When fate conspires repeatedly to throw together kindhearted nurse Ella Reynolds and deliciously sexy documentary filmmaker Aaron James, it's not long before this unlikely couple finally gives in to their irresistible chemistry. Their hearts might be locked away, but what does it matter when it's only a fling…?
Spending time and saving lives together is bound to break down barriers. Yet with so much heartbreak and loss to overcome, can their fling ever lead to forever?
Lover of funny stuff, steamy stuff, and Campari. Gin too. Okay - and wine. And cheese. Doer of courses. Travel tragic. Italian wannabe. Eater extraordinaire but does not cook. Avid shoe collector.
Avril writes about complex characters and challenging issues in a genre which frequently offers a one dimensional version of relationships and people. Sometimes, that makes for hard reading; but ultimately Avril’s stories are emotionally satisfying and enjoyable. This is one such example.
Ella and Aaron don’t fall into instant lust and their story is a circuitous and difficult one - but I loved it!
Ella is a difficult character to like initially despite the fact that she is such an admirable person working as a nurse in some of the most deprived and needy areas in the world, risking her own life and enduring so many tragedies. The writer does not flinch from the minutiae of tragedy and Imthough it added extra depth to the story.
There were times I wanted to give Ella a good shaking especially when she got engaged to Javier!!!
Aaron was a good guy who really cared for everyone, and I loved the way he recognised his feelings for Ella long before she properly recognised hers. I loved the humour in the story too - even in the midst of horror, it’s possible to smile.
Highly recommended. Would have given it 5 stars had there been an epilogue. I was left desperately wanting to see how Aaron and Ella would have built their family and their life together over the next 5 or more years.

This book was really quick but also very fun. There are some heavier topics mentioned in this book such as drugs and death but we don't delve into it too much. Gosh...just thinking back I can't believe how much action was stuffed into one book. But I thought the pacing was great and the story line was always moving forward.
The only reason that I didn't give this five stars was that there were a few parts that didn't seem very realistic. Whether it was a situation or a character's actions, I just didn't buy it. But other than that I thought it was really good.
We also did learn a little here and there about medicine, more specifically malaria and dengue fever. So I thought that was not only interesting but also surprising considering the cover. I know you're not suppose to judge a book by its cover, but it just seemed like such a fluffy read that I couldn't help it. But after finishing I know that it does have real substance to it as well.
The romance was really sweet and I really liked the way it developed. It wasn't really love at first sight, they worked their way up to that.
My first read by Avril Tremayne and I thoroughly enjoyed it! Instantly fell in love with Aaron and could hardly wait for Ella to do the same. Recommend this book for anyone who enjoys contemporary romance!
Loved the large print for people with sight problems loved the cover and found it so realistic how you've described her longing for a child and seeing children not treat properly or ill and being helpless being so distressing and loved the romance to she got her happy ending with aaron :) such a sweet book really enjoyed it
From Fling to Forever is by Avril Tremayne. It is a medical romance. The setting is in Cambodia and London. Ella Reynolds is living in a fog. Her life the last three years has gone from bad to worse and she can’t seem to figure out how to get past it. On her twenty-fifth birthday, her new lover, Javier, a Spanish doctor she was working with in Somolia was kidnapped. Nothing has been heard from or about him. On her twenty-sixth birthday, the little Cambodian boy, Sann, whom she was planning to adopt, died of malaria while she was in the States trying to see how to go about adopting him. Now on her twenty-seventh birthday, she is playing pool and drinking with a British Engineer in Cambodia when she is interrupted by Aaron James, a friend of her sister’s, and then comes down with dengue fever. She is through with birthdays! Her life is a mess and she doesn’t need someone like Aaron James around to carry tales to her sister. Nor does she need the complication of Aaron’s adopted son, Kiri, who is Cambodian. Aaron James is in Cambodia making a documentary film about malaria. He is seeking a way to save lives by publicizing how it is spread and how it can be cured. He is doing this because Kiri had malaria and Aaron doesn’t want any other child to have to go through it. While in Cambodia, he runs into Ella whom he met at her sister Tina’s wedding to his friend Brand. Sparks flew when he first saw her; but upon meeting her, he wasn’t sure about her. She seemed cold and unfriendly and very cynical. If that is the case, then why does he look her up while in Cambodia? With a drug addicted ex-wife, a young boy, and a career to juggle, what does he need with a cynical Ella as well? They run into each other again at Tina and Brand’s house in London. Ella is there to care for Tina who is pregnant while Brand is making a film. Aaron is in London with Kiri to star in Brand’s film. They both end up staying with Tina and Brand. Sparks do fly now. Can they be cordial to each other for Tina and Brand’s sake? Will Ella’s guilt over not being with Javier when he was kidnapped stand between them? Will Rebecca, Aaron’s ex-wife come between them?
I have always been a huge fan of flings that lead to forever, so of course this title had me from the start.
I am use to reading this author's HQ Kiss line books and those I must tell you are simply brilliant, full of life and vibrant energy.
