Atticus O’Sullivan, last of the Druids, lives peacefully in Arizona, running an occult bookshop and shape-shifting in his spare time to hunt with his Irish wolfhound. His neighbors and customers think that this handsome, tattooed Irish dude is about twenty-one years old—when in actuality, he’s twenty-one centuries old. Not to He draws his power from the earth, possesses a sharp wit, and wields an even sharper magical sword known as Fragarach, the Answerer.

Unfortunately, a very angry Celtic god wants that sword, and he’s hounded Atticus for centuries. Now the determined deity has tracked him down, and Atticus will need all his power—plus the help of a seductive goddess of death, his vampire and werewolf team of attorneys, a bartender possessed by a Hindu witch, and some good old-fashioned luck of the Irish—to kick some Celtic arse and deliver himself from evil.

An exercise in memetic redditisms brought to life bookended with nerd emojis that lack self awareness.

By the end of the book I wanted to have the dog destroyed by the government and I love dogs and hate government.

Starts right after the last one, as Atticus and Granuaile begin their run across Europe to escape the Olympians. The usual mayhem.

The series continues past this, but by far the best series I've ever read.

This is like the Dresden files but with Druids rather than wizards. It's a nice adventure book, and the main character talking to the earth and his dog made it more wholesome and cute. It's a quick read but I probably should have stopped somewhere in the middle because I got kind of annoyed at the length, especially because the story doesn't finish within this bundle. While it does get a bit 'monster of the week' with each book, the overarching story is definitely very present and an integral part of the whole. I enjoyed the tone of the book, the main character is pretty irreverent and his dog (Oberon) is very funny. While the main character is supposed to be over 2000 years old, he made it a point to stay up to date on pop culture for all of those years, so he reads like a hip twenty something.

I was pretty uncomfortable with one scene where the main character has sex with a goddess he worships. It read a bit too much like rape to me, especially because she was using some magic to make him willing, and he says pretty clearly he's afraid. Then again he's 2000 years old and she's a goddess so I don't know. Her arc was very sad though.
