From This Place: Recollections of the Lives of Women in the 20th Century

Rate this book
The stories in this book are the result of an International Year of Older Persons project known as "A Grandmother's Legacy" initiated by the Federated Women's Institutes of Ontario (FWIO). These legacies are nostalgic accounts that chronicle changes in people and places as these women experienced life in the 20th century. The voices that ring out from the pages are enhanced by period graphics and photographs.

Excerpt (edited):
This was where I was born and lived for 90 odd years.
From this place I went to school, married, raised a family, was widowed, employed, and retired.
From this place I lived among joys of children and from this place I felt sadness and loss.
From this place I lived through great changes, and from this place I lived the constants in the cycles of days and seasons.
