Living in a small town hasn’t always been sunshine and cupcakes for Prim Easton. It took years for her to learn to control her magic, and she’s left plenty of victims in her wake. With a reputation like that, dating hasn’t exactly been easy. So, when the handsome Dante Silva walks into her life, she isn’t exactly surprised when he keeps his distance. Thankfully she has other things to be excited about—namely the movie that’s being filmed at her shop. But when the spells cast for the film start to go haywire and someone gets hurt, suddenly everyone is pointing their finger at her. Everyone but Dante Silva.
Dante Silva has a troubled past. He’s loved and lost and isn’t interested in trying again. But he has a soft spot for Prim Easton. The lovely witch has gotten under his skin and no matter how hard he tries, he can’t seem to stay away from her. And when someone sabotages the movie being filmed at her shop, he suddenly finds himself sticking to her side. Now he’s undercover, looking for the rogue witch while trying—and failing—to keep from losing what’s left of his heart. Together he and Prim will do whatever it takes to keep the film crew safe, and maybe, just maybe find the love neither of them were looking for.

I really needed a trip to Befana Bay!!!! There is something extra magical about Deanna Chase’s writing, no matter what series, or book I’m instantly transported somewhere absolutely magical for a few hours and when I finished I just want to go back. Dante and Prim talk about a whirlwind romance that felt so right in every way. Prim doubts herself so much with her unpredictable magic, Dante has sworn off women, thanks to his Ex but after bidding on Prim at a charity for a date things just seem to fall into place… So when things start to happen around Prim or to Prim or Prim’s magic is blamed I loved how Dante stood right beside her and I love how Prim found her backbone to fight for Dante because these two really are meant to be.
Prim and Dante have a crazy journey. Friends first and then relationship, but no planning for the crazy side of chaos that comes with it. Both get somewhat sidetracked and blinded with the insanity and sheer bedlam that comes with several events, and all they can do is attempt to find the truth in those situations and survive, separately and together.
It’s an emotional rollercoaster ride in an insane asylum - good thing Prim thinks through situations clearly and asks for help when needed, so she makes the best possible choices when dealing with difficult or crazy people.
Prim as a witch, also has the support of the Befana Bay coven run by her feisty grandmother, and both her sisters as part of it as added protection, otherwise she would be in some deep kaka and unable to escape.
There’s plenty of chaos crazy too throughout the book which makes it entertaining and intense for the two main characters. For Dante, the evil stalker, the mentally unwell family member who attempts to manipulate him and his brother Mateo, all are part of the crazy chaos mix.
Loads of entertainment, moments of laughter perfectly mixed with powerful danger and a happy resolve to the story and the villains of the piece make this an absolutely worthwhile read
A book by the author never disappoints. She is my go-to author when I need a witch fix and an amazing story.
Befana Bay is home for Prim and her family of witches. They stick by each other through thick and thin. Prim is in the thick of it. For one, she has agreed for a movie to be filmed at her yarn store and the production manager is a hand full. Wanting to change so many things and Prim not liking that she may just have to pull up some of her garden to do it. Two she still has to go out on a date with Dante who had high bid for her during a charity auction. The date doesn't go by plan, but Dante and Prim try to make the best of it.
The characters are wonderful and well thought out. Prim has a problem controlling her magic and has been labeled with a really bad nickname. Can Prim finally put that nickname to rest? Or will the town continue to use it against her? Dante hasn't had it lucky in love and is not looking for a relationship. But when he bids on Prim he doesn't see a relationship with her. Strictly friends! I love Prim and Dante. They are the best couple yet in the series. Although I am pretty sure I said that in the last 3 books as well. Befana Bay is a place you can call home. A truly magical town. I loved this story and wish I could give it a higher rating.
Highly recommend. Run don't walk to your nearest bookstore, library or computer and get this series. You won't regret it!
Prim is known as a disaster with magic because she accidentally hexed a guy, which pretty much made her undatable around Befana Bay. She busies herself with her family and work and is excited about her store being a filming location because the money can help her make her professional dreams come true. Dante is friends with Prim, and has called off dating all together due to some drama with his ex and his mother. Once the film crew comes to town, Prue's magic goes haywire yet again and Dante feels obligated to help his friend and starts to consider if they could be something more - if only his personal life would calm down.
This is a great addition to the Witches of Befana Bay series, and I loved seeing the relationship between Prue and Dante grow. It's a perfect cozy book - there's mystery, conflict, drama, romance, and family love.
I’ve been waiting a year for this book. Unfortunately, it was a bit of a let down. It’s well-written, and has Chase’s usual flair for funny, sweet, slightly cooky characters. That’s why it’s getting a 3 star, middle of the enchanted path rating. It’s just as predictable as any Hallmark special. I think that may have even been the goal; it didn’t pan out. It’s not a wink and a nod to the Hallmark formula, it’s a warm hug. I found myself wondering repeatedly if somehow I’d already read this brand new book. The characters felt familiar, the story was formulaic, and there were zero surprises. If you love Deanna Chase’s books, as I have for years, this is worth reading to keep up with overall story, but more as a means to getting on to the hopefully better next book.
Oh, Bafana Bay... I wish I could live there! Prim just can't seem to catch a break when it comes to magic. It's unpredictable at best, and when a movie production arrives in Bafana Bay with a contract to use her shop, her spells go completely haywire. Chaos erupts, and naturally, Prim becomes the prime suspect.
