After risking everything for love, Hal and Meracad seem to have found security behind the stone walls of Hannac fortress. However, their fragile peace is about to be shattered and Hal's loyalties will be strained to breaking point as their enemies close in.

Seemed to have the formula for a great sequel: baby born, large battle, final showdown, daring rescue. So I was surprised I didn't really enjoy this book as much as the first one. Hal seems to have gotten a personality change in the sequel. She is arrogant, fool hardy, and immature making her not very likable. Still, the rest of book is decent and was a fitting conclusion.
This was a pretty good book. It had action with some seat clutching to the suspense of what was going to happen. There was also some tear jerking moments and finally a sigh of relief in the end.
