This was amazing! The first I’ve read from this author and it won’t be the last. I’ll be honest, it was more of a billionaire romance than a mafia, delving into the power side more than the violence, but still an amazing read.
We have our FMC - Piper, the sassy little minx who finds herself being stalked and questioning all morals when she rocks up for an interview at Blackwood Institute, where they use, some erm, questionable interview methods.
Enter our MMC - the CEO of Blackwood Institute, Lorenzo, stumbles across his little toy in a coffee shop and in true romance style, stalks her to the point of insanity and paves the way for the future together. Cute.
The flow of the story is second to none, the character development is so realistic and flowed perfectly. And I still can’t get over me, a Geordie, reading a book set in America, by a writer from Hartlepool 😂

I have a weakness for Mafia books, and this one did not disappoint. I have not read one in a while, but after finishing Enzo and Piper’s story, I think I’m now going to be on a Mafia kick for a while. It was funny (Cy and his smirky comments), dangerous, SPICY 🥵, and the storyline was Perfect and made sense.
I was drawn into this book within the first few pages and I couldn’t stop reading, even after taking breaks due to crazy adult life, I was itching to get back to it.
Enzo is dark, seductive, dominating in the most messed up but perfect way, but he also has his secrets..
Piper is SO much fun. She is smart, strong, and even with Enzo and his personality and who he is, she loves to fight back and tease him. The perfect little brat 😈
I can’t wait for the next books in this series and believe me, if you like your Mafia books spicy, intense and the perfect balance of Dark with random funny moments between characters, this is your book 💋

Lorenzo takes stalking to a whole new level when he decides Piper is his. Most of his actions I thought were typical of someone like him. And I was fine with Piper giving a little fight as she found out about each one though I would’ve put up a bigger fight over the cameras. I like the way their relationship developed even though Enzo didn’t give her much of a choice, alpha male all the way!

WOW! This was an incredibly dark, twisted and deliciously erotic story that had me instantly captivated, obsessed with the characters and melting into a sopping wet puddle!
Lorenzo and Piper are perfectly matched. He is dangerous, domineering, powerful, protective and a force to be reckoned with. Piper is fierce in her own way but knows when she needs to give in or when she should fight back. And with Lorenzo, she learns early that she must walk on a tightly controlled path or face his sinfully delicious punishments.
I could not get enough of the back-and-forth banter between them. It was filled with wittiness, danger, anger, passion, intense sizzling heat, and an aching need between them. The instant their eyes met you could feel the pull that was bringing them both together. And the chemistry was so explosive and so incredibly hot that it just oozed off the pages.
The spice contained within the pages of this story was so freaking hot, incredibly erotic, sensuous, and left me a sopping soaking mess.
The story was brilliantly written, with such amazing and unhinged characters that you instantly fall for, and with a storyline that was filled with so much heat, incredible passion, twists and turns throughout, and moments of danger that kept me on the edge of my seat turning the pages quickly to see how it would all end.

I'm not usually a fan of mafia romance, but this book truly turned my perspective around. It’s a compelling and passionate story that managed to break through my usual reservations and kept me hooked from start to finish.
Please be warned—this book contains dark content and sensitive themes, so I recommend checking the trigger warnings before diving in. That said, the story begins with a chance encounter between Piper and Enzo (Lorenzo), sparking a intense game of obsession, manipulation, and power. What starts as a dangerous dance quickly evolves into something deeper, with Piper becoming a willing participant rather than a naive bystander. Their chemistry is fiery and intense, leading to some truly steamy and hot scenes that kept me turning the pages.
Enzo is quite the anti-hero—dark, brooding, and complex—but in his own way, he's exactly what Piper needs, especially when it comes to protecting her. The character development is well-crafted, making their relationship feel authentic despite the high-stakes backdrop.
I also loved the supporting characters, particularly Lena. She added depth and warmth to the story, and I found myself hoping she might get her own book someday. OMG !!!!To say that I was not prepared for the Toy Collector , that I was not prepared for the Dark and Delicious and oh so steamy / emotional rollercoaster I was just taken on would have to be the biggest understatement. The Toy Collector is the first installment in B Lybaek’s ( The Russo Mafia Series and man did it start out with a bang !!! The way in which Piper and Lorenzo just completely captivated me from start to finish , alll the complexities in their relationship and the layers to their characters . And I have even mentioned all the twists and turns, the secrets , the intrigue and suspense, the moments that will have you literally sitting on the edge of your seat while devouring every word at a ungodly pace ( because yes it’s just that freaking addictive. Let’s just say I found myself reeling with so many different emotions, it literally felt like I was on the wildest ride at the amusement park. Together these two really were a force to be reckoned with . The things they went through and all the obstacles they endured to be together, in the end only made them stronger . Add into that the angst , the banter , the love , the passion , the pain , the danger , the anger , the family and friendships. Well all I’ll say is run as fast as you can , download this incredible book and prepare yourself for a ride unlike anything you’ve ever experienced before.

