Janna read aloud for history. These are fun books to get a sweet kids version of historical figures. They did mention the fact that he had 12 kids, but not the fact that they were all from different women🥴. It did a good job at portraying the difficult childhood he had with several tragedies and the strong influence his 2 moms had.
I loved this series of books as a kid and wanted to dive back into it again. As a musician, starting back up with Ray Charles was a no-brainer. Great book! Simple and quick read!
I admit it....I cried for Ray's mother. Not only did we learn about Ray and his childhood, we discovered that it was his mother who overcame great difficulty and tragedy to make sure her little boy grew up to be an independent man. She is the woman who inspired me most in 2008!
First time I have picked up one of these, and I can see what the appeal is. Very fun way to learn about history! I learned a lot about Ray Charles that I didn't know before and it was a quick read.
I liked it. He goes blind. And he gets a bike and he does it when he was blind and he could ride it faster than everyone else who could see and he never crashed.
This guy had such a hard life. I almost didn't like to read about it, but he developed a good attitude about it and just dealt with it. There were lots of great lessons to learn in this book.
