Jess and William and how they met. Jess is a med school student, funding her way through college by snapping and selling photos of celebrities. William is British and going to school in the U.S., but his time is running out. He needs a full time job and a work visa in order to stay. Otherwise when his student visa expires in two months, he is heading back to England,
They meet while working on a photo opportunity assignment for their mutual boss. But Jess senses something is off about William. It's not his looks, which are gorgeous; or his accent, which is delicious. Hell it's not even his personality, which is cute and endearing. All of those things are quite wonderful, albeit distracting, but he just doesn't fit the bill as a paparazzo. Jess vows not to let the charming boy get in the way of her plans of work and school and she will find out what he is really up to. She might even steel a kiss along the way.
I already love William and we have only just begun!! Of course I adored his brother Matthew in the book Far Too Tempting, so I was already really looking forward to this story. He's funny and handsome and hello, BRITISH! What's not to like?! I cannot wait to continue Jess and William's story in Stars in Their Eyes and see how their new partnership works out.
A Starstruck Kiss is a super cute, quick introduction to Jess and William and what I expect to be a really fun, sweet romance. Jess is working her way through college and trying to pay for her first semester of medical school as a paparazzo. There's a celebrity wedding coming up, and she is determined to find out when and where it is and bank the big bucks. Well, William is also trying to land the job so he can stay in America after graduation. He likes Jess, but she is the competition. But getting close to her gets him closer to his goal and her, of course.
A Starstruck Kiss was so much fun to read. I loved the celebrity hunting going on! Jess is using everything at her disposal to find this wedding that could be the difference between her attending med school or not. It certainly got me excited for a lot of wedding crashing hijinks to come as she and William compete to get that perfect shot!
Email: sizzlingpages@gmail.com Lauren Blakely has a way of just making me feel like I'm on a different plain when I read. Like things are just better in the worlds she creates. People are vibrant and passionate and I'm lost in the story before I know it. Can't wait to see where this series takes me. If only I had more hours in the day because my goal is to have marked READ to every Lauren Blakely book.
Lauren, Lauren, Lauren. Why do I love you so much? THIS is why! A Starstruck Kiss is alluring, passionate, funny, and the true definition of a page turner!
Jess is a pre-med college student, moonlighting as a paparazzi to pay for school and her apartment. Enter Will. Hot. British. Hot. Accent. Hot. (Yes, he's worthy of 3 Hot's). Will appears to be paparazzi as well, but you learn towards the end of this novella that Will isn't exactly who he says he is.
A Starstruck Kiss is a wonderful prelude to Stars In Their Eyes (which comes out TODAY!)!! The fact that it's free AND a Lauren Blakely book should be enough reason for you to snatch this up. Can't wait to see how Will & Jess's story plays out!
Surprise, surprise...Lauren Blakely does it again!!! This book introduces us to William and Jess as the prequel to Stars in Their Eyes. First of all, William is British, and hot...do you need more of a description than that? Jess is a bit cynical but she is very independent and determined. Together, they are perfect....except it seems that William is keeping a secret. There was just enough drama and steam to get me really excited and anxious to read more of their story. So, off I go to get my read on.
I really enjoyed reading the start of William and Jess' story!
They each needed one another to get what they wanted most. For Jess, it was money to pay off her school loans. For William, it was a job to be able to stay in the country for good.
There was only one problem..."She was the competition."
With egos galore and stolen kisses, how will these two ever come up with a solution?! Easy! Learn to work together! Okay, maybe not so easy;)
This was a great intro into the crazy paparazzi world that brought these two together!
This was a short read that set up the plot for book two well. I did feel that it was a little slow and wasn't as engaging as the actual book, but it was still interesting. It made me begin to like the characters, and their secrets intrigued me, but I was always left thinking the best is yet to come with crashing the wedding (which it was). Considering I got both books from NetGalley, I'm moved straight on to book 2 to find out what happens. I'm not sure the stories needed to be split up, but I'm glad I got them as one book. I'd definitely stick with this one as book 2 is worth it.
Jess is a paparazzo because she needs money to pay for her college tuition. She stalks celebrities, gets good shots then gets paid. She didn't plan on some random guy coming into the equation and being at her spots, asking her out and being completely HOT. While following celebrities around, she and William spend a few moments together and they're so cute!
