Heroine, Zoe fled the Australian outback to London when she was twenty, leaving behind her roots and the love of her life, Hero, Jonas....who she found cheating on her in their 'special place'! Fast forward ten years and Zoe is summonsed back to the outback and has to face her fears and Jonas again, but this time she has a secret. Will she tell Jonas about there daughter, Lily or not?
This is my third Ann B Harrison book and I adored it as much as the last two (Taming the Outback and Red Hot). Harrison has a wonderful way with words and I found the story flowed effortlessly and naturally. The characters are realistic and the storyline is believable and sucks you in from the start. The descriptions are fantastic and several times I could imagine myself in the outback with the sun beating down on my skin. It's a real talent to make people 'feel' something when reading and with these two characters thats exactly what I did. Instantly I was rooting for the feisty Zoe and on her side. How could Jonas cheat on her - the dirty dog! But as the story unfolds, it all becomes clear. There are some scenes are scorching but more over I really liked the actions between Zoe and Jonas, the every day life on the estate, the mustering, how tender he is with her when she has one of her panic attacks, etc, which helps the reader create a picture of the characters and the emotional connection between them. I'm all for a happy ever after and this book offers a really lovely one at that.
Praise for Ann B Harrison! I'm looking forward to reading more from this lady.