Holy moly, what an amazingly written dark romance. I could not put this book down. I loved the storyline; it was page-turning, and I devoured this book in one day, possibly at the expense of a few hours of sleep. This book is filled with drama, suspense, and scorching hot spice 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥. I thought the storyline was original and exciting. I loved the topes most of all. The obsessed MMC who has the touch her and 🔪 down to a tee, he is dark and broody with a few secrets. I loved how the FMC was feisty, independent, and had a little submissive streak. This book is a dark mafia romance and touches on dark themes and topics. Check the CW to make sure this is a book for you. I love B. Lybaek's writing; she created a fun and exciting world and filled it with characters that are interesting and have an intense and undeniable chemistry.
Piper is smart, determined, and missing something in her life. I loved her attitude and how she went for what she wanted. Lorenzo is a total Alpha. He was intimidating to certain people and loyal to his family. I enjoyed their dynamic in this story. Absolutely loved this book - Enzo and Piper's eyes catch briefly across a cafe and that is it, Enzo makes Piper his new obsession because anything he wants to control, he collects. Piper is concentrating on her last year studying and needs an internship quickly but why is she constantly being turned down? Just before her deadline, she receives an email inviting her for an interview, and well, let's just say I have never read an interview like that before!
What follows is a well written dark mafia romance, with all the stalker, obsessive, possessive and controlling vibes from Lorenzo. I absolutely loved how Piper slowly unravelled the truth but being such a strong character, it didn't phase her. The chemistry was off the charts as was the humour. I cannot wait to see where this talented author takes us next, especially with the other two side characters.

The chemistry between Lorenzo and Piper ? Unmatched. The tension, the pace, the storyline ? Everything was so well written. I loved loving this couple, with their high and low. Finally a FMC who doesn’t back down when challenged, who knows what she wants and takes it no matter what. A MMC who would burn the world down just to see his love smiling, who LOVES taking care of everything for her.
If you love book filled with tension, main characters who don’t shy away from what they want and mainly a FMC who’s not spineless, who’s quick witted, smart and ambitious. Just read this book and enjoy it thoroughly!
Oh and be careful, you’ll feel hot all over with the way the intimate moment between Piper and Lorenzo are so well written 🤭

Lorenzo Russo is the kind of villain you know you should run from—but you don’t. He’s calculated, obsessive, and so dangerously in control that you can’t help but lean in closer. The way he studies her, stalks her, owns her—it’s intense in the best, most messed-up way.
The power imbalance is undeniable, but that’s exactly what makes the dynamic so magnetic. There’s something deeply psychological here—how he uncovers her desires before she even understands them herself. And the writing doesn't flinch from the darkest parts of that connection.

Wow. Another fabulous, engaging story - just like all the stories from this author it is engaging, and full of feelings, twists and turns and a world that is enthralling and captures the readers attention from the opening pages. This one is about Piper and her venture into politics and the hidden rulers that run the world with senators and presidents as their puppets. As soon as Lorenzo lays eyes on her, he is obsessed and determined to make her his leading lady to rule by his side. I loved how his obsession made him weak at the knees from the moment their eyes met and how he would do anything in his power to keep her safe and make her his. I loved how she grew into her role by his side and nothing could deter her, not even the reality of his mafia life. Another great read!

Enzo is one of the most intense male characters I’ve ever encountered. He stalks Piper to extremes and uses everything at his disposal to learn about her and claim her as his own. It’s both intense and incredibly engaging.
Piper is strong, confident, and driven, but Enzo quickly shifts her world to suit his desires. You can sense her struggle to regain control, and once she finds her footing, it’s truly inspiring.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book; it is delightfully dark and twisted, and the romance is well-written and incredibly steamy. The characters feel strong and real, and they work excellently together.
Any fan of dark mafia romance will love this book—it's definitely worth a read!