I liked this book but I'm not a fan of knowing celebrities everyday lives so I looked forward to when William and Jess were back together. Aside from that, it was a quick fast enjoyable read.
Not bad. Really enjoyed William....very swoony. I was probably a bit biased against it going in b/c I'm not a fan of paparazzi, but it wasn't too bad in that respect. I guess part of me felt that it was repetitive at times, which just seemed more obvious since it was only a novella anyways, so I found myself saying "didn't she just say this exact same thing a few pages ago?" Not enough to suck me into buying the first book basically. So not bad, just not awesome either.
I have read all of Lauren's books and I love that they are all unique. When I found out she was writing a book with Far Too Tempting leading man Matthew's brother, William I was ecstatic and maybe some fists were flying from excitement. Matthew is one of my favorite Blakely boys so I knew his brother was going to be just as or even more amazing! And then adding Caught up in Us Bryan's sister, Jess to the mix is just perfect.
Jess is putting her self through Med School by taking pictures of celebrities. She works hard as a paparazzo, student, and volunteer and does not have time to be mixed up with relationships. She has had some setbacks in the past so now it's time focus on school and working towards her future as a doctor. That was the plan until she went to see her boss about some pictures and heard a very sexy British accent and a man that was drop dead gorgeous.
William has been in the states for a few years on a student visa but if he doesn't find a job after Graduation in a few months he will be sent packing home. His latest job is a paparazzo is just to get him one step closer to staying but needs full time employment. He is also working with his Uncle by marriage but it's mysterious but it could work in his favor later. This is his main focus until he turns around at the office of J.P's, his boss for Paparazzo gig and sees a beautiful blonde. He thinks she is beautiful but when she she speaks, he is done for, he loves American accents and she is a witty one too...
When William and Jess end up at the same place for a shot that could earn them a good paycheck they have a chance to get to know each other. They are after all enemies when it comes to getting the money shots in this town but there is also an attraction there. In a town full of actors they both have to question one another's motives. They are competitors that end up in the same places. But there is one place they both need to be so can they be partners? Can Jess trust William? Can William get Jess to open up more? Not just about work but about life.
I fell hard for William! He is a sexy motorcycle riding British hottie with so wit and charm. And Jess is a feisty, lovely and an independent woman that I would love to be friends with. There is a type of ease with them but with an underling of mystery. The banter between them is amazing and I can't wait to see what happens next in Stars In Their Eyes!
P.S. Lauren comes up with the Best Dog Names Ever! That is all.
Quotes:
"I should go." "I'm sorry if I rubbed you the wrong way." "You didn't rub me in any way at all," I said hastily, then instructed my brain to remove all thoughts of rubbing-the right way, of course, because he'd do it the right way. I was sure he'd do everything the absolute, toe-curling mind-blowing way.
She shot me sharp look. Oh, she was an independent little American vixen. What a turn-on. Feistiness was like a drug to me.
"Of course I like the movies," I said rolling my eyes, as if that would work as my Smart Guy Repellent so I could keep him at bay.
First thing I have to say is I'm hooked! A STARSTRUCK KISS is sassy and such a fun read I can't wait for the rest of the books in the series! Lauren Blakely is one of those authors whose writing style is filled with wit, humor and characters you can't help but love!
William and Jess were great together and I love that they tie-in to Lauren's previous series Caught Up in Love, by being related to characters from those books. But even without reading the other books I enjoyed the witty dialogue (Jess really made William work hard to keep up with her) and the flow of the storyline. William was smitten with Jess from the start, but Jess really fights her attraction to the Hot British Guy, or HBG as she refers to him. The resulting pursuit and antics as they cruise around Hollywood looking for photo ops of the celebrities is hilarious even when it's clear that after that first kiss, Jess is a goner. Clear to anyone that is, but Jess.
