Circus of Sins – A Dark Romance ThrillerWelcome to the Circus of Nightmares. Here, secrets are currency, danger is a performance, and once you enter… you may never leave.
Janie has spent her life hiding in the pages of dark fantasies, longing for a world where passion is as dangerous as it is irresistible. But when a cryptic invitation arrives, luring her to a mysterious circus, she finds herself trapped in a performance far more twisted than fiction.
The Circus of Nightmares is no ordinary spectacle. It’s a living, breathing temptation, a place where every performer plays a role far darker than the audience could ever suspect. And Janie? She was never meant to be just a spectator.
Now, she belongs to the circus
🖤 Killian – The masked enigma. Obsessive, relentless, and dangerously fixated on her. He sees through her defenses, unraveling her piece by piece, and he won’t stop until she belongs to him—mind, body, and soul. 💀 Cassius – The brute force. A towering, brutal enforcer who speaks in violence. His loyalty is questionable, his morals even more so. He plays by his own rules, and Janie is caught in the crossfire. ‼️ Dante – The monster. Cold, cruel, and the true mastermind of the circus. He doesn’t just break people—he unmakes them, twisting their desires into weapons. And he has plans for Janie that go far beyond the show.
The circus wants to own her, ruin her, and remake her into something unrecognizable.
But Janie isn’t the fragile captive they expected. And if the circus wants to consume her, she’ll have to decide—will she escape? Or will she surrender to the darkness waiting to claim her?
For fans of dark romance, morally grey antiheroes, and high-stakes tension, Circus of Sins is an addictive enemies-to-lovers tale full of seduction, secrets, survival, and shadows.
(There is only one love interest. This is not a why-choose, but there is a bonus chapter at the end, which is MMMFF)

Natasha Wingfield is a romance author who weaves broken heroes, dangerous love, and seductive worlds into unforgettable stories.
When she’s not working, hitting the gym, or lost in the pages of a book (devouring dark romances, fantasy adventures, and anything deliciously smutty), you can find her dreaming up new worlds and wicked characters.
Her debut novel, Circus of Sins, invites readers to step into a world where secrets seduce and sins take center stage.
With many more stories brewing — spanning different genres and emotions — Natasha is just getting started.
Author review- Writing Circus of Sins has been one of the most terrifying, thrilling, and rewarding things I’ve ever done. This book is officially my debut novel, and putting it out into the world feels like sending a piece of my soul into the spotlight. It’s dark, seductive, and a little chaotic—just like the circus itself.
I know Circus of Sins may not be for everyone. It has its flaws, and I’m sure there are areas I could improve. But I’m still incredibly proud of what I’ve created. As my first book, it holds a special place in my heart—and I’ve learned so much through the process of writing, editing, and letting go of perfection.
This story is only the beginning. I already have so many more tales brewing—spanning different genres, characters, and emotional depths. I can’t wait to share more of them with you.
Thank you for stepping into my world. Whether you loved it or not, I’m just grateful you gave it a chance.
Circus of Sins by Natasha Wingfield is a bold and enticing debut that throws you into the heart of a circus that’s far more than it seems— twisted in the most compelling way. The writing is poetic and richly descriptive, adding an eerie beauty to the environment. The atmosphere is thick, dark, and completely absorbing.
The characters are layered and compelling—there’s one in particular who stood out for me with her strength and cleverness - Aria. The emotional journey the book takes you on is intense, twisted, and incredibly well-paced.
Now let’s talk about the smut... If you’re not into dark romance, this may not be your cup of tea—because this book is taboo and depraved in the best way possible. The spice is heavy, unapologetic, and will absolutely have you questioning, “Wait… am I into this?” more than once. It’s descriptive, dark, and commands your full attention.
That said, for a debut, this is seriously impressive. Natasha has crafted something raw and daring, and I can’t wait to see how she levels up in the next book. ❤️ 🎪 🔞
I was lucky enough to receive this as an ARC read & my opinions are my own. I wasn't sure at first with this book but the more I read, the more I got into it & enjoyed the world building & the descriptive nature Natasha seems to write in. I actually felt like I could envision the characters, the circus etc. This book is heavy on spice & it does come with its trigger warnings. Overall I found myself trying to race to the end to see how this could possibly end! I loved the characters of Killian, Aria & Janie & how strong the female characters were. There was alot of emotions explored in this book & I do have to say that for a first book, this is quite something 👌🏻 can't wait to see what other books Natasha comes out with!
