"Black" is the third and final installment of what will be the 'Of Blood and Ink" anthology by Steven A Williams. It completes the journey through the light and darkness of the human condition and opens up discussion on much deeper and more serious subject matter than the earlier collections. "Black" is the most in-depth, complex, enigmatic, and epic look into the human psyche of all. This collection of works takes the greatest risks and aims to deliver the most profound meaning to the reader. It is a naturally fitting end to this well constructed masterpiece of life and death, this epic story of blood and ink.

"I want to share my art and vision of the world with as many who will listen. I seek to expose the true grit and passion of life through the written word letting the emotion bleed through every letter and the enlightenment shed through every page."
This will be my first full poetry read. I dabbled in it in High School, even made a little book for my senior project so I was excited to review this particular book when William's brought it to my attention. I'm very glad he did. The title alone tells you that this isn't going to be the most cheerful read and sometimes, that's okay. Sometimes, we're in a mood where we need a little darkness and it can sometimes bring out the light. Poetry, to me personally, is an word art form that really lets the reader take what's written and apply it however they see fit in their lives, characters, etc. Each poem had an intriguing quality to it, it was my kind of poetry style so I enjoyed it. You have to really know what style you like in order to benefit from an type of poetry book. My favorite line: "Throughout my quest for validation, though you have watched over me, I have been alone after all." I love that line, it speaks to me and that's exactly what poetry is suppose to do. I was pleasantly surprised at how much I like William's writing. I'm disappointed I can't purchase this collection in paperback but as soon as it's available, I'll be first in line to snatch it up. This is a book you want in your purse, traveling, on a break, etc. Bad day, good day, or just a normal day pick any poem and enjoy the imagery and talent of Steven Williams'.
Contemplative, deep poetry, in turns mystical and philosophical, always profound. I found myself rereading several times to catch all that was going on owing to the richly spun weave of the various poems.
