True Tales of Medicine, Mischief, and the Magic of Human Connection

“An unforgettable journey that reads like a conversation with your wisest, wittiest friend.”

In this candid memoir, Dr. Nicholas Orfan strips away the sterile veneer of medicine to reveal the comically unexpected, deeply affecting, and strangely magical moments of practicing medicine along with an everyman perspective on the human experience. His seamless blending of professional and personal makes this authentic and relatable portrait of a life fully embraced all seem so very personal.

This isn’t just another doctor’s memoir but rather a profound meditation on what it means to heal and be healed. Through his tales about coming-of-age to coping-with-age, facing fears and finding purpose, readers will ultimately discover that our shared humanity is the most powerful medicine of all. As both physician and fellow human being, Dr. Orfan reminds us that in the end, we’re all on the same journey for connection, understanding, and the courage to keep going.

This is a collection of vignettes from the life of the author. They are a mixture of joys and sorrows, but are told well. As he was a doctor, be warned that a few of these may not be suitable to be read while eating.