I just want to quickly take a moment to thank the author for sending me a copy of this book. This book was beautifully written and was very descriptive and had a lot of details in it. However as someone who is very easily distracted I did really struggle with this book and kept having to reread pages to understand what was going on so I ended up not actually finishing the book. I’m really sad that this book wasn’t for me since the idea sounds amazing. But if you’re someone who enjoys classic literature and more poetic writing styles I can definitely see you liking this book!
The Circus of Nightmares is a dark, twisted fantasy romance that throws you headfirst into a world where secrets bleed, danger seduces, and power games are masked behind glitter and shadow. The premise is immediately compelling—a mysterious circus, a cryptic invitation, and a heroine who’s about to become more than just a spectator.
Janie is a relatable protagonist for readers who love dark fantasy and yearn for something more dangerous and delicious. Her descent into the circus’s world feels like a slow, spiraling seduction, and the tension is palpable. What really sets the book apart is the dynamic between Janie and the three men: Killian, Cassius, and Dante. Each brings a different flavor of obsession, and while the archetypes (the mask, the brute, the mastermind) are familiar, they’re executed with intensity and layered control.
That said, it leans heavily into tropes like the “possessive masked man,” the “morally grey enforcer,” and the “cruel puppet master”—which dark romance readers will either devour or roll their eyes at depending on taste. If you enjoy stories where the heroine is constantly teetering between power and vulnerability, lust and fear, this book delivers. However, those looking for deep world-building or emotional nuance might find the circus more spectacle than substance.
In short: this book is dark, seductive, and unapologetically over-the-top. It doesn’t pretend to be anything other than a deliciously wicked fantasy with teeth—and for fans of dark romance with obsession, captivity, and psychological power play, it might just be the perfect show.
This is my honest review in exchange for an ARC 🖤🫦
If you follow me you will know I have a penchant for reading new/debut authors. They have an exuberance, newness and excitement to them that comes across in their stories, that and I believe everyone has to start somewhere.
Our FMC Janie receives an invite to a circus, little does she know that she is about to become one of its attractions, as she is kidnapped and held against her will. This circus/cult however, differs from others where their main events are based upon pleasure and pain, building up their cult, thus our girls’ journey starts. Her attempts to push back are met with force, her need to escape aided by another captive are thwarted until Killian, one of the leaders within sees something in her he recognises. Thus the story leads us into an array of plotting, planning and fighting back against the odds.
For a debut novel, it stood out with its’ very descriptive narrative, which has a uniqueness to it. Now, for me it was quite repetitive, some specific words were overused and the continuity of parts just didn’t flow right within the context of the story. I didn’t really gel with any of the characters either, don’t go into this thinking it’s all about romance, it’s more to do with escaping and bringing down the cult. I’m not saying others wouldn’t love it, as it has a certain draw to it but for me I didn’t like elements of the story and it wasn’t anything to do with the pain or pleasure side (one of the reasons I read it), which started off as though it was going to be a large component of the main story but got lost in the ether of the cult.
This debut is dark, twisted and intense. I won’t look at a circus the same. The writing style was a little different for me, more poetic and it took a little bit to get used to. However, as I kept reading I became more engrossed in the story. The world building was impressive.
I love a strong FMC, and Janie became that. She started off broken but by the end she was a force to be reckoned with. I was intrigued by the MMCs, Killian, Cassius and Dante. They each have their own persona. I was drawn more to Killian, his obsessive and protective behavior towards Janie had me eating him up.
The descriptive writing had my senses heightened and was immersive. I felt if I reached out I could touch it. I was so enthralled I could visualize as if I was watching everything unfold and could feel the emotions. Seductive, spicy, addictive, intense and dark are all words I would use to describe this story. One that will not be easily forgotten. I feel it is a remarkable debut. I will certainly be on the lookout for upcoming releases by this author.
*Before reading, be responsible and check triggers warnings.
