Volume 2: (Chapter 6-10)

Sniping...the perfect shot of his fave idol is only possible for Endo with his previous assassin training, and he will stop at nothing (even faking his own death) to support his bias.

The series really gets going in this second volume. The retired hitman, Owaru Endou, is ordered to return to his crime organisation, but he’s not going quietly and now he has everyone after him. He doesnt’t care. He’s on a mission to help his favourite girl group and his favourite member, Kaorin, to win an important music competition, this time sighting through a camera lens instead of a rifle finder.

This is a fun mix of very serious and violent yakuza action and silly antics of dedicated full-time stanning. The art reflects the two sides well too: the girls are drawn cutesy and light, the criminals harsh and dark. The ending isn’t a cliffhanger this time, but the story is left open. I will definitely read more.

I've been thinking about it and I understand the impulse to like, include the mob stuff because obviously that raises the stakes and you get more antagonists, so I can't fault the series for that. I think I just assumed the humor would be more based in the comedy of this super intense guy trying to live normally, but I got that in The Way of the Househusband and so I'm not like. Devastated, or anything. I do think that Kaori's crush should go no further (if not disappear entirely), because? Ugh? I did like the sniper photoshoot thing, I thought it was funny, and the ending was very sweet, I think I mostly just wish I could have seen it coming. I don't really know much about Kaori, and I think that's a shame! I know it's not the appeal of an idol, but you know. She's a person in her own right. I like the parallel between her and Endou. I'm really curious as to how this story evolves. It's fun as it is, but I'd love some kind of emotional core!

I love getting books on release day so much!!! Came home from work, grabbed my package, and immediately got to read the latest installment of my new favorite series — no better feeling!!

I love this volume because their relationship is really, subtly growing. I think Kaorin is really beginning to see Endou as someone she can’t live without. And Endou goes through a lot in this volume reaffirming that he’s exactly where he wants and needs to be. I truly only want the best for both of them!!!

I’m scared and excited for what the next volume will bring!! I want peace and happiness and success for these two… but I think it’s going to be hard won!

After the setup in the previous volume, this one takes the time to setup some stakes and showcase how things can change very easily for our Hitman as he works to support the idol he adores. First off his past comes to haunt him and from there he finds himself working to help the idol and her group enter into a contest. Its got a fabulous mix of comedy and action and will no doubt get an anime adaptation in a few years. They are going to want to try and feed more people looking for their spy x family fix.

The hilarious second volume in the series and I was just laughing so much. Great action scenes (as Endou is called back and a lot of trouble follows him), we get some backstory again, see some stuff from Kaorin's POV (which I love), there is a competition to get the idol group in a special place (which made laugh some more as to how Endou approached that), Endou is a true idol fan (I loved seeing him even memorise the dances), and more! I love this series and I cannot wait for the next one!

this volume is a little more serious and a little less silly than the first, which is a logical path for this to take, but I do really miss the hilarious vibes of vol 1. I just love endou so much, and I hope he gets more time with kaori. the scenes of him dancing and then him saving her with the choreography was absolutely the best!!!!

The interconnection of Idol groups and the Yakuza is such an interesting theme.

Poważniejsza niż jedynka, ale spora humoru. Powiązania mafii i branży rozrywkowej w pełnej krasie.

The tone of the 2nd volume is definitely different from the 1st volume, more serious tone. Endou has more work to do, getting out of the "underworld" is hard work. I'm looking forward to 3rd volume.

I enjoyed the hitman story part... but I'm not entirely sure if this is the series for me. I'll give it a third volume when my library gets it to make a final choice.