Enter Dante. Unlike everyone else, he sees beyond her faulty magic and quickly falls for the beautiful witch affectionately known as "Schlong Pox Girl." He's all in—determined to protect her, believe in her, and love her no matter what.
This story had plenty of twists and turns that kept me guessing who was really behind the magical chaos. If you enjoy small-town magical romance, lovable characters, mystery, and a hero who's completely devoted to his leading lady, you'll have a great time with this one.
It is hard to compete with New Orleans, but Befana Bay with its matriarchy and orcas may be my favorite setting for Ms. Chase's books. I love how the orcas are just as magical in the book as I hope they are in real life... (I haven't actually seen one.)
This book tells the story of Prim, a woman who's magic has a tendency to go haywire, and Dante, a man with trust issues and a past that explains them.
I enjoyed this story, Prim is hilarious, driven, and the kind of date that would be worth the pox risk to ones nether-regions. In one kind gesture, Dante saves Prim from complete humiliation AND sets up a safety net that he is absolutely going to need. Because, between his ex-fiancée and his mother, Dante is up for a terrible, horrible, no-good, very bad week.
This was a fun read and I can't wait to see where the author takes us next!
The Witches Hidden Garden by Deanna Chase 5 stars Reviews posted 6/28/26 Prim & Dante
Dating is a nix for both of them: she for an oops with her witchery, and he because of the evil witchery of two witches against him. He still cared about Prim, a long time friend. A kind action put them dating even both didn't think they would ever again.
Would The favor end up as more? Good and bad. Read for yourself. With help of some good friends and family they just might make it. Add in their hot chemistry and who knows where it will lead.
I always enjoy the witches closeness, humor and talent. A witch town always keeps it interesting with plenty of heat.
As always Deanna Chase writes another hit book in the Befana Bay series. Prim has the adventure that could have turned out to be her life story if not for the help of friends and family. I won't give anything away in my review of the book but I will tell you it worth reading. Don't take my word for if get a copy and read it for yourself. I'm betting you will really enjoy the story line, plot, and feel for the character personalities. A well put together book can't wait for the next book in the series.
I was happy to read this book because, like I’m always saying, you know exactly what you are going to get from these author’s books. Prim and Dante are our main characters in this one, and their path to couple hood is a little rough but still mostly managed without issues. We have a small and interesting mystery, and lots of romance. This is a great addition to the series, and I know I’ll read the next even if romance isn’t really my thing. Recommend. I was provided a complimentary copy which I voluntarily reviewed.
I have been thinking about what to say about this book for several days. Did I like it, yes. This is one of the few books by this author that I was not in a hurry to finish. The writing is well done and the characters intriguing; however there was something that felt bothersome I can’t quite put my finger on. Would I recommend the story, yes. I do look forward to seeing what the author comes up with next.
This book is about Prim and Dante. Prim has a problem controlling her magic. Dante won a date with Prim but is not interested in a relationship after a bad experience. They both have to start trusting each other. Both have issues from their past but work to get past them.
Love the family connections in this series. It is very heartwarming, these Hallmark moments.
If you’ve read the other books in this series, you’ll probably enjoy this book. For me it was ok but not great. The side characters were almost stereotypical and flat. It didn’t make sense that the movie crew would start taunting Prim. Also, we never got an explanation of why the sisters had such a hard time replenishing Prim’s magic. Niko’s comment about shutting down the MTF didn’t see to fit the storyline. All little things but they added up as distractions.
Another fantastic Befana Bay novel! Sparks fly with Prim and Dante on the first not-date and it's end game from there. I love the family and connectivity to the community in this series. The way Prim's family rallies around her to help out after she's falsely arrested. This series never disappoints and I can't wait for the next one!

I have absolutely loved this series! The only thing I don’t like, is waiting 11 - ish months to read the next one. I will wait, because I have no choice, but mostly because I know it will be worth it every second. In this series, every book has been better than the previous one.
Bold, cheeky, and a little bit witchy: The Witch’s Garden serves up magical chaos with a wink. Prim’s powers may be unpredictable, but her charm isn’t—she stumbles, she sparkles, and she absolutely owns every mishap. Toss in small‑town gossip, a dash of romance, and enough magical mayhem to keep you grinning, and you’ve got a fizzy, feel‑good read that refuses to take itself too seriously.
The fourth Befana sister finally finds her guy… on the first date. While the romance seems overly rushed the story itself is intriguing with a twist. Several areas would have been even more interesting if given a little more attention. Everything seemed rushed in this story, but I still enjoyed it.
This series gets better and better. I love the witches of Befana Bay.
I think Prim and Dante are my favorite couple yet. This book has it all, sass, romance, laughter, the crazy ex. And of course the sisters kicking some magical butt.
Love the Book. Prim is a great character and her flaw magic makes her a Witch with new take on things. her and Dante's love story is a real page turner due to outside forces. Between his Mother and a crazy ex this is a must read. Looking forward to next book.
I’ve always loved all Deanna’s books, and this one did not disappoint. I am curious though if she got a new editor, because there were a lot of mistakes. It didn’t take away from the book though. Nothing could do that. I highly recommend!
Well here's the truth. Prim has issues that's aren't her fault. It's a pain to be set up in trouble issues. The one great thing is Dante who also has issues that need fixing. Together they work it out. Magic is wonderful when It’s done correctly!
Prim's magic is unstable when her emotions run wild. But someone else is causing trouble with fingers pointing at Prim. Friendship to lovers. Mystery and Magic. No cliffhanger and hea. Good series.
