Historian Cameron Thorne knows as much about the lost Templar treasure as anyone. Which makes him an ideal test subject in an macabre plot to download knowledge into a supercharged Artificial Intelligence model with an eye toward locating the treasure. Under hypnosis and truth serum, Cam has no choice but to cooperate. But he doesn't expect the model to link the missing treasure to obscure Biblical passages hinting at visitation by ancient aliens. Nor does he expect the model to attempt to destroy his life.
Based on actual historical sources, and illustrated.
Publishers Weekly says of the author, "BRODY DOES A TERRIFIC JOB OF WRAPPING HIS RESEARCH IN A FAST-PACED THRILL RIDE."
This is a stand-alone novel with recurring characters. The books in this series can be read in any order.
David S. Brody is a Boston Globe bestselling fiction writer named Boston's "Best Local Author" by the Boston Phoenix newspaper. A graduate of Tufts University and Georgetown Law School, he is a former Director of the New England Antiquities Research Association (NEARA) and is an avid researcher in the subject of pre-Columbian exploration of America. He has appeared as a guest expert on documentaries airing on History Channel, Travel Channel, PBS and Discovery Channel.
This is yet another absorbing book in the series. I liked how current the story was with the political scene, and this just added to making the narrative more believable. Although it is a work of fiction, woven around some real-life artefacts, some of the narrative certainly gets the reader thinking "I wonder if...". The inclusion of AI as a major part of the story gave some indication of how potentially dangerous this sort of technology could become. The introduction of past alien visits to our planet, coupled with AI, leaves me feeling intrigued as to what direction the next book in the series might take. I obviously await the next book with interest!
Been with this series since the first book. But of late, the chapters have gotten to long, where there is always a lot going on, but nothing much ever happens. Time to move on in hopes of finding something as good as this series used to be.
This is my first book in this series. I hadn't heard of it but I was willing to take a shot on a free book to read. It really was interesting as it started out with history then make believe kind of things out there but it got really out of hand. The idea and history of making a story behind the Templars is always a good thing because it leaves room for mystery and excitement and who knows what. However, this series had a lot to be desired. I'm not a fan of a bunch of bad words. Nor do I care about the intertwining of religion and Templars and Aliens etc. For a while it caught my interest but it went from interesting to where it just really dropped off the edge. My suggestion is read at your own risk. I may be biased based on how I read books but this was not one that I will give five stars to.
How do you feel about the combination of Greenland and her minerals, the Knights Templar hidden treasure, cryonics, ETs, friends of the president, totally unexpected events, and AI? I bet you can’t figure out ‘who done it’ until it is revealed. This novel has it all including truth serum, interrogation, murder, abduction, and blackmail. Even though this is Brody’s most recent book his Knights Templar in America series, it is also a stand alone novel. As always, Brody is a master of character development, not too much but just enough. Of course there are new characters; however, Cam, Shelby, Astarte, Mathias, & of course Venus continue their journey. Enjoy the nuances of unique combinations of factors. Imagination, I think not.
I've been reading since the start of this series and still maintain that the first book is among the best written, most convincing works of historically inspired fiction I have ever read. Recent entries to the series have been hit and miss though and this one is really the worst. The plot is ridiculous and full of holes; the twists were far too easy to spot; and the ending was more a case of the story stopped than concluded. Bruce is not a compelling villain and the closing threat of him hounding Cam and Shelby (who has, by the way, become Amanda 2.0 at this point) made me even less excited and intrigued for future installments. 20 books - a good run but time to move on.
We all have our reputations without them our world could be mashed
A great adventure/thriller. Cameron's life has moved on since losing Amanda his late wife, he is now with Shelby, and her ex boyfriend Bruce is not happy, he blames Cam for taking her away from him, he intends to ruin Cams reputation but that's not all he wants "The Templars" treasure and he thinks Cam knows where to find it. A great page turner a big twist sends you thinking elsewhere you got to be a good detective and have a clever mind to work this one out. Highly recommend fantastic D.S.B.
I thought that this was an ordinary read. I had a few issues with this story, none more so than around the credibility of the behaviour of the protagonists in the various conflict situations they found themselves in. Fast paced, with a good conspiracy, an interesting aspect of the story for me was all the Templar information and rumours that the author had incorporated into the story line.
Action packed adventurous read. Mr. Brody you have a great talent that revolves around historical areas and events, you are by far one of my favorite authors, keep up the great work.
A complex, nuanced tale of greed, violence, revenge and retribution. Fasten your seatbelt for a fast paced tense adventure that goes full throttle from the beginning to the end!
An interesting beginning to this book for it’s about the Templars. Woven into their mystique one finds a love, suspense and drama story evolving. Well crafted but I wanted more Templar intrigue, theory or information. I’m glad all turned out well but I expected more Templars!
I do like this series a lot. This story is good but, I’m getting the feeling that, the author rushed this one a little bit. I hope this is temporary and that the next episode is as well written as the earlier books.
I have read 17 of the books in the Templar series and have enjoyed the family style. But this book had more sex than necessary. It really spoiled the story.
A lot of stress and suspense, but in the end the good guys win and bad guys lose. The AI angle appears to re-inforce my opinion that AI has potential, but not ready to rule the world.
