This is a speculative history of the relationship between Leonardo da Vinci and his assistant, known as Salai. Da Vinci left land and a house to Salai, even though Salai was a known thief and grifter. This book suggests that Salai's wild and impulsive personality was appreciated by the master as a counterbalance to his own withdrawn and somber one
DNF: I've decided I'm not a fan of this author's writing style. I've read other books written by her and they're just okay. I was trying to find a historical fiction on Leonardo for a class and I felt this just started off with crude humor that I felt wasn't necessary.
