The Wild Wild Wild ride continues ... Welcome to Craing Dominion, Book 5 of the best-selling Scrapyard Ship series.
Truly dark times have come to the Allied forces, the crew of The Lilly, and Earth — we knew they were coming but nothing will have prepared you for this …
With the introduction of Craing commander Ot-Mul, there’s a new standard for evil that will not only shape the rest of this series, but Science Fiction literature as a whole.
Join Captain Jason Reynolds as he ventures into the proverbial lion’s den in a last ditch effort to even the playing field with the Craing — an empire that has embarked on a pursuit that will guarantee their de facto dominance for millennia to come.
MWM. had. penned the fifth novel in the Scrapyard Ship series and everything is about to change again. The people of Earth finally are beginning to understand what is occurring around them and that they have little or no influence in what a beast is about to do. A change in leadership on the enemy's fleet leads to unbelievable consequences. The Captain, family, crew and aramada may not be prepared for the viciousness of the new leader. This is an excellent read for the genre.....DEHS
I find it incomprehensible that when confronted with an enemy who has taken billions of lives, destroyed hundreds if not thousands of planets, and is engaged in unrestricted genocide that their opponent, as in Reynolds, would pull his punches. He is not a hero, he is a chump. How many excess billions of lives and hundreds of planets have been destroyed because he lacks the courage to exterminate the enemy.
I love the new characters in the story. I can't wait to get the next book in the series! Do yourself a favor and pick up this series of books, you won't be disappointed.
I'm so attached to these characters that I can't seem to stop reading Scrapyard Ship books - I do wish he'd tone down the F bombs, though (thus the four star rating) - the story works fine without those. Great Scifi and fun summer reading. Always a surprise around every corner! Go Mark!
The book is easy to read, hard to put it down. The series keeps getting better in my opinion. My only complaint is the sizes of the battles is unbelievable. But if read the action won't let you think about it
I only started reading this series a couple of weeks ago and 5 down! Love the books but hate that I’m done so quick, I just can’t put it down... yes I’m loosing sleep!
Just another masterpiece. I’ve read this series over and over. I’m just crazy about this book 5. One of the most exciting of the series. Thank you again
If you remember the end of the previous book, Captain Jason Reynolds and some of his crew had gone down to Earth to try and terminate a number of satellites planted by the Caldurian Granger in his escape. These satellites are set to change Earth into different time dimensions existing all over Earth. He and his crew successfully destroyed all the satellites before they could have returned Earth permanently back 100 years into the past. Now, with that problem solved, Captain Reynolds must now go after the Caring before they come and destroy Earth and its allies.
Earth has formed an Alliance with several other civilizations in this sector of the galaxy and together they hope to be able to stop the Caring Fleet. In the meantime, Jason and his ship the Lilly along with his brother, Billy and the Her Majesty, will try to re-capture the Minian, a Caldurian ship that is incredibly advanced.
No while Jason is out running his plot, the Caring have sent a powerful Fleet into Alliance space that is systematically destroying Alliance planets and population! And no one in the Alliance seems to know this is happening until they’ve already destroyed several planets. This causes some panic in the Alliance and instead of gathering their forces, they individually start heading out to protect their own planets! So much for the Alliance.
Admiral Reynolds, Jason’s Father, is in-charge of the Alliance but he doesn’t do anything but complain about all the Alliance ships leaving his Fleet. Why he didn’t get everyone to gether and go out to confront the Caring is beyond me.
So, Jason is attempting to steal the Minian back while preventing the Caring from destroying his ship, the Lilly. He has to steal the Minian while it is docked to the Emporer’s shipyards in the middle of the Caring Empire.
And as usual, there’s some added drama that has nothing to do with the main them. Boomer, who is Jason’s original daughter, Milly, has to have a name change because there are now two Millie’s. So Boomer, who is with Jason on his ship, gets herself in trouble while her protector is also injured and can’t help. I would have preferred to have had Milly eliminated since she seems to serve no purpose to this whole story.
Ok, so does Jason succeed? Read the book to find out. As a little hint, the story doesn’t end here. There is much more to come!
Not impressed predictable. Has every catch event used in a book / shows. But I will likely finish the series. It is like seeing a disgusting sight you know it is bad but you still have to look and say Oh that is bad. Feel that way about this series but already invested in this series and I believe there is only one or two more so will likely speed read through it so I at least can see if my guess on ending is correct. Don't get me wrong the writing and editing are good just the storyline is just SO predictable it actually gets boring reading.
This is the 5th book in the Scrapyard Ship series by Mark Wayne McGinnis. In this one a new villain is introduced in the character of Craing Commander Ot-Mul. He and his fleet of 7 ships are systematically destroying all life bearing planets within 200 light years of the Craing empire. This includes Earth and it's partners in the Alliance. It is up to Captain Jason Reynolds and the crew of the Lilly to try and stop him against overwhelming odds. Another great read in the Scrapyard Ship series. I highly recommend it.
My character is extremely hard to relate to because he is a ex-navy seal, and has had a wife. I cannot relate to him in many ways although he does love adventuring as I do. He is a smart person but has made many mistakes in his life and everyone things he is a bad person which is a mother reason it is hard to relate to him.
Fantastic as usual. Very quick read but enjoyable all the way through. No need to rehash what I have said for the past 4 books because you wouldn't have gotten this far unless you have been enjoying the series. A little weaker in the ending than the last books but by no means a deterrent for moving straight onto the next book the moment it is released.
Their a tough bunch. So much to do, seemingly no time to keep up with the gruelling pace of just one event after another. This book in the series follows our friends affairs as they cope with each other in the aftermath of near disaster.
Well once again we see the battles between the alliance forces and the Craing going badly for the alliance and earth.. The Craing forces are now destroying planet and earth is next. Jason his crew once more need to pull off the impossible.
Initially I like the writing and storyline but it has become too boring and predictable. The repeated Seal team references with no depth are frustrating as are the un-named people who are dying in battles while the heroes get away again and again.
There were unfinished plot twists. . Could have had smoother joining of the plots. Such as were there any female or young rino rescued. Hope the next one is better.