As far as HQ Medicals go it is a very small list of selected few authors that have made it onto my auto-reading list. After reading From Fling to Forever this author has ticked all the boxes required to make my HQM list.
In this read fate conspires repeatedly to throw together kindhearted nurse Ella Reynolds and the very delicious sexy documentary filmmaker Aaron James, and it's not long before this very unlikely couple give in to their super hot chemistry.
Both have their hearts locked firmly away but who cares it's only a fling so no harm , just some hot and sexy fun, right?
This read was both quick and fun, even with the entire sadness of the dreadful disease Malaria rearing it's ugly head, the romance and sizzle between the main characters kept it light enough to not let me feel as if I was missing the escape into romance feeling I craved.
From the author's previous books I have learned that her characters are usually these wild and out of place kind that shock you on every page, a fact I simply adore, am happy to say she has done the same this time. Each time I was surprised at the actions , and yes I yelled out more than once for them to both just get it together, simply riveting reading !
I am taking away a message of how our past can lead to us losing out on the chance of a lifetime, as they say regret always comes too late. Of course we all have regrets, but in life there is always a second chance, the trick is to act upon that second chance instead of walking away with yet another regret, because let's face it a third chance doesn't come along. Act now, live life.
I recommend this read for all fans looking for a fun and sexy afternoon read with a touch of reality and great emotion.
4.5 star review " Opening the door to the future, is easy if you can leave the past outside"
Nice title and cover like a adult princess story and they all lived happily ever after. Really liked the book and it was a quick read also liked the large print for those who have sensory problems not seen many like it well done very thoughtful and a lovely romantic book
"From Fling to Forever" by Avril Tremayne is a medical romance that deals with the life of Nurse Ella Reynolds and Actor/Documentary star Aaron James. Ella is running away from her personal issues. Aaron was there to do a job. Their paths cross more than once in Cambodia and in London. Tina, Ella's sister, and Brand, Tina's husband, are friends with Aaron. Aaron and Brand work together.
Ella is trying to drown herself in her work so she doesn't become attached to the people around her. When Kiri, Aaron's adopted son gets sick while they're on location Ella becomes more involved with Aaron. Aaron is trying to live his life, take care of his son, and also take care of his ex-wife who is a drug addict. It doesn't help that Ella's boyfriend Javier, who was abducted is back into the mix a few years after he went missing.
The drama of this book is a fast paced, enjoyable read. I didn't want to put the book down. What I really enjoyed is getting to know the depth of the characters as the author does a great job in describing them, their lives, and what brought them to the present.
I have won this book from the goodreads giveaway, in return I give me honest opinion. On Ella birthday for the past 2 yrs terrible things have happen. She wants to keep herself occupied so she won't be able to think what has happen. Aaron is filming a documentary where she volunteer her time to help but, they end up having feeling towards eachother but not quite sure what to do with their feeling. But Lindsey boyfriend have return back from missing for 2 yrs. She have feeling for both men Javier and Aaron
This book has everything one would expect from a Mills & Boon Medical romance. There's a feisty, independent heroine and a dishy hero who is a friend of the family. In supporting roles there are a pregnant sister (yes, expect some drama there!) a supportive brother-in-law, and an adorable little boy. There are various ups and downs in various global locations, but needless to say, there is a happy ending. A nice light, happy, pleasurable read.
I received this book for free through Goodreads First Reads so thank you so much to Goodreads and Avril Tremayne for sending this out to me. It is much appreciated.
This was just a great, quick, fluffy, romantic read - the type that used to be my bread and butter.
I enjoyed the setting and the characters (and learning a little about dengue fever and malaria).
If you are looking for something enjoyable to read that is quick and easy then this book is for you.
I received a copy of this book from the Firstreads give-away through Goodreads. I loved it! The author made me feel like I was in the story, it was so descriptive. The characters are so believable and so relatable. I will definitely seek out more by Avril Tremayne!
Stayed up late to finish the story. Want to read it again!
What a great book with a great story line to it. Lots of heartbreak to overcome in this ladies life. Can she find happiness or will she push it away and live in misery for the rest of her life? You'll just have to read it to find out. Wonderful!
Hmmm what should I tell?? About the way it makes u feel connected heart ache soar and cry and laugh and be content? I don't know may be I will talk about reading it about 9 times now and still feel all goey...
This book was my first ever medical romance. I read it because I love Avril Tremayne's books and her style of writing. I enjoyed this book, it ticked all the boxes but (and yes, there is a but), it made me realise that while I used to enjoy 'regular' M&B romances like this one is, I am now way more into the sexier version of romance. Which this one isn't. So 5 stars because I really did enjoy it, the characters were well-rounded and not at all 2 dimensional, the story line made sense and I got really into it.
It was just okay for me. I enjoyed it but there was nothing amazing to it. There was nothing to make me want to read it again. It was also unbelievable in parts as well. I know it's fiction but plausibility is a little important. I can overlook one thing but not numerous instances.
This could be a movie! This is a grand, romantic, deep story that is very timely right now. I was moved by the depth of the characters. A great romance by an author that shows a lot of range in her writing.
