I picked up The Confessions of Nairobi Women in 2023 while I was on vacation in Kenya, and it was an absolute page-turner. I flew through it on my flight home, so when I found out there was a The Confessions of Nairobi Men, I just had to read it.
Once again, Joan Thatiah did not disappoint.
The stories were raw, thought-provoking, and deeply human. They reminded me that you can know someone, or at least think you do, without ever truly understanding the experiences that shaped them. Every confession offered a different perspective, making it impossible not to reflect on how complex people really are.
Some stories were heartbreaking, others were shocking, and a few were surprisingly hopeful, but every single one left me thinking long after I had finished reading. This book deepened my appreciation for just how layered and complicated the human experience is.
A highly recommended read.
