OUTSIDE TEMPTATION

Former noblewoman Lysithea Del Arman is on the run for her life, but has been waylaid at an abandoned mansion with her broker, Taron Cardis. Thanks to a raging snowstorm, she’s narrowly missed her opportunity to leave the country by boat and must now wait until spring. But at least with Taron, Lysithea feels safe. Safe from the horrors of the outside world, and especially from Phantom, the assassin who’s been hired to kill her. Losing herself in Taron’s embrace, Lysithea can’t help falling deeper in love with him—until a stranger arrives at the mansion. Taron, ever careful, wants him dead. But Lysithea can’t bring herself to kill…even if it puts her own life in danger.

Despite the emphasis on their physical relationship, acting as a married couple in front of their new housemate (Mr. Hoplander), and Lysithea's confession, Taron continues to be a mystery. He acts cold and like everything is a contract, but there's no denying he does show an unusual amount of care at occasional moments with Lysithea that don't seem to match the narrative. There seems to be more to Mr. Hoplander than lets on as well, which isn't entirely unexpected given his position as a detective. Just what did he mean by wanting to "save" Lysithea, and why is he so intrigued by the third floor?

This was ok. The sex scenes were kind of cheesy and the romance part of it is so so to me. Lysitheas love confession was extremely cringe worthy and Tarons response to it I could’ve done without.

What really sells this story for me was the arrival of Mr Hoplander and the talks of the third floor of the manor.

Needless to say I’m invested enough that I want to progress but I really need this couple to get better because right now their dynamic doesn’t interest me at all.

I can see how this volume would be more enjoyable than the first. The plot ramps up a bit on this one, and gives a bit more intensity on their interactions together.

But it makes me curious how there is about 20 more chapters left to this story at where it left off.

Art is still lovely, and I can call it a passing time, neither bad or great.

Nothing ground breaking in terms of plot but enjoyable on it's own, the art really sells the vibe. I will be rereading it. And possibly buying it in physical form.
