Fifteen years after a steamy tryst during her study abroad program, Morgan Ryder's structured life is thrown into disarray when Alex, her mysterious one-night fling, unexpectedly reenters her world as the pilot for her company. The sparks between the two women still sizzle as intensely as that long-ago night when they parted ways, their full identities shrouded.
Alex's sudden reappearance forces Morgan to confront unresolved desires and shocking truths that threaten to upend her stable world. Her trusted friend and business partner, Sean, harbors a shattering secret, while their once-steady company faces unforeseen upheavals that echo the turmoil in Morgan's heart.
Caught between passion and pragmatic choices, Morgan finds herself on the brink of awakening. Will she take a chance on Alex and the intoxicating allure of the unknown? Or will fear hold her back from embracing the life - and love - she truly wants? Set against a backdrop of betrayal, sensual discovery, and hard-won transformation, Morgan must decide whether to follow the rhythmic beat of her heart or play it safe and live with the weight of unexplored possibilities.
Emma Langston hails from the Southeast but currently lives in New England. She thoroughly enjoys the winter weather and appreciates that it gives her an excuse to stay indoors, wrapped in a heated blanket, and placate her voracious appetite for reading.
When she's not tapping the keys on her laptop or busy indulging her utterly adorable dogs and wife, she binges on HGTV, disaster shows, and stand-up comedy. She also excels at the craft of planning elaborate and meticulous trips to places she will never visit because she would rather write about an adventure than have to go outside for one.
Read this one just because I didn't have anything else interesting to read. Basically this is a duplicate of EJ Noyes Turbulance. Not sure why this author would write something so similar. Just perplexed about it. If you read Turbulance no need in reading this one.
This is my first book by Emma Langston. It was ok. I loved the premise, the way it was written. But overall, It felt dry to me. I will try another book by this author in the future.
There is something softly beautiful about these women that touches the heart. They are able to overcome patterns of behavior long held because love makes all of that irrelevant. They do not run away but break through to one another in a way that does not destroy, but mends, and the author describes it beautifully and tenderly.
I don't mind telling you that approximately 75-80% of the way through the book I damn near stopped reading it. I was angry. I was angry that something like this could actually happen. But I kept reading and I'm glad I did. So, I'm telling you to not give up if you feel the way I did when you get to that point.
"Takeoff" is an excellent book with interesting characters. It's got some unsuspected twists and turns, and never fails to engage interest. Morgan and Alex are both easy to understand and root for. They are special people and the author has imbued them, and a few additional characters, with special heartwarming qualities. You'll like them.
A 5🌟 for this amazing love story. Just a pity it took them 15 years to reconnect. A good read and 😔 for family loss from both MC's but does have a HEA. Not much focused on their love scenes but im looking forward to read more of the authors books.
I really liked "Takeoff", it was fun to read and kept my interest.
I really liked Alex's character, and I certainly wanted to smack Sean. But in the end, his decisions as wrong as they were, ultimately is what Morgan needed to make her own choices for her future.
Just no. If you want to read a book with hardly any dialogue between the characters then this book is for you. Morgan, CEO and worried about her money and worried about people taking it, turn off. Obviously she’s not a good judge of character.