Jess Leighton is hilarious in her single-mindedness to stay focused on her goal of earning the money to fund medical school. She's sworn off men, especially hot men, because they are too distracting. She's a woman who is always in control. Smart, beautiful, sassy, feisty, and goes about her day with a take no prisoners attitude. She is a pro at hiding her reactions and emotions, at hiding anything she considers a weakness. She has a great relationship with her family and a roommate with whom she swears they share the same brain. With all her quirks and inner battles it's impossible not to love her, to want more for her than she is willing to allow herself.
William Harrigan is a gorgeous Brit, with a love for Southern California sunshine that drives him every bit as much as becoming a doctor drives Jess. So being shipped back to England when he graduates in two months and his student Visa expires? Not going to happen! He may be sweet, charming, gallant and have a smile that makes women line up to do his bidding, but he is desperate to obtain the work Visa he needs to stay in the states and is not above a little manipulation. Especially when it involves the hot girl he's really falling hard and fast for and hopes doesn't send him away if she realizes he has ulterior motives in spending time with her.
Ms. Blakely has certainly got my attention with this prequel to her new series, Wrapped Up in Love, and I can't wait to read the rest of Jess and William's story in STARS IN THEIR EYES which Thank God is available now! 4.5 stars
Trying to finance her medical school dreams without resorting to student loans, Jess Leighton has channelled her abilities to recognize celebrity faces and take quality photos quickly as a paparazzo to help her reach her dream. All her energy is focused on keeping her grades up and funding that next step in her life; she keeps her vices, guys and dessert, at a distance to maintain the control necessary to reach her goals.
William Harrigan is in the United States on a student visa, struggling to find a way to remain in the States following his graduation. When he shows up at several of the same shoots as Jess, she feels both a competitive threat and a dangerous attraction.
I loved each of these character individually and together. I'm pretty sure I spent much of my time reading these with a grin plastered to my face.
A Starstruck Kiss is the introduction to Stars in Their Eyes. It is sweet, short and raises many of the questions which are answered in the second book. Stars in Their Eyes takes the story and expands it, twists it, and carries it beyond the basic lines it appears to have.
Together they made for a fun, flirty, read with a twist. Through the ups and downs I found myself making predictions about who was behind various activities and how things would shake out in the end. Because for a while things looked like smooth sailing, like they weren’t going to have a tough time finding their happy ending. And then that smooth road shatters to pieces spectacularly.
This is the first of a spin-off from Lauren’s Caught Up in Love series. The characters that are new should make for interesting stories down the line. And the ties ins to Caught Up in Us and Far Too Tempting, in particular, were fun little pieces. Brian and Matthew, as each character’s siblings pop in and out of the story more than their significant others, but even the little glimpse of Clay and Julia make for fun connections. I think I say this every time I review one of Lauren’s books but I love how she is able to bring back the characters that we love without taking the attention of the main story. These really do standalone, though the characters are woven through other books.
I was gifted a copy in exchange for an honest review.
First off when you buy the book it comes with this warning.
WARNING: The hero in this book is hot, charming, smart, funny, ripped, gorgeous, respectful, and completely panty-melting. Please proceed. That right there made me want to read this book. How can you not want to read anything that starts off with a man who will likely become one of many on your list of book boyfriends?
Jess is a blonde haired, blue-eyed senior in college who is trying to pay for her way into medical school by taking pictures of celebrities. Jess needs to have control in all aspects in her life. Unfortunately, when she’s around William she finds the control that she strives for slipping with his grey eyes that could captivate her like thunderclouds, chiseled cheekbones with just enough stubble, dark hair, and gorgeous smile. A tall, toned, and strong body. He was charming and her competition.
William Harrigan is also senior student who is in America on school visa and if can’t find an employer to sponsor him within the next two months he will have to go back to England. He’ll do anything to get a job and stay even if that means he’s working on a job that possibly involves the woman that’s caught his eye. William finds Jess lovely, hot, and feisty. Everything that he likes best in a girl.
Jess figures out that William isn’t what he’s been pretending to be and has to decide if she can trust him after he confesses to her and take him up on the deal that he’s presented her with. A deal that could pay for next year’s medical school.
A Starstruck Kiss a great introduction to this new series by Lauren Blakely and William and Jess. I look forward to reading Stars in Their Eyes that comes out October 9th. Pre-order it now and to continue with Jess & William’s story.