I think this is my favourite book by this author… so far! I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough!
Enzo just exudes dominance, confidence and power. He is a master manipulator and expects the world, and everything and everyone in it, to bend to his will. He just refuses to take “No” for an answer. As for his interviewing and mentoring skills.. well, what a unique skill set he has! His stalkerish activities know no bounds and there’s absolutely no escape for Piper once she’s caught Enzo’s attention and becomes his sole focus, even though, initially, she’s oblivious to what’s happening.
There’s a definite undercurrent of mystery and tension during the first part of the book. In addition, every interaction between Enzo and Piper is scorching hot, especially once Piper admits to what she wants. Through it all, Enzo helps build Piper’s confidence until she becomes powerful in her own right and a worthy partner for him.
There’s an excellent set of side characters too, with one in particular bringing a touch of humour to the proceedings!

If you're a fan of mafia romance with a dark twist, The Toy Collector might just scratch that itch. B. Lybaek delivers a steamy, tension-filled story that centers around Piper and Enzo — a pairing that brings both intensity and vulnerability to the forefront. Their chemistry is electric, and the development of their relationship is one of the book’s strongest points.
The smutty scenes are well-written and plentiful, adding heat without overwhelming the plot. However, the overall story could have used a bit more depth and polish to fully land its impact, which is why it's a solid 3.5 stars. Still, if you're here for the mafia vibes and spicy romance, this one delivers.

This was a very interesting story. It's dark, twisted, and suspenseful. I enjoyed it very much. If you like morally grey men, then Enzo is your guy.
I will say this: in the beginning, when Piper is having her interview, the type of questionnaire asked is very unrealistic, but it serves the story well. The political side of it reminds me too much of what's actually happening in our government today.
The dynamic relationship between Enzo and Piper reminds me of a Dom and a submissive type of relationship. He has her doing things that's for both their pleasure, but more so his. He teaches her what it means to hold power. In all types of scenarios.

I genuinely liked this book. LOVED the vibes coming off of Lorenzo; loved his ridiculous stalker obsessive behavior, loved the ‘touch her and die’ vibes… however, two things gave me the ‘ick’ in this book.
First and foremost, the “blind folded, get down on your knees, and get fingered for/in a job interview”, just…. ew. And what?!?! The fact that the FMC didn’t balk, question, or rip the blind fold off, seemed so unrealistic, unbelievable, and asinine. Even in the “book world” that seemed fake. That scene was also incredibly jarring.
Secondly, the politics. I just… I can’t…with everything going on right now, I don’t need more evil political crap in my life.

Oh my goodness! If you like a story that is dark and the man is obsessive, possessive, and overprotective, you will enjoy this.
From the first part of the story strange and frightening incidents start occurring to the Piper. She was frustrated, angry, self-doubting herself, and frightened at the beginning until the story unfolded itself to her.
That extra twist thrown into the story had my heart pumping.

Instant obsession, stalking, dubious consent and touch her and be destroyed. Piper was fantastic, a girl who knew what she wanted and went after it. Her interview was amazing, but what I really loved were her reactions as she went further down the rabbit hole that was Enzo. She claimed power for herself, and Enzo was with her all the way, her support network may have been small, but they were there when it mattered.
This was also incredibly hot, the scenes were fantastic and I’ve never wanted to identify myself as a toy before, but I sure want to now!

I really enjoyed this book and the banter between the FMC and MMC. Mafia vibes, touch her and die, she’s mine. Lorenzo knew what he wanted and took steps to ensure he got what he wanted in a slightly unorthodox manner. Piper didn’t know what hit her lol. She gave push back a lot and it was hilarious I loved her she was one of those FMC characters you respected because she just got on with things and expected nothing in return. I loved how Lorenzo adored her.

Whewwww Lorenzo takes stalking to a whollllle other level. Dark and absolutely delicious.If you haven’t given B. Lybaek a try but love dark romance you have seriously been missing out. Bought by Santa was my first book I read by the author and I’ve been hooked ever since. Enzo is the perfect alpha male who does not share his toys. 😏 The interview (IYKYK, if not you need to read)😮💨😮💨 A little under 300 pages and this baby is PACKED with spice. Please check the trigger warnings. I just know you will enjoy Piper and Lorenzo as much as I did.