I recently received an ARC of Circus of Sins, and I must say, Natasha's writing is incredibly immersive. She crafts a richly detailed world that draws you right into the lives of her characters. This novel presents a spicy adventure, complete with content warnings, yet it delivers on every level.
Unlike your typical romance, Circus of Sins ventures into the realm of taboo and dark romance, prompting readers to question their own desires. The story is populated with strong, well developed characters that are vividly portrayed throughout the narrative.
As Natasha's debut novel, she has accomplished so much, and her talent truly shines in this captivating tale. She should be immensely proud of her work.
Well done Natasha on your first book!! It was amazing and you should be so proud of yourself for this 🧡 I really loved the lead characters as they really came together in the story and each of their own characters were amazing with their back story!!
I couldn't put it down once I had picked it up and I can't wait to see what you come up with for your next book! Well done 🧡
Bold, captivating and poetically written! This book had me by the throat, took me into the belly of the circus and didnt let go until it was done with me! As a debut, this was beautifully written in all the ways us book girlies devour! twisted, trigger warnings, the filthiest of smut. MMCs that will have you on your knees! I cant wait for more beautiful creations by this author ! 😍
This one was a trip—a velvet wrapped fever dream that left me blinking at the last page, wondering what I’d just wandered through. Circus of Sin is deeply atmospheric and almost aggressively descriptive. The language is detailed and strangely timeless, with a vintage feel that made it tough to place the era. Not quite historical, but definitely not rooted in the here and now either. Think: gothic opium dream with glitter and grit.
The synopsis had me geared up for a dark, seductive “why choose” scenario, but that’s not what this book delivered. If you're here for the romance, temper your expectations—it takes a backseat to the world itself. This story is less about hearts racing and more about the pulse of the tent walls, the dampness of the air, the slow, creeping dread that settles in the shadows.
That said, it’s not entirely chaste—there are moments that had me side-eyeing the page and questioning a few things about myself—but the heat is more of an undercurrent than the main event. The romance exists, but it’s not driving the story. The atmosphere is. I wanted more from the plot. It often felt secondary. I needed more momentum, more clarity, more something to latch onto beyond the vibes. That said, the characters carried themselves with strength and determination, even if I didn’t always feel deeply connected to their goals. They felt like parts of the dream—almost ephemeral—but with sharp edges that occasionally cut through the haze.
Overall, Circus of Sin is a mood. If you’re here for immersive settings, rich language, and that surreal, slightly unhinged carnival energy, this might be your thing. Just don’t go in expecting a romance-first narrative or a tightly woven plot because this one is all about the experience.
Circus of Sins is a compelling and dark read - you feel every emotion and scene within Natasha's expressive writing. I was gripped from the start and could imagine the sounds and smells of walking between the circus tents.
The romance is dark, incredibly descriptive, shocking and addictive - I'm fairly new to dark romance so don't have a point of comparison but I found that the spice level was balanced with a compelling plot and only added to the rawness of the characters.
The characters draw you in and develop meaningful relationships founded on trauma and survival - the ending solidifies the depth of their bonds and that the Circus of Sins is only the tip of the iceberg...
Guys… guess what I have again.. ANOTHER SLUMP. I cannot deal with it anymore and I was highly anticipating this book but feel because of the slump I didn’t enjoy this book like I thought I did.
At times it was hard to read and was zoning in and out of interest, but my interest peaked at the last 100 or so pages and therefore bumped up my rating from a 2 to a 3.
I was expecting this book to be more detailed and have much darker themes I wanted it to be pitched black. But I have to say, I love a strong FMC and this book with janie was one of them moments. I love seeing a woman gain her confidence and get revenge.
IF YOU IKE DARK ROMANCE READ THIS!!! I have to say this was written so well, and actually highlights issues that happen in the world we live in today! the women power that poured out of this book had my emotion heighten and made me even more proud of being a strong women myself. Janie one of the FMC was amazing throughout the book and I could feel her power and pain through the words written. I also love how the writer shows villains aren't always what they seem. brilliant book and so glad I found this wonderful indie author
I tried to read but it was too dark for me and not my kink. I will not be giving it an official rating nor doing a full review since I didn’t read it all. I skimmed through all of it though. Not enough for a review, just enough to get a scope that it’s too dark for me.
But let me tell you, if BDSM is your kink, you will most likely like it.
