Breaking out of the galaxy's toughest prison is impossible. Breaking in is insane...

Trev Corvus thought it would be an easy job. Just hack an orbital data vault before it crashes into a planet. But things get personal when the stolen files reveal a shocking link to Dax Haldari, an alien commander who saved Trev's life in the war.

Dax is now an inmate of the infamous Zero Point, a hellish prison built to hold the galaxy’s most wanted. Breaking into this ultra-max facility will take a miracle, even for a ghost jumper with a synthetic canine copilot. But for Trev, abandoning the only man who ever showed him an ounce of kindness isn’t an option.

To pull off a daring rescue, Trev will have to gather a crew, navigate a deadly gravity well, and find a weak spot in the prison’s defenses. But only one soul has ever escaped Zero Point and managed to survive. Vita Delgado, Trev’s ex-copilot. And ex wife.

Too bad the last time he saw her, she tried to blast him in the back…

A. A. Warren – Recipe for a Space Fantasy Author:

Mix one part Star Wars with one part Star Trek. Stir in liberal amounts of Conan the Barbarian (books, movies, comics… all varietals.) Toss with Dune, Flash Gordon, Dungeons & Dragons, and Saturday morning cartoons. Add a pinch of video games, and season to taste with comic books, Steven King novels, B-Movies, and whatever speculative entertainment you have on hand. Let simmer in a New Jersey suburb until partially mature, then finish in La La Land, Southern California.

Sear with Godzilla’s atomic breath. Serve chilled with a beer and cheese platter.

Regretable actions lead to desperate situations this was discovered after agreeing to carry a load . Great storyline with characters you can love and hate.

I've read other books by A.A. Warren and so went into Escape Vector sure I'd get a highly readable, fast paced sci-fi action adventure, and oh boy, did it live up to that expectation! I was entertained and fully immersed while tearing through it. The writing style was incredibly accomplished, building strong imagery, and the worldbuilding so well crafted that everything just felt real. Want some green skinned aliens? Sure. Gravity bombs? Why not? Mysterious propulsion systems? Absolutely. It all works.

Almost from page one Trev, the damaged but soft-hearted MC, and his offsider, synth dog, Baxter, were pulled into helping someone from their past - Trev tries to project tough guy but his heart is tarnished gold! I wanted to cheer him on while simultaneously taking away his 'car keys' for his own good because he just does not know what personal safety means, especially when someone he cared about was in danger. He really is a fun yet complex protagonist. The secondary characters were always tough and usually have dry humour as their second language, a feature I delighted in. Found family is a trope within each book, which I love, even though each 'family' unit vanishes after the final page.

This is a snappy, convincing, intense and suspenseful story and an incredible addition for this series. Highly recommended.

Short review: Pick this one up and read it. It's one of the best sci fi books I've read this year!

Tray Corvus and his canine synth copilot Baxter are back with Corvus' ship, the ghost jumper Shadow Hawk, and the action doesn't let up! Kicking off with an information heist that true to form goes pyrokinetic, Corvus is drawn into a high stakes conspiracy with threads leading back to his civilizational-shattering war that shaped his life. It was a blast both to go on this adventure, and get more of a look into this universe's history and inner workings.

The author pulls off some incredible breakneck action, with some incredibly innovative starfighter space combat, but the most delightful aspect is the characters. I love these characters and can't get enough of them. Even somewhat side characters like Rastor, the continually-cloned gangster, gets an arc of sorts, and I can't wait to see what the future has in store for upcoming versions of this guy!

It's trite these days to bring up the likes of Han Solo and Mal from Firefly, but that's exactly the feel I get when meeting Trey for another adventure. This series definitely needs more attention, so pick it up and enjoy the ride. You'll love it!

After trying to hack into a data vault, Trev Corvus learns that his old mentor Dax is still alive and held in the most high secure prison in the galaxy. Obstacles like that never stopped Trev before and they for sure won't do so this time. Jump into a high speed, action packed SF story, you'll enjoy from start to finish. Just make sure to buckle up before you start. Fantastic SF entertainment again from A.A. Warren. Keep them coming!

Although this doesn't match Talon we still have a great space adventure with expected universe build from Warren. The down on your luck space jockey pilot isn't new and has been played many times since Han Solo tho I love this slightly darker take on the characters and events. Worthwhile space yarn for those who enjoy the series or enjoy something slightly different.
