3.5⭐️ Interesting connection between the future and the past. The knowledge used to describe the battles, the gods, the weapons, definitely keeps you interested.

I had difficulty getting connected tonthe MC's. Their feelings toward each other almost felt forced in some ways. But the storyline, keeps you going. I think the story might have even worked without the subplot of romance. As the villian, though ... Kur's transformation throughout was put together well. I was rooting for him at every turn.

I found this author by chance and that cover absolutely drew me in. I love it!

The story was interesting, and I enjoyed Avery's reaction at the beginning. The fact she didn't want to believe was done so well.
It flowed well, and I loved the Sumerian mythology involved. I am a big mythology fan and these gods don't appear very often in books.
Some of the details really added to the story, such as the fighting postures and different swords. Well done! I learnt something new which was fun.

I really liked Turner, he was a great villain and I look forward to seeing what he gets up to next.

Overall, a great read and I would be very happy to continue the series.
