जड़ें हैं, सन् साठ के आस-पास की ये कविताएँ। उन दिनों की पत्र-पत्रिकाओं में शायद कुछ प्रकाशित हुई थीं। फिर समय के साथ बहुत गहराई में कहीं चली गईं। छह दशक से ज़्यादा गुज़र गए। उपरांत के पहले की ये कभी की कविताएँ हैं। अब पहली बार ये किसी संग्रह का हिस्सा बन रही हैं। इसमें अपनी हस्तलिपि को कविताओं में सहेज रहा हूँ।

About the author

Vinod Kumar Shukla (born 1 January 1937) is a modern Hindi writer known for his surreal style that often borders on magic-realism and sometimes move beyond it. His works include the novels Naukar ki Kameez and Deewar Mein Ek Khirkee Rahati Thi (A Window lived in a Wall), which won the Sahitya Akademi Award for the best Hindi work in 1999.

His first collection of poems Lagbhag Jai Hind was published in 1971. Vah Aadmi Chala Gaya Naya Garam Coat Pehankar Vichar Ki Tarah was his second collection of poems, published in 1981 by Sambhavna Prakashan. Naukar Ki Kameez (The Servant's Shirt) was his first novel, brought out in 1979 by the same publisher. Per Par Kamra (Room on the Tree), a collection of short stories, was brought out in 1988, and another collection of poems in 1992, Sab Kuch Hona Bacha Rahega.

Vinod Kumar Shukla was a guest littérateur at the Nirala Srijanpeeth in AGRA from 1994 to 1996 during which he wrote two novels Khilega To Dekhenge and the refreshing Deewar Mein Ek Khirkee Rahati Thi. The latter has been translated into English by Prof. Satti Khanna of Duke University as A Window Lived in a Wall.

कविताएँ

गाड़ी में पेट्रोल के साथ engine oil जो कार्य करता है, वही कार्य अन्य paathan के साथ शुक्ल जी की कविताएँ करती हैं - to cleanse the conscience!

प्राकृतिक। पेड़ पक्षी, फूल तितली। किरण अंधकार। सामाजिक। Suicidal. Depressing. Feelings of good for nothing. Serene. Deep. And as usual - abstract.

केवल जड़ें हैं - strong and concentrated.
हर पृष्ठ के बायीं तरफ उन्हीं की हस्तलिपि मुद्रित है।

1960-63 में लिखित - मगर अब भी उतनी ही relevant!

आज ही समाप्त की ये किताब ।श्री विनोद कुमार शुक्ल की कविताओं का संग्रह । कवितायें छोटी हैं और रोज़मर्रा की चीज़ो के आस पास केंद्रित हैं ।

इन्हीं चीज़ों में कवि जीवन का सार ढूँढते हैं । कहीं टहनियों में बदलाव, कहीं कपड़ों में नारीवाद और कई बार बंद कमरे में आत्मनिर्भर करते हैं ।

This book features Vinod ji’s unpublished works, both in his original handwriting and in printed form. Some of the poems are especially close to my heart. A good, short read!

This book can be a collectible for many reasons such as VKS' early and unpublished works or almost all poems in his own handwritings as well, but as far as poetry is concerned it was just ok.

विनोद कुमार शुक्ल से अब में इतनी प्रभावित हु की वे कुछ भी लिख दे में बड़े चाव से पढूंगी। हिमेशा की तरह यह किताब भी बड़ी पसंद आई मुझे।
